I like Corbin’s enthusiasm and that he is willing to learn, he wants so much to be like his dad and big brothers, what a wonderful young man he is growing into.
I love this family content! The Chad Fab clan are “hands-on” workers that know how to have fun while “Gettin-her DONE”. Great seeing the Gonzo getting some much improvements and a face lift! Keep up the good teamwork!
There is nothing wrong with bringing Gonzo back to its formal glory! Seeing the beauty that it once was will be so satisfying for all to see! Makes for great content, too! Paul will be pleased to see what you've done with it! Til next time, take care, and we'll see you on the next...
Chad's Fab family is at it again and Korbin on the pressure washer was the best! Gonzo is really looking good moving forward on the cleaning and rocker arm repairs that Chad's doing. The new seat is going to be a good match for the inside of the truck and comfortable at that! Love it when Stacy drove Gonzo around and into the garage. I was looking for a burnout, but she's saving that for Chad! All the family and friends coming together to get things done. Awesome video!
When I was shop boss at hodges trucking , the satellite yard in wilburton Oklahoma, unit drilling mechanic sometimes wanted to use a bay to stay dry , so I'd get a barrel of. Rig soap , open the soap up low water pressure, let set , come back and take it plum to bare metal if it didn't have a good primer . Sure made my jobs faster and easier. The main bosses in Oklahoma city, couldn't understand how quickly, I'd have a truck prepped and ready for painting. .
Have fun working on the truck, with your crew you can't go wrong. That's what I like about your channel you haven't gotten away from family working together! You are truly blessed to have that closeness.
Brother, I was a paint and body man for almost 40 yrs and had some health problems and quit. Can't stand up for long so I fell in love with lawnmowers and started 2 projects at once. I learned that if I'm building YOUR automobile then I do it YOUR way. If it's mine then it's MY call. Yo Truck Yo Way.
I love the way you do your work. You know how to do it right, and you always do it right, and you pass that on to your boys. Love your channel and your buddies.
Gonzo has never been so clean. My friend showed me his secret for removing old paint. I helped him one day, and I was amazed. He starts with a 4 inch paint brush and a gallon can of DOT 3 brake fluid. He would coat everything with the brake fluid and let it sit for a couple of days. Then he would fire up his steam cleaner (not a pressure washer), and literally wash sheets of paint off of the surface. I was amazed the first time I saw him do that.
Have you ever tried Soda Blasting? It will remove any paint or rust and clean glass and chrome without hurting anything. The truck is looking good , great to see the kids learning and having fun.
This channel reminds me of days past working in the garage with my 3 boys. We NEVER did anything on the scale that you guys do and didn’t have a fraction of the equipment you have. However, we had a good time and learned a lot. AND, to this day all 3 of them enjoy their cars and working on them. Please continue producing your content. Thank you for the memories.
We're excited to see Gonzo cleaned up, fixed up, spruced up and being driven in parades, going to car shows, drag racing once in awhile and doing proper posi burnouts...because waaay rare, cool old American truck with a modern powertrain!
Painting Gonzo the original color is super! So fitting! The interior is looking good... and that cleaning will add more years to this trucks life!! Rust is just bad from every angle!
I love all the work going into Gonzo your only making it your own and who don't like a great looking truck you stick with it Chad I love how your extending a bit of life to that sweet truck.
Watch the video while you were helping to fix the truck. I am watching your video to see what you doing. I am a 68 old woman. do not know very little about working on vehicles. Enjoying your site you explain everything. Have a Blessed Day! 😀🤗
I love it! You are making it Yours! Enjoying the cheap because I’m in need of a lot on my 98 Dodge and I’m 70 yrs old with limited funds so I really appreciate you showing and teaching the best way on the nickels. Thank You and am waiting with anticipation to show what’s next!
That's cool you use a copper spoon I made mine out off copper pipes had a piece of 3/4 L hard pipe i cut it in half it was 27 inches one piece I cut a seam down one side and flattened it out and cut a heavy 1/8 over half the pipe I used the smaller half and started flattening the pipe out and when I had it close to flat I stuck the smaller piece I cut from the other half inside the pipe and finished flattening it out I have used mine for over 35 years. Saved me a many blown hole in thin sheet metal.
Thanks for a another great low key automotive lesson. I sure appreciate not having to listen to the thump, thump, thump of a of a sub woofer and instead hear a nice calm voice explaining the finer details of your work. Thanks, Chad!
People leave chad alone he's making it ,clean restoring it back to glory then its pretty much his daily driver. So leave him alone. Not any different than any one restoring a vehicle and so proud to constantly drive it,with a grin on his face esr to ear.❤😊😊😊😊😊
Chad...I love the family that not only works together, but has fun and accomplishes much at the same time. I wouldn't even respond to those silly commenters about why change something u love. That needs no explanation at all.🙂👍
Showing how to have family fun on a restoration project. That steam cleaner packs quite a punch, removing some of Gonzo's paint layers (white, blue, red, black, green/teal). What is the interior color (gold with hues of brown/red/black)? Looks good. Waiting to see some of the accessories as you install them. Liked returing Gonzo to his previous lustre as much as is reasonably possible. An easy driving date/church vehicle.
