Written by B.M. Little Latin Lupe Lu was written by 19-year-old Bill Medley when he and Bobby Hatfield were in a five-piece band called The Paramours. It's about a girl he dated at Santa Ana HS named Lupe Laguna, whose nickname was "Lupe Lu." She liked tacos. So did Bill Medley. This show here must be circa 1964 B.M. (before miniskirts).

The Mini skirt started out quite long and it was a year or two before it became really short. A 1964 mini is very noticeably longer than a 1968 one.

What I really like about bands of this era is the coordinated "swaying back and forth" of the band members especially the guitarists.

I wish full episodes of American Bandstand, Hullabaloo, & Shindig were available. I know some clips are out there but full episodes with Song Ratings on Bandstand - "Great lyrics and easy to dance to". Howzabout 'Happening' the Sat afternoon show with Paul Revere & The Raiders? That would be nirvana - NOT the band. The mental state.
