I have seen videos related to that, and fixes that sleeve the worn holes, but requires transmission removal and disassembly, also a fix with servos that have O-rings. I was interested in your video about the flow valve problem. My symptoms have been just when starting out a block or few blocks from home after coming to a stop at a light. The complete failure happened that once last week when I completely lost forward and reverse, still failed after multiple attempts later that day, until I let it idle for about 20 minutes then it worked and has worked with not slippage on the few trips close by while driving. When I did experience the failure it did have D1 and D2. I was very impressed with your video explaining the other possible issues/causes. I was hoping your expertise might help determine whether my problem seems to be caused by the valve body plunger repair kit, the replacement/upgraded flow valve or worn servo shaft holes. One other. Note is the day Drive and Reverse failed complely, I dud add additional transmission fluid, possibly even "overfilling it" I has been working ok with no failures since including later that day after letting it idle, however I really haven't driven it far. Only short trips.

I have a 2010 v6 Mustang with the 5r55. It will not move in Drive or Reverse. If you rev the engine it feels like it wants to move but seemsclike it cant develop enough line pressure. If I shift from Park to 1 the transmission hesitates for several seconds and then bangs into gear. It does the same thing going from Park to 2 and Park to 3. I was able to drive it onto a steep flatbed in 1 with absolutely no slippage. Seems to drive fine in1, 2 or 3, just no Drive or Reverse. I could sure use some advice. Also there are no transmission codes or wrench symbols, lights etc. It had a fluid and filter service a few months ago. My local mechanic told me after $350 in diag time thst it needs a transmission. I pulled the pan and found no metal or clutch material at all. Im not convinced it needs a transmission since it moves fine in 1, 2 and 3. Certainly could use some diagnostic direction. Thanks

hi, check all basics first then also check range sensor. make sure battery is charged and strong ( low internal resistance ) also check elecrical connections and earth strap connections are good. you can lower valve body and air pressure test band and clutch apply ports as well. depending on the mileage, you vbody can be work and pressure leaks can be improved by replacing end plug valves... see from another trans ruclips.net/video/ydn8qkEewSk/видео.html if you are in australia you can purchase from us, link is in description cheers

I have a question about my 2WD 2011 Ford Ranger W/Automatic Transmission. It was supposed have been replaced about 2 1/2 years ago and was working fine until last year when a problem started occurring. when leaving to go somewhere the transmission would go into drive fine, however after going a short distance of a few blocks or less and when stopping at a stoplight, when I go to accelerate from the stop the transmission lose drive gear, after stopping and shifting into park, reverse or just bumping the accelerator and returning to idle it eventually will engage again and go on shifting normally from then on. The problem was intermittent and did not occur every time. A couple times it did continue to slip. However it typically would return to normal operation without further problems. I found the problem seemed to be less frequent during the hot Phoenix summer. I checked the fluid level and it was ok. I found more increasingly lately I would lose drive when entering the freeway during acceleration, but would eventually engage. The problem has became very frequent when leaving for the past few months but typically goes away after the initial loss of drive which will "Engage' after a few seconds or longer and no longer slip or act up and operate normally.
Yesterday while driving close by after and during rain and cooler temps that Drive completely failed after stopping a couple places a block away and then refueling. Reverse also would not engage completely and slipped, but D1 and D2 worked ok and I did make it home. I tried several times to go and try it in Drive and Reverse, and drove around the mobile home park to see if things would return to normal, but it continues to slip badly. It did flash the O/D light during these tests which from my research indicated slippage from the "Speed Sensor" after 3 attempts.
I tried adding additional fluid but the problem continued. Tonight I let it run idling in park for about 20 minutes. When I tried it again it seemed to work as normal without slippage, however I did not take it out on the street, only at slower speed around the park where it did shift from 1st to 2nd fine and had no apparent slippage. Last year I did remove the equivalent of a bottle of Lucus Transmission Treatment worth of transmission fluid drawn from the Dipstick Tube, and added the Lucus Treatment hoping to resolve the issues, which did seem to help, but may have been due to operating at hotter temps during the summer.
Do you have any suggestions? Would a fluid & filter change be advised? I would guess I have about 30K miles on the "Replaced Transmission" and everything operated normal for over a year until the problems stated occurring. The fluid I removed looked good, not dark or contaminated. Do these symptoms indicate a possible problem with transmission electronic controls/computer module or shift solenoids, or the components in this video?
Update: Today I drove the truck around running errands and it worked fine without any warmup period, no slipping. Another symptom I have been noticing for awhile is a slight "Delay" before gear engagement when shifting into drive or reverse.
I have also seen a video related to a bad "Sprag" causing forward and reverse failure, but this seemed like a hard failure. Is it possible that the "Sprag" moves slightly when first driving causing these symptoms, but relocates back into position and starts working normally, or does these symptoms indicate the problems with the "Flow Valve" or "End Plugs"?

I would like to know if it's feasible to replace a 5r55e in a ranger with a 55s or 55w? I like the lower 1st and second gear, want lower gear ratio without higher highway RPM'S

Hi, thanks for the great video. Say you had a 5R55S that would reverse only at idle, if you step on the gas, it slips bad as if it was in neutral. Apart from that, trans works fine. Manual 1st gear seems fine also. Could low fluid be the culprit? If not, what would you check next? Thanks for your help.

Hi , just bought my first Fg Ford Ute with the 5r55 auto. Not as good as the old C4’s.
I had some issues with it when I first bought the Ute. The auto was playing up so I got it serviced. Mechanic said it has had a hard life. He changed the oil Twice as it was so dirty.
He didn’t get movement from it on the first oil change, took sump off again and oil was dirty, so soon. New oil and filters and was starting to get some movement from the car. Took it for a drive and started to come good.
Has done 13,000 kilometres since and is starting to play up again. Jumping between first and second, and labouring in fifth on slight incline.
I am really impressed with your knowledge on this auto. A great video and explanation of how it works.
If you have any ideas for what I should do with it please let me know.
I try to go easy with it , and not tow anything heavy.
    Thanks for your help. Graeme.

hi, depends on so many factors including mileage and past use of trans. it can also be a worn or underserviced trans. on these units the case wears out where the servo piston rods pass through because the bands arent perodically adjusted. also the solenoid blocks and 3 speed sensors become contaminated with metallic debris. make sure you also use the correct trans fluid. to replace worn bushings, sealing rings, seals, clutches, bands, sprag clutches etc trans may need overhaul. cheers

Thank you for making this video and sharing your knowledge. I'm having an issue with my mustangs 5r55e. when it's cold it shifts ok but once it warms up it will not move in any shifter position no engagement at all. no codes. I dropped the pan and removed the valve body for inspection. I have a good amount of play in all but one of the end plugs. would you sagest replacing the end plugs and reassembling or should I remove the transmission and have a look at the pump and flow valve?

hi, did you air pressure test apply ports when you had vbody out? if you have internal pressure leaks, warmer up trans fluid will pass through those quicker and easier as fluid warms up. check all the basics first. cheers

I'm gonna do a transmission 5r55s. No codes. Fluid full. Wont move on reverse, forward and even the 1 or 2. What should I look for? The flow control valve? Overdrive Sprag? Can torque converter cause those issue? From what I know it's just a sudden thing. No signs of trans issue beforehand.

Hi mate, i had issues with my fg falcon 5r55s when it would not go into drive sometimes. Apparently the pump had an issue. So i got a reco/changeover and after a few months it seems to have a noticable (a bit jerky) change down into first when pulling up at the lights. The mounts are new so it cant be that. Can i get your opinion please on whether it is anything to be alarmed about and if so what it could possibly be?
