This is one of my favorite songs to sing with Westminster. It gives me chills every time we sing it. Westminster has a very unique ability to bring every song they sing to life. I am so happy that I had the chance to be on stage with them.
I absolutely LOVE Davids arrangement of this hymn. He would be proud! I also love the emphasis on the "S' on the word endless at time index 2:56. The harmony is flawless. I give you 5 of 5 stars.
O Love, that wilt not let me go, I rest my weary soul in Thee; I give Thee back the life I owe, That in Thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be. 2 O Light, that followest all my way, I yield my flickering torch to Thee; My heart restores its borrowed ray, That in Thy sunshine’s blaze its day May brighter, fairer be. 3 O Joy, that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to Thee; I trace the rainbow through the rain, And feel the promise is not vain That morn shall tearless be. 4 O Cross, that liftest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from Thee; I lay in dust life’s glory dead, And from the ground there blossoms red Life that shall endless be. Just beautiful!
I honestly don't think religious preference has much to do with music. Music is about telling a story in a way that is straight from the heart, and I believe that this group does this song the justice it deserves.
There are technically better recordings of their beautiful rendering of this powerful arrangement of this moving song. But, I am convinced The Creator was present in the room for this performance, streaming from every voice and body in attendance.
This one is profound. The somewhat informality of it adds to the beauty - God is where we are. Nothing is much better than young men singing about God's love.
@RandyPanTheGoatBoy86 It is right that the song gives chills. In the 1800's, the author wrote "I am quite sure that the whole work was completed in five minutes, and equally sure that it never received at my hands any retouching or correction. I have no natural gift of rhythm. All the other verses I have ever written are manufactured articles; this came like a dayspring from on high." (This song was truly inspired by God)
I absolutely love anything this course does! They rehearsed in my church for a while, and I miss them.
Beautiful, soulful hymn. Perfect harmony, powerful performance.

O Love, that wilt not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in Thee;
I give Thee back the life I owe,
That in Thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.
2
O Light, that followest all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to Thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray,
That in Thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.
3
O Joy, that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to Thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain
That morn shall tearless be.
4
O Cross, that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from Thee;
I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.

crazy!
Parabéns
yeah, it's a religious song sung in a church, but....HELL YES!
Enough with David Phelps ! Would you PLEASE give George Matheson some credit ? He is after all THE composer !
David gave it a new life! He deserves some credit otherwise this would be just another song.
