Chalk cliff Waterfall miniature diorama

- In this video I´m modeling a chalk cliff waterfall in 1:87 scale. The 11 meter tall waterfall drops down into a canyon, where the water stream has cut it´s way through the ground leaving only rocks and roots.
I´m hoping that this presentation will inspire you to get started, or finish your since long started miniature model project. For me, this is my way of relaxing and enjoying a few minutes free creativity each day.

This is great ! I especially love that you sound a bit like Dracula:)
:)
I can never unhear this great
So inspirational as always. Your calm narration always makes me feel that I can achieve results like yours. Time will tell!
Great video, although I missed your smiling face at the beginning introduction!
Metoo!
Another outstanding tutorial. Also, Elmer's clear glue has worked well for me.
This will come in handy for me soon...
I love your video's👌🏼👌🏼👍😊
Servus.

exemple of diorama to do : seaside cliff with beach
I watch a lot of of your videos,,,and I enjoy ALL OF THEME,,,,,,, I also use a lot of your techniques on my layout,,,,,,😎
Great video, as always ! Loved how you added roots to the scenery, could have used more of them though. The only drawback was the crumbled old newspapers, not the best of rocks. And supertrees. A waterfall could also be made using scotch tape painted with gloss medium. Thanks for a great vid !
did you get any reward than in that contest?
I got the papers to make the video. Otherwise no. They liked the photos I made, so I saw they use a few of them on their Instagram. Very inspiring!
@@marklinofsweden too bad you got no other reward because it really looks great
Hello, another beautiful diorama. And another interesting and informative tutorial. My only issue, and it's a small one, the crinkle paper kept reminding me of aluminum foil. Thanks again, see ya next time.
SUPER BRA JOBBAT!
Beautiful! I can almost hear the water. :)
Its so nice ....WOW...sorry my english is so bad a litel bit ich verstehe , i like to see you work it is great thx for sharing you are my best artics thank you so much . great regards from north germany / balticsea , Dieter
Hello to Sweden! Very nice diorama, very realistc. I put that video in my (public) YT-Playlist
"MoBa 10. WASSER/WATER/IMITATION" on my YT-Channel. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Once again a really nice diorama, except the paper rocks, I know you can do better. It's just part of the competition.
Wow this is very good👍
Great Tutorial, very beautiful
Jens
Fantastic work, as always. Thank you for taking the time to produce this. All the best...Tom
Keep the videos coming. Greetings from Alaska
Beautifully done! It looks very realistic. Thanks for making this tutorial.
Wonderful dio, love the work on the vegetation and rocks, realisitc and superb!
I love your method of creating water, and waterfalls. Could you tell me what materials you use for the actual waterfall. Regards David
Beautiful thanks Martin from Tasmania Australia
Qué bien me encantó super.. Lamentablemente no puedo entender un traductor porfavor
I really like this diorama. Your tree technique is ver realistic.
I dont usually comment on things I dislike, as it is a matter of taste, but the crinkled paper was a disappointment to see you use. Your skills are so much better than that. Did you use it because it was required for the competition? I found the end result with it distracting from the rest of the great work you did. I hope your piece did well in the competition.
Hi! Thank you for the feedback! Yes, the wrinkled paper is what the competition is all about. Also.. after seeing 100s of beginners model railroads and how the more advanced methods, which requires castings and multiple layers of paint, often turn out in real life... I honestly think this wrinkled paper could be a very good alternative as a one step method on an entry level.
Brilliant, I hope you win the competition let us know the results x
Did you win this competition, Martin? You must have!
Wunderbares Tutorial, Glückwunsch und weiter so.
Gruß Klaus
Absolutely stunning, if you don’t get 1st prize for this I will be very surprised. Thank you Martin.
Please can you tell me how big do you make your trees? Thank you
Hi! Thank you! Well, the trees closest to the veiwer is about 14-18cm tall, while trees closer to the backdrop is kept low, abou 4-8cm
Superb video and so very creative as always
Really brilliant, I love it, best regards to Sweden
Nice work !!!
Hello, can you tell me, what exactly plaster did you use?
Awesome things
Q: What static grass applicator are you using?
a true masterpiece!
Beautiful diorama, 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Strange.. my static grass never stands like that. It starts that way but falls over once the applicator is moved. The only way I can get it to stand like that is to use a vacuum. Any ideas?
Hi! 1) Load less grass in the applicator. The charging process only seems to handle about 50ml at the time. 2) Use a thin layer of a thick type glue intended for static grass. I use Noch grass glue. 3) Hold applicator 10-20mm over the surface. Move slowly over the surface. 4) The applicator should have >20kV capacity. Good luck!
@@marklinofsweden ok. I use the woodland scenics Static King
I love love your videos - let me rephrase that, I love love love your videos! Lots of great cheap, if not FREE ideas. Your work is beautiful!
Wow! I have lot of to learn! My märklin layouts look like a toy. Now I think that I have to make my layout more like natural. 5 years I look my layout and thinking: " Something is wrong.🤔 Look around! Natural is not clean. Dirty belongs of it." Thank You good videos!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your vids. can you show us the total landscape that you made?
Suggestion: i think it would look nice is you would add a little pillow fiber to the watercollums/waterfalls so it looks a little more "airy".
Havn't tired it mezelf though since i am just about to start building my mondeling table. Received the wood only yesterday. Your methods willen be inplied =)
Where can I get that spray gun
Hallo,
tolles Video. Super gezeigt und erklärt. Das einzige was mich stört, die Knitterfelsen. Diese sind wohl Geschmackssache.
LG Hans
I'm embarrassed, but I want to ask if you don't know what music / song is in intro? I really like it 😇. Otherwise, great original video!
Love your videos. I just found your channel. I use strings of hot glue to make my waterfalls. It looks really realistic.
Well done, Martin!
ya plan to ude it very soon
That rock effect is beyond clever. I did the same for my cave but with cardboard then added tile adhesive to create a rock texture. Will defo be using ur method from now on
It would be really cool if you could get one of those mini fountain pumps so you could make "real" waterfalls
just an idea, love your work, you've taught me so much and saved me so much money
Amazing looking diorama...
Interesting An excellent video,
Excelent tutorial sr
Always the best
LOVE IT!
The waterfall needs to be more realistic by tapering the flow, smaller at the top and wider at the bottom.
I don’t agree with you on this. The waterfalls I have studied ahead of making these has no tapering at all. The water falls straight down without any diffusion sideways
marklinofsweden Perhaps I should have said the falling water needs to show a tumbling effect that spreads the water, just like what would happen if the water was hitting jagged rocks on the way down. As it is now, the columns of water are too uniform is shape. This is only my opinion, please don’t think I’m saying that the diorama is anything but amazing, I wish I had the talent to create something like that.
fantastic job
Sir you are really good
Great job 👍👍👍
The Best tutorial
Great tutorial! 👍
Cool diorama

