Yeah thought that dash would trickle down the range from the Trident to the 400s rather than up it to the bonnies. Royal Enfield have round TFTs on there cheaper bikes (e.g. Himalayan 450) that looks better than this unit, so it's definitely doable.
I’ve done 6,000 miles on my 23 Speed Twin 900, France, Belgium, Germany, around Scotland with some heavy rain, and a surprisingly quick track day at Mallory Park. It has been excellent, all round performance, handling and braking, all day comfortable. I would like a bigger tank, but with a surprisingly good average fuel consumption of 71.6 mpg, it has a touring tank range around 190 miles. I was keen to look at the update at the show. Nothing against upside-down forks, but the dents in the tank to clear the forks on full-lock look as if they have been done with a lump-hammer. The worst thing though is that seat. It is so narrow at the front that your knees feel as if they are out in the air and so far from the tank that they would have done better to widen the tank and give it a few more litres. The seat is much less comfortable than on the earlier bike. The mudguards are rubbish, I sorted that on mine with a fender-extender. Not sure that I want to buy this one, they’ve spoiled it. Shame.
I bought the first Triumph Street Scrambler (liquid-cooled 900) in Australia. As much as I loved the bike, it spent 3 months of the 24-month ownership period in the garage waiting for electronic parts to be replaced due to faults. I ride every day. I don't think European manufacturers understand the term reliability anymore or how embarrassing it is to have a traction control fail on a bike with less than 10,000km twice in two years mid-rides. I know it's a rant but it's the reason I won't buy a Triumph again. Not to mention that they decided to close more than half of their dealerships across Australia.
The only triumph made in India are speed and scarmbler 400 which are way more reliable somehow but obviously electronic on bikes can fail so don't ever be too sure about current new bikes
The paintjob makes it looks like a royal enfield. Dont get me wrong the RE is a decent bike for that price point. But if you pay a higher price for a bike that looks cheaper its a bad deal.
Hey MOTOBOB, do you know what's up with all of the 'dashes' being off to one side? Am I the only one who would prefer centered? Thanks for your review!
For me a major part of the appeal of these bikes had been the traditional styling. I love all the mechanical improvements but feel the new paint job doesn't fit the bike anymore.
How long until the TFT displays start to issue alerts. Like in California they get earthquake alerts on phones. I guess in the UK what do you guys get, like air raid alerts ? Or 😢
But, Mr Pedantic, price point means something more than just price. It frames the price in relation to something else, such as its place in the triumph lineup and/or in relation to other similar bikes in the wider market.
Price creep price creep price creep price creep. Sure it's better, they almost always are, but price creep. And so far, we already have 2 comments about dashes. No comments about engine, transmission, brakes, wheels, subframe, tank, paint color, nope. Dashes.
the a f i need that cruise control on my street triple r it is the only performance bike in triumph without the cruise control...... is a new facelifted street triple on the horizon? or will this give the st3 r a cruise option for 2025
I'm 6ft 2, love the look of this bike but I'm worried it's going to be a bit cramped. Do you think this would be okay for me, or would I be more comfortable going to for trident 660 or even the tiger?
Why are they trying to imitate royal enfield? That paint job looks like RE, the digital dash looks ugly and its off center! The old street twin ec1 looks 10x better than this.
Well, considering other comments this far & my own view I'd say that new dash is a big fail !. Why is it off centre & why is it only half TFT?. That seems just mean when I have a £40 vape, my bad, that has a TFT display nearly as large. Also that paint job on the tank is minging!.
the part around the air intake box looks a little odd, doesn’t harmonize…the new tank form also…..the new lights aren’t so pretty in my opinion. i‘m sure the new suspension and more leg space is a plus. i’m lucky to own a matt iron stone and i got used to the flaws in the suspension and i‘ll stick with it. i even say: on really bad roads, the suspension of the previous model is very comfortable if you gently cruise along.
was waiting for the 2025 but got about 2.5k off my 2024, honestly for a msrp of 10k these bikes are over priced, now for the 7.5k or even 8k I believe is where the price should be, if I hadn't gotten the deal on mine that I didn't I think I would of ultimately gotten the trident and then probably got sick of it 6 months in because it wasn't what I really wanted lol but would of spent the money for the peed twin because 12-13k out the door is serious money for a bike. I think I made the best decision dont care for the newer sportier look but if anything. would have wanted the cruise control! but not for 2.5k more o actually 3k cuz it doesnt come standard lol
Nice, but they've messed up the dash. It was much nicer before, and retros like the Z900RS do the old look with modern tech far more aesthetically pleasingly. Also, does this paint job really suit the bike.. or does it look cheap? Plenty of us want top suspension, alloys, and good power in a retro style, and the speed twin matched that better than the T100/120. This model takes away some of the appeal. How about another 10hp instead of the colour and instrument changes?
I really liked my Street Twin, but this thing is minging; the proportions are all wrong. Is it a ploy to make people with functioning eyes trade up to the more expensive T100? I do quite like the stripes, but I wonder who it is at Triumph that thinks the Dairylea Triangle on the tank looks better than the Triumph script. I wouldn’t even waste an hour test-riding this; too gammony for me.
Such a beautiful bike, but Triumph’s dash design department needs an overhaul
Yeah thought that dash would trickle down the range from the Trident to the 400s rather than up it to the bonnies. Royal Enfield have round TFTs on there cheaper bikes (e.g. Himalayan 450) that looks better than this unit, so it's definitely doable.
Agreed, it’s subjective but that paint scheme doesn’t suit the bike and looks cheap.
Triumph needs to take note from Kawasaki and their z900RS on how to design a retro dash that perfectly combines both modern and old.
It’s cheap….and looks it.
This paint scheme is just awesome 🤩🤩
Love the updates they did to make it spottier ❤❤

