I always thought there was something special about Rahman's background music, but never had the skills to analyse or break it down to such an extent. This video is like a Eureka moment for me as it has put my vague observation into words, that too so beautifully. Someone wrote in the comments that this video has set the benchmark very high for your channel, I cannot agree more with it. This is some next-level stuff.
Wow Man! The best time for me as a creator is when I receive comments. Good or Bad! But there is something about these 4 line comments that tells me it has got someone's heart. When I was picking this up, I was confident I can talk about the greatness of this movie but as I watched more and more of it, I got nervous about how abstract and beautiful this one. Wish I had the skill to visually show you how I wanted to put this. To me this is crude but as you said yesterday, honesty is the 'best' policy. Thanks again brother!
I never understood why musicians are called geniuses until I watched this video and understood how the music tells half of the story without us even realising it🤯
Pure nostalgia... I was in my 11th class back then, and my God I was literally blown away the moment movie strarts with its brilliant title track... I still remember I purchased a dvd and watched it on my friends dvd player....man o man... This was probably my first movie that made me realise what good cinema is and how can it affect our lives... Back then I cudnt even understand why dint my other friends liked this movie, they found it boring... By far the best ever movie of our Bollywood with its next level rahman soundtrack.... Brilliant brilliant brilliant...
I saw your YT channel today and watched the Kun Faya Kun analysis. It was so amazing that I ended up watching ALL your videos today. In one whole day, ALL your videos. Rahman, we all know is magician but you shared and explained all his magical tricks in such mesmerizing way. No words enough to praise. Keep it up, bro.
One correction - the Bengali women sound is widely used in South India - kerala and Tamil nadu. It is called kurava or Kuravai - it is symbolic of an auspicious occasion..even though it denotes death in this scene, it marked an auspicious occasion in India's freedom.
@@Inotherwordsyt My point is Rahman being a Tamilian would have probably referred to his roots for this sound. You can find the same 'kuravai' in the Tu Zariya (Coke Studio) piece that Rahman did.
I always thought that this movie had one of the finest songs . But never paid attention to BGM. You have captured the finest details 🫶🚀 unbelievable how ARR can create such magic 🙏🏼🥰❤️
2 days back I saw your kun faya kun video of your and instantly got stuck with your channel. Must say these are some commendable job fantastic search and fabulous explanation 👏👏 Its an eye opener for everyone who takes Indian Cinema for granted and do not appreciate its grandness in front of foreign films Keep up your good work 👏👏 Looking forward for more such videos 🙏🏻
Bro, not only Rehman Sir.. You are a genius too!! Itni deep understanding !! Hats Off !! Audience like you is what Drive the Magicians like Rehman Sir to keep going...
This is my favourite movie ever. Watched it at least 70odd times. I could actually recall each BGM you mentioned before you started playing it. You have made an excellent video about it. Now I need to watch it again.
@@HarshKS2 It's a shame that when I discuss this movie with even my family, all they can think of is that *someone* is anti-national. When I counter with that *someone* being right when he called us intolerant. They start bringing up love jihad and the invaders. It feels as if I am sitting inside the sets of India TV when I just want to talk about a brilliant movie.
@@Anant.Bhatia.Antz_Bin This film actually isn't as controversial as ppl call it nowadays, watched it as a kid nd it touched me..ARR phenomenal job too especially that rahman singing sargam at end when amirs on call..
"Zindagi jeene ke do hi tarike hote hai … ek jo ho raha hai hone do, bardaasht karte jao...ya phir zimmedari uthao usse badalne ki"....This phrase resonates with your idea of appreciating unnoticed music😂. RDB is one of my all-time favorite films. One of the reasons the movie hits you so hard is the bgm and it is highly underrated, the entire album is great, but the bgm is top notch. I don't know how Rehman does it, and the amount of knowledge he possess is admirable, he is truly a magician. I've seen all of the interviews, a documentary, and behind-the-scenes footage to get a sense of the ideas behind the background score, but there's still a lot of mystery, and now you've put it all together in one simple video, it was much needed. People will be drawn to the bgm after watching this video....you hav put a lot of time and effort into this video, and hope it receives its due....great work🙌 Ps: mera favorite scene nahi hai🥺
2:41 jailer's bgm got stuck in my head for a while. But not many people noticed it. You and I are in perfect sync bro. So glad you made this video. This is the kind of discussion I want to have with my friends. Unfortunately, I don't have a friend like you. Rang de basanti's is always special and it is in the top 3 on my list.
Thank you for making us understand this masterpiece... It shows how background music helps us to feel the scene and understand what is happening syncing with the visual... A genuine groundbreaking work... This movie is a true masterpiece and not only I want but we NEED such movies in present time because we Indians are in a troublesome time right now where Goodmans are teaching teaching biology, astrologers are teaching maths and physics, priests are teaching history and politicians are teaching geography and an illiterate is sitting at the headmaster's position of this nonsense school of propaganda.
I have started watching your videos recently and OMG!! Your contents are jackpot for me. I always love BGM of Raheman. But did not know what is the actual reason. You are guiding like a true friend from who I can grow. Thanks and keep it up. 🌻
Brilliantly explained by you and the hard work you put to decode each BGM its appreciable.. I was waiting for such video who could explain the craft behind music composition. Please carry on such and mesmerize us with new videos.

This has to be your best video so far.. you have taken your observation skills to a new level with this video.. and this was not just a music review, it was a part movie review as well.. this video should be seen by everyone who has seen RDB, and marvel at the greatness of that film.. also, lucky you, any excuse to see that movie again is a good excuse. Setting the benchmark very high for yourself, tread carefully my friend! ❤️
I was very nervous about this. Each line of this honestly eases the pressure off me. & this isnt the usual pressure! It is because of the stature of this movie for me, you and our generation. I feel better and ecstatic! Thank You mere bhai.. Thank You for sharing the passion for yet another thing :)
I am sure if I can keep myself positive and move, someday, who knows? Thanks for enabling me to watch this dream.. your words today are foundational for me Akshay Bhai :)
Omg, I almost hit send of my comment asking you to review Rang De Basanti in your swadesh video and right after I hit send I saw that you already have this movie decoded too
This was intense but loved it. You have articulated those expressions with so much ease. Rang De Basanti has always been special, its dialogues, songs every single thing. But thanks to you the background music talked of a Rang De Basanti, which I failed to hear(earlier). Kudos man! Looking forward to your subsequent videos. ❤️

I have no idea how many times I have watched RDB. Your videos are amazing I must say, it speaks like a movie lover and a music enthusiasts mind. I was waiting for that particular tune when Aslam´s father comes out praying already knowing that his son is no more. It plays throughout in the sequence when Sue wakes up, starts looking for the group, and confides in DJ´s mum. Looked for it several places, never found it.
The sounds of the women is not eastern but southern..you watch any Bharathiraja film..youll hear it.Its basically Tamil womens sound for celeberation. Its called Kulavai.
Oh shit! I am almost in tears. I am an underconfident guy by nature and this stamp of validity from a student of the art.. really makes me feel like putting in the extra efforts. I hope it reaches to you but really thank you for reaching out and telling me. It means alot!