Boy that pressure washer brought back memories... i used to pressure wash restaurants and homes in my younger days...it's physical and hard work...oh, and very wet...!!!!!
I seem to recall you were looking for a fleet side bed for Gonzo... personally I think the step side bed looks great on it and would keep it! (Repainted to match, of course.)
Sometimes I wish I would have left my truck 2 wheel drive. But since my brother and I made it a 4X4, I've had it all over the mountains up at this end of the state, like up around Monte Crisco.
Chad, thank you so much for sharing you knowledge while repairing the rust areas on Gonzo. I have a 1955 GMC PU and know I have inner and outer cab corners to tackle. Please keep these type of videos coming.
Chad, there’s an old trick that you might want to show your boys if you haven’t already. “Flexible Tape Pattern” Wray Schelen even did a video a few years back. Your masking paper reminded me of it. This trick is great for when you need to hammer and dolly out a fender or quarter when you only have the other side to work from.
Another bit of info for you, the bottom rear corners of the hood on these old trucks like to rust, at least that's where mine rusted at this last time around.
Your philosophy advice. Here's mine. Clean white brightens attitudes and makes EVERYTHING more visible (you notice when you get older eyes). A contractor friend suggested Zinsser123 primer and I have bought gallons and gallons of it for shops (2). It is the toughest best paint. It even waterproofs. Very white. Good to teach your kids how to make it all better and keep it nice. Your garage doors are stinkers. Empty spaces in rocker panels: I've always wanted to fill them with foam to stop water and air from making rust. ? "Obstacles to overcome," sonny.
I haven't seen any of the copper spoons at any of my local shops here in wv so I made a couple from copper tubing scraps I had laying around I made one from 1/2",3/4" and 1" with a dowel handle. "If women don't find ya handsome they might as well find ya handy keep your stick on the ice." -red green.
we use 400 500 800BAR hot water (real hot ) to take off paint and rust you can take rust off down to bear iron .. the small cleaner can handel worm water from the tap and just 40 60´c will peal paint off too as soon iron get hot the paint get thermo plastic,, and peel off but.. let it dry like in dri over night with a ventilator maybe a heater or somthing ..greetings from denmark
wow, never realized how much work a SEEMINGLY SMALL repair can turn out to be !!!! now i'm seriously afraid to go to the body shop to have the rusty strip below the window crank on my 73 K5 tailgate !!!!!!!!!😮 great job Chad !!!! i don't see any issue from my point of view on the work u r doing on the ole girl !!! it's STILL A LABOR OF LOVE and in the theme of apprecation !!!!!!! ATB boss 😂!!!!!!!!
I agree 100% with how you are cleaning up the body and interior. That is how i like to do mine . You will get a lot of satisfying enjoyment driving it .
I turned on the TV and there was a show called Junkyard Empire. They found a decent Chevy Blazer and wanted to do a quick restoration. The guy in charge wanted to do it in Orange and the other guys were against him. Made me think of Chad. Orange Blazer all day long.
This is why I love your channel Chad, You and I are kindred spirits mate, if a jobs worth doing its worth doing properly 😎. I hate watching channels like vice grip when he uses license plates to fix rusty floors, Though I do enjoy most of Derricks content to, He just cuts corners I wouldn't 😢, I like my cars looking classic but no chassis rust or holey floors for me, lovely clean interior nice modern motors modern brakes that work and fuel injection and electronic ignition, I'm old I just want to jump in a drive the bugger not be stuck on the verge kicking tires. Anyway like a said a few weeks ago when Paul gave you this project I knew you'd do a fantastic job buddy. 👍😁
Just before christmas I sold my little Transit van. It was in pretty much mint condition, except for the cargo compartment, for obvious reasons. Like you, I took the pressure washer to clean it out. It came back up looking great..Except, I had pools of water in every nook & crannie under the drivers cab. Electrical connectors under the seats steeping in puddles. Coming out in the mornings to find condensation on everything, misted up windows. There was me thinking the water would just run to the lowest point, drain away. Some chance! Man, what a drag, having to then look for all of those puddles, towelling them off, to get back to normality. The Great Gonzo looks like its going to be some ride with your TLC.
Hey Chad, have you ever seen a wet sand blaster? Worked great on cement mixers! I built a trailer and blasted it before painting it and it worked great. Just need to do it on a sunny day so it dries fast. A quick low pressure wash and dry and it's ready for primer. No dust. You could make a copper spoon from a copper pipe. Works good! Never used a bought one!
I had a 67 shortbed, 390 w/cam, manual valve body automatic, that always made me feel goodd to drive. So, I can relate to fun driving it. Chad, is the only youtuber I would trust to buy a vehicle from 100%. There are million subscriber channels, I would not even consider that with, because of their hackery. Black paint is not a rebuild !
I rented a 4000psi pressure cleaner so I could repaint my 1956 built house down here in So. Fla. That thing beat me to death. Cant wait to see your final product.
Makes my heart happy that you are returning Gonzo to her original Turquoise 🩵
Rory is over 200k These great people deserve it just as much for what they do for everyone. Like subscribe and share. Let’s go get them to 500k.
Paul could not have given it to a finer person. Thanks for bringing us along on another episode .
I like Corbin’s enthusiasm and that he is willing to learn, he wants so much to be like his dad and big brothers, what a wonderful young man he is growing into.

