Same, and I'm also an indie dev. Making games is just a whole lot more interesting than playing them. Most games I play now are either games from my childhood, games I can bullshit around in to pass time, party games with friends, and visual novels. I rarely spend more than an hour playing games a day unless I'm playing with my roommates or friends, and pretty much any other time I play games, I'm just killing time on my work breaks with my Steam Deck. Maybe learning game dev takes away some of the appeal of actually playing games.

You are exactly describing my favorite video game which is Hollow Knight!
A lot of my favorite games have to do with exploring, mostly space (and stuff like Limbo, INSIDE and Little Nightmare's), and mobile/cheap games dealing with clones and creating armies
I could make it in 30 years, 945,812,324 cups of coffee, and over 15,000 mental breakdowns
I'd create a zombie game that is a 1:1 recreation of the Earth with all 7.9 billion zombies being a different model
I think Satisfactory combines lots of aspects you mentioned like sandbox game or a unique World i personally really like it. Maybe this is a game you could like?

i personally want to start working on my indie game idea "Roto" where you play as a samurai beetle named Roto.
When you have infinite budget you could litterally afford game devs who develop the levels faster than you're playing them

personally i would want a game with a really good combat and movement system with a large world with epic and dark lore with each character where you can not only train yourself in various stats but ofc there would have to be a p2w apect but it would be so you can still get these p2w items if you play enough also it should have many real life players doing the same thing who you can train with or kill i would also love stuff like guilds and base development like if one guild made a poi their base for a long perioud of time and became powerfull it would actuallyy effect the gameplay for everyone and the game itself but i guess ill have to wait untill such a master piece is created in the gaming community :)

id love to make this one game im going insane about in my head, i actually believe it unique and a genre people dont really touch, at all. but i dont have the skills or budget or really any idea how to do it and it just makes me so depressed
me too bro, but that doesn't mean it's any reason to give up on the idea! I'm gonna slowly but surely get into practicing game dev and even if it takes multiple years to become good it's still an amazing skill to have and the possibilities are endless!

if i had inffinite time and budget id make an fully realistic game of siperpowers from anime isekai "that time i got reincarnated as a slime" and other issekai anime skills.
firstly making titanium engine simular and to 3 common engines with all of the featheres of them ue5, unity, godot.
and add softbody, and real body physics to it. then ai to make stuff from voice prompts and proframmimg ass well.
everything would be destructible in game using realbody made of atoms what calculates physics on molecular level and the world would be proceduraly generated with player able to choose size of it if it is planet or flat earth or other planet and how much time the ai npc must evolve in it before we are born.
and human ai more human then the real people. and usage of skills propably using voice commands or in vr even gestures.
off course everything from real life would be possible and even making our character hold a modern phone or gun.
The whole reason people still play minecraft is because of the costumization (mods) so… yeah, I’m not really getting you here