Great job!
Amazing 😍
Så snyggt👍😊
Var köpte du ”vattnet” någonstans ?
Ska göra en större sjö med en å och det går åt en hel del 😁
Great video! Great scenery! Thanks a lot!
Just beautiful! So imaginative!
Came out beautiful and is inspiring me to get going!

Does the two part river water heat up
Hi! I made some trials with this epoxy before using it on this diorama. Because Styrofoam and heat is a bad combination. I could not feel any rise in temperature as the epoxy cured.
Hello Märklin of Sverige :) great tutorial! Where did you buy epoxy resin in your country?
Hi! Thank you! I didn’t. I bought it on an Uk-based webshop called something like ”applied composites” or something similar
Splendide
Please let me know how to make static grass
I know this is an older video, but I sure would like to not only know how you did, but if you didn't win let us see some photos of the winner. That way we can tell you that yours is better (and get some new ideas).
I haven’t followed up on the competition. I’ll do that. Thank you! 👍
Gorgeous work. Very nice.
Have you explained how you made the foam cutter?
If I remember yes he did.
those rocks make me dizzy, light is not correct
Just amazing!
Total Awesomeness
I am curious as to why you used paper for the rocks. From a distance it looks really great but up close it isn't as nice as if you used plaster casts of rocks.
If I understand well, it's a challenge organized with this paper for obligation.
@@CeSeMoLa Ah, that's one of the reasons why I don't do these challenges. But it is cool to see how people use these different materials.
at 8:29 you have a thing what is it?
A static grass applicator
Wow, jättefint och otroligt realistiskt. Man kan ju höra vatten sårlet :)