I'm so glad you don't embrace rust as much as Paul seems too. I personally love clean , shiny and cleaner still.
I'm with you. I grew up driving dented and rusty. I like old stuff with new paint.
Thanks for the shoutout Chad! 👍👍
Thank you for your help!!! Made all the difference having you bring that over!!
There is nothing wrong with bringing Gonzo back to its formal glory! Seeing the beauty that it once was will be so satisfying for all to see! Makes for great content, too! Paul will be pleased to see what you've done with it! Til next time, take care, and we'll see you on the next...

Love the truck, and the level of detail. I surely will be following the build to it's conclusion. 👍

I think Gonzo needs to come down to the mt Carmel car show!
Good new then 😁 Because we're coming and so is Gonzo
Oh heck to the yeah!!!!!!!
This truck is so awesome!
Wow! Relevant advice, "...measure success by the obstacles overcome."
Korbin is great under pressure, love seeing a family working together

Your confident and patient approach to making progress is a model for any of life's challenges! Love this channel, keep it comming.
I'm sure you know, but Spray Away works very well as a prep cleaner. Cheers Guys! the truck is turning out nice!

That Gonzo truck reminds me of Clint Eastwood in “Any Which Way You Can”.❤😊
So funny when Korbin says, "I'm done!" as he hands off the steam cleaner wand.
I love Stacy‘s laugh . Good times at work guys.
Thanks for the laughs Chad's family good times
👍
Looking good !!

Looking good 👍. Once Robby Layton head quits spinning lol. He might offer a complete free paint job for Gonzo. You never know.
Chad was a Auto body man before Robby Layton was born
I can be having a really crappy day and I watch your videos and it makes my day turn around and turn out much better. Thank you.

Love how the boys jump in to help out
thats the way the kids at our Dealership clean used cars, open the doors trunk and hood and start with a good power wash and then the shop vac
Another bit of info for you, the bottom rear corners of the hood on these old trucks like to rust, at least that's where mine rusted at this last time around.
Gonzo is looking awesome!
Robbie Layton style de-greasing! He has a gift!
First Class Work by a First Class Crew 👍👍 Thanks for the Schooling on them Rocker's , that job is Allway's alot of time to do !

Awesome… thanks buddy..
Glad to see Kendall helping out 😊
Kenner is Smart, he knows not to piss off the Cook!
I'm sure Paul is grinning ear-to-ear!
The gift wasn't the truck but the fun of making it the truck You wanted.
Looking better all the time with every little thing you do .👍

God bless you all Fabulous family of Chad!!✌️🇺🇲
I agree 100% with how you are cleaning up the body and interior. That is how i like to do mine . You will get a lot of satisfying enjoyment driving it .
I might have taken the broken windshield out. It makes the refinishing process a good bit easier. Better finished product as well.
It's looking amazing Paul is going to want it back
Chad you have some great friends there to lead a hand on projects like gonzo so jealous😊

Hello Chad from Sydney Australia.
I'm watching your ingenuity and adaptation work process intently.
Amen.🌏🇭🇲
I needed this wholesome vid today Chad and family, I had to put 1 of my dogs down today so I am in the dumps. Thanks for brightening my day.
The metal door panels would be perfect candidates for chrome!

AWESOME FAMILY WORKING TOGETHER. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU! 😇
Great video. I loved watching everyone working together on the interior
41:15 For copper backing pieces to weld, I just use pipe from the big box store and smack in flat with a hammer.
Love those old trucks with gas tank beside the driver.
Love guys coming together
