There is a large Jamaican influence in Costa Rico due to high numbers of Jamaicans going to CR in 1872 to work on the railway. On the coast of CR you can clearly hear the Jamaican accent and influence in the food. Beautiful country

Unfortunately, there is not much to do in San Jose, capital of Costa Rica. It is dirty, dangerous and unsightly city. American and Canadian tourists do not spend more than one day there because there is nothing to see. They could have spent their time better either at Jaco beach or Manuel Antonio on the Pacific of the country, or at Cahuita or Puerto Viejo on the Atlantic. Getting up that early to see some coffee plantations or a waterfall, is just ludicrous.
