  • Did you know the first recorded date of a flying trapeze performance took place in 1859 in France? There are many different types of trapeze - the flying trapeze is a specific form where the artist jumps from a platform to a swinging bar and then performs tricks while being caught by a catcher who then assists the flyer in returning to the swinging bar from which they make their way back to the platform. Jules Léotard was an acrobatic performer who is credited with developing the art of trapeze and the costume that is named after him. You can learn about other trapeze artists and their history in this great video!
