I don't have a GH7, but exposing ETTR on the S5 can make skin colour look a bit plastic-y. I do over expose, but I keep it 0.5 to 1 stop over - or, if controlled lighting, I try and aim for 42/45%.
There should be an extended ISO setting you can enable in the menu, but I wouldn't recommend doing it. I believe the base ISO for the S5iiX is 640 so I wouldn't go below that. :)
Things like audio 32bit float, great IBIS and many recording conveniences are awesome, but at this size/weight and price, I'm struggling with the value proposition. Full frame gathers 4x the light of MFT which is a huge improvement in cleaner images, more dynamic range, better low light performance, more flexibility with depth of field, etc, etc, etc and you can get an A7C2 or ZV-E1 for the price of a G7 and they are even more compact...
The GH7 is a Pro level camera and well above the FF cameras you just mentioned. The cheapest pro FF camera with a comparable feature set is the FX3 and is nearly double the price. If you have a specific reason to shoot in very dimly lit areas, sure the consumer FF options might be better for your specific use case. But overall, the GH7 is a near complete documentary/ cinema package barring internal ND filters.
@@WildridefilmsNot sure what you can film on it that you can't film on an A7CII or A7IV, but loads you can film on FF that you can't film on the GH7. But even the FX30 seems like a better bet and much cheaper?
@@DigiDriftZone The FX30 has lower DR than the GH7, a worse screen and no EVF, so will be difficult to preview what you're shooting without an extenal monitor. The ZVE1 is a single card slot camera, also lacks and EVF, has a poor display and overheats. The A7IV also overheats, has significantly worse rolling shutter, and subsequently mediocre slow motion options. The A7Cii is a single card slot version of the A7IV and overheats even quicker. None of these cameras shot more than 4k resolution or offer open gate recording and are not better pro videography tools than the GH7. The FX30 gets the closest but still not quite on par.
@@Wildridefilms Ok, good points :) - also, I agree, the crappy articulating LCD on Sony is shameful and they use it on most of their cameras. Even the Fuji X-S20 has a much better LCD.
I’m got my new GH7 last month as well as my new S5iix two months ago. I kinda have the best of both worlds at the moment. Love both cams yes my S5iix has better shallow DOF as well as lowlight and dynamic range. but nowadays full frame only beats it by a little bit now it’s close in those regards. gH7 in my opinion is completely comparable with full frames and even has better Dynamic range then Many Full frames out there. GH7 is my new A-Cam placing my S5iix as a B-cam. Man I just love these cameras. I hope lumix is here so stay!

I can get FX3 body new same price as new GH7 + 12-60 f4 + XLR adapter + spare battery … which camera would you go for?
If the top line on the wave form means footage is overexposed why do the highlights seem to clip just underneath the dotted line under it? Thanks!

Why is the top limit of my zebras in V-Log style on my GH7 limited to 80% while yours goes up to 85%?
S5IIX don't have this L sign in the iso menu ?

Shame this camera doesn’t have false color, way more accurate for getting proper exposure for skin.
You can upload a false colour LUT and monitor with it.
