True, but for me, my impression is that Luke Towan goes for the absolute detail, no matter what it cost, while Marklin of Sweden goes for the best affordable for the average builder.
Absolutely spot on true! To be honest.. I would never have the patience to add the amount of details and precision that Luke does.. I want my stuff to be decent looking and be ready quickly at a reasonable cost. I talk to lots and lots with Model Railroaders and I think I can say I share that with most of them..
Marklin... I live in upstate New York in USA and I am TOTALLY captivated by all that you do in the world of Railroad modeling. I have learned so much from you and I am ALWAYS excited for new content from your channel. I just wanted to personally say thank you for all that you do to keep this great hobby alive and well. With out inspiration and knowledge from the masters like you, I would be LOST and never even try!! ... you are making a difference ACROSS THE WORLD with your teaching, so thank you again!! Continue to do what you do!!! From the USA, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and I look forward to more amazing content from you in the New Year, 2020! Sincerely, Rob from upstate NY.
Hi Rob! Thank you very much for your kind comment! I’m so happy you like the videos and find inspiration in the material. I wish you a very Merry Christmas from Sweden. 26 new videos is in plan for 2020.. 👍

Thank you so much for the tip about the raspberry root & static grass for making a tree. I will try this! Also like the idea of trying the hot melt water as I am currently building a large lake in my TT scale layout. Thank you for all the wonderful advice & demonstrations of how to do just about everything!
I am from Canada and started to do model railway as a hobby a few years ago. I find your videos to be very helpful and learned a lot from watching them. Thanks for your videos they are great and you make them interesting to watch.. Glenn A. Badcock.
Thank you Glenn! Wow! Nice! I think model railway is s great hobby, both in combination with a few beers and friends and alone in the basement after a bizzy day at work.. It is probably climate-positive too! :D I wish you a Merry Christmas!
Hey, great work. The raspberry root. You must first treat it before you place it on your diorama. Continue like this. I love your videos and I learn a lot from them.
The diorama looks fantastic! I have heard of the hot melt method for water effects but I have not seen it used until now. Thanks for making this tutorial as I learned a lot from it.
I like your work ....super toll , ich bewundere immer Deine Arbeiten , sie sind einfach phantastisch und so nah dran an der realen Natur . Danke für die Insperation . Great regards Dieter from balic sea
You deserve more credit for making these videos, you have been doing this for more than 3 years(as far as i know(The water gloss effect with toilet paper + glue was recommended to me by youtube) and that video was 3 years ago) seeing you still make videos and not running out of ideas is amazing! Keep up the good work!
These are making me want a railway layout again like I had as a child... I'm on dolls houses (the 1:12 scale models, not the toy ones) currently but I'm having train wishes again too! It's all your fault!
Congratulations friend you are very creative, I liked your channel I like the way to explain the details and the audio is heard very well, thanks for everything and happy new year waiting for more excellent tutorial videos.
Love your videos. Watching these have renewed the love of model railroading I had as a kid, and has motivated me to pull out my old train stuff. Can you do a video on detailing automobiles on a layout?
Thank you for commenting! I’m happy to hear you like the videos. There is a video coming up in January about weathering a wheel loader, but I’ll add that to the wish list.
Again a great video. As you mention in the beginning of the video, you haven't tried out this method of making artificial water before. But I would like to know which method of making artificial water is the best.
Hello Martin! another wonderful video! what talent! we swim in enchantment! you are really my mentor at the level of modelism! well done! we swim in the perfections of detail! I love ! all my wishes for the end of year celebrations and long life to your chain which continues to delight me and that from the beginning! Thank you for all your advice and your personal investment!
I gave this a thumbs up as it looks great BUT! When you first started, almost everything you did you built from scratch and this allowed us modelling on a limited budget to build great scenes. This is a Noch kit which is not cheap and I can go to the Noch site to see how the kit is built, please try and go back to your roots!
Hi Peter! I fully understand your point. The vast majority of commenters want me to make tutorials based on commersially available hobby items and more towards perfection and hi-end. Me myself prefer making the videos around the methods and materials I’m actually using for different type of situations, so there will always be a balance. I’ll consider your wise words about ”going back to my roots”. One must never drift away too far from the original qualities, but always try to develop the content in a direction in line with the audience expectations. It’s RUclips..
I don't make dioramas but I like to learn these technique for other project. I'm curious when you are done with a diorama what do you do with it? I assume that people make these as a hobby so I'm sure they finish a lot of them. Do they keep them all or sell them or something else,
Hi! I currently have a whole room full here.. Hehe! I try to model stuff for my model railroad, but sometimes the techniques and materials presented doesn’t fot into that canvas.
Hey! I really like your tutorial. The landscape turned out very well. What kind of mixer do you mean for crushing the leafs or do you know some other tools to use for this? Greetings Daniel
...yeah, thank you for this video, It's verry realistic and i like youre tutorials. But i love to do this waterareals, how you to do this, in an older video (looks like your hafen, or Waterfalls). How did you deal with the surface tension bulge on the edge of the melted plastic? In the shots where you pour it, it is quite pronounced. Does it self level with time, or did you have to do something to it?
Hello, Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. Another wonderful tutorial. Although I realize it might be sac-religious to criticize the master....I thought the banks looked a little too artificial. Too uniform. Maybe when you do your friends water feature make the bank geography more random. More blurred, less sharp. I hope that makes sense. Happy 2020 to you and yours also. Here’s to a new year filled with wonderful and informative tutorials. See ya.
Hi Norman! Well, I can just agree with you on that. This diorama was really just made to try out the hot melt water effect. I had no ambitions to make the ultimate scene, but anyway wanted to complete the scene, so it looked ready. I’m still a bit worried how the joints between new and old water will look. I’m also somewhat sceptic about how this water effect will act around wooden pillars and other objects on the sea floor.. I just don’t know.. I will probably argue for a resin solution anyway, but we’ll see.. Thank you for commenting!
That is good question! I saw that as well.. I survived, but I don’t know what’s in the softner or in the plastic pellerts really. The smoke didn’t leave any smell or film inside the owen, so no problems there..
@@marklinofsweden Would it give you a little more working time and flow out thinner around the edges if you preheated the surface you want to coat with a heat gun? I really like the tree. Also would look like those growing out of the cracks on a mountain.

How did you deal with the surface tension bulge on the edge of the melted plastic? In the shots where you pour it, it is quite pronounced. Does it self level with time, or did you have to do something to it?
The trick is to make sure the plastic is hot enough before pouring. If not, you’ll end up with tall edges, which needs to be plastered.

Since the raspberry root is organic, won't it eventually rot?
Shouldn't do, unless it's constantly wet and even then it'll take a long time. It's basically wood, a twig.
