- Michael Vargas of Angel Motorsports of VA puts on one hell of a show at Cleetus & Cars Florida in his 1974 Mazda "Repu" Rotary Powered Pickup - He had some struggles finding fuel at the track, by the time he did he was only able to make one pass, so he decided to try and blow up the FD RX7 13B two rotor engine that he had built at the shop... the fire show was EPIC!

OF COURSE ITS THE VARGAS BROTHERS holy shit this video got me pumped
Puerto Rico en la casa Rotativo la leyyy!!
Actually that was only Mike Vargas. He doesnt get the recognition he deserves. John was on Hoonigan, but Mike builds serious cars that actually go fast. The only thing John has over Mike is Mochi.
@@HoesStoleMyTacos mike gets recognised a lot even john recognises him as a better rotary builder he just doesnt have as much clout as john but his getting there
I thought you were talking about Alexander Vargas. Look him up on RUclips

If rotaries had a redline how would I know the limit though 😂

When the apex seals go on strike that's redline
Thanks to 1320 editor for putting my son in the video. He was stoked to be on your channel. Thanks to the Vargus bros for putting on a great show with the truck. Cleetus has a great thing going on.
2:37 I like his attitude, he was like "ohh shit a wall", "wait.... a wall, ok"

Yeah- their builds aren't capable of 2nd, 3rd or 4th gear burnouts. Just 1st gear warriors. Weak as piss

but I do NOTHING and it breaks.
im guessing cuz yours was a rx8...those engines just suck
Nah it was more of a meme, I've had an rx8 and now have an rx7 and haven't had any *engine* related problems like seals or anything.
How long did you have your rx8 and rx7 alot of people say they are not reliable but they seem to be
@@biggj6187 My rx8 had 80k miles and my rx7 has 77k, they are pretty reliable if you maintain them properly. I agree they get a bad rep for being like the least reliable cars ever but in reality it's as bad as people say. The only reason they break a lot is because there are a lot of places that don't build them properly or just aren't maintained properly.

Rotary engine: *blows up*
Rotary engine: *Im still alive*
"Sike bitch, you thought"
-that Rotary
The engine didn't blow up. It just burst a radiator hose. It was overheating to buggery before it popped.
And the fact that it started and ran doesn't really mean much in a rotary. They will still rev to the limiter even when all the seals are fucked. And you can be sure that after that limiter bashing session, plus a massive overheating, those seals are destroyed.

What an amazing motor! Reminds me of entering my first burn out comp in my Corolla 13b n/a 12 year old motor never been rebuilt. Sat it foot flat 5th on the spot for about 3 minutes and when I looked at my temp. gauge it was sitting at 250 degrees Fahrenheit, it was spraying out hot coolant out of my overflow, when I let it cool down over at the fire marshal.
It started up and drove it on my trailer.

Fun fact: it is theoretically impossible to kill a rotary with only high revs, just over torque and over heating

Brysom Boggs exactly everyone whose blown them up from they’re own stupidity or never even owned one says this
Well i mean, v8s and 6s can take more. Its all in how the “piston rings” are designed, in the rotary its has the 3 “rings” and a v setup has rings on each piston, the rotory will eat through the “rings” wayyy quicker than a v config. Most v engines never need a rebuild if theyre a decent motor but a rotary will almost certainly need a rebuild at some point even if its after 1-200k miles.
@@Attachments. rotaries don't have rings... they have seals, and they can last JUST as long, if not LONGER if you don't ride the limiter lol. Mazda cut corners in the seals to meet prices for mass production, much like subaru's ej25. Oh, and a rotary has MANY more than 3 seals.. shows how much you know lol.
@@Drake5153 You obviously didn't read Shames' comment correctly. He said "rings" and he was referring to the 3 apex seals as the MAIN seals, not the only ones.
@@jacobwebb8818 a rotary can fail\loose power if it busts any of the seals, there only MAIN seals because its the only one is uniquely labeled, corner and side seals failed just as often as the apex, tho the apex seals will break if you beat on a cold engine, much like any engine.