Great video Bob, love Triumph Bonneville series. I wishing you and everyone Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Aren't they made in India? I have a 23 and 24 1200 bonny with 15000 miles between them and no issues

My 2000 Thunderbird still has my heart, but at 68 this year , this machine has possibilities. Great review.
You should do a top 10 video for your favorite bikes you've ridden throughout the year.
The paintjob makes it looks like a royal enfield. Dont get me wrong the RE is a decent bike for that price point. But if you pay a higher price for a bike that looks cheaper its a bad deal.
Great bike, excellent review!
Nice 900 indeed.
Once you start liking the design and build quality of Triumph Bikes, there is no going back ✅
It would be this or the Scrambler 900 for me. The sweet spot of the lineup
Nice updates but that dash being slightly off-center is a no-go. T100 all day for me.
Needs a Cafe Racer wind deflector.
This looks sportier..
Where can I buys those riding boots from?
I’m with Putin. Great horse riding boots when topless
😂
How long until the TFT displays start to issue alerts. Like in California they get earthquake alerts on phones. I guess in the UK what do you guys get, like air raid alerts ? Or 😢
I was considering this bike but now that classic 650 has launched especially with the teal colour❤ i decided to buy that now.
I prefer the old speed twin 900,looks more retro.
_Price_ is fine - there's no need to add _point_
But, Mr Pedantic, price point means something more than just price. It frames the price in relation to something else, such as its place in the triumph lineup and/or in relation to other similar bikes in the wider market.
Price creep price creep price creep price creep.

Okay this is all my personal preference but that paint job does nothing for me, I don’t like the black finish on the engine and I hate the dash 🇬🇧
the a f i need that cruise control on my street triple r it is the only performance bike in triumph without the cruise control...... is a new facelifted street triple on the horizon? or will this give the st3 r a cruise option for 2025

Do you think this would be okay for me, or would I be more comfortable going to for trident 660 or even the tiger?
Im 5-9, have a 18 street twin. The pegs to seat distance is close. Real close. Youd better try one on for size.
Get a z900rs instead. Or a scrambler 1200
Slightly different style, but also consider the street scrambler. I’m the same height and was comfortable on mine.
@keithrae5453 thanks for tip. Not such a fan of scrambler aesthetics personally, mainly the exhaust.
That single digital dash is not great. I love twin analog dials.
Prior 2 generations of the speed/street twin 900 have all had single dashes
I want a 6 speed in that price tag
That dash is hideous
I would go for a second hand speed twin 1200, better all round! You could get a heck of a nice one for £9K
Triumph has clearly f***k up the classic look of the initial Street Twin lineup. Pity.
Great review, well done, again the dash is all you see when riding. Yamaha also had the small offset dash, it also wasn't for me.
You should not be looking at your dash at all when riding
Why are they trying to imitate royal enfield? That paint job looks like RE, the digital dash looks ugly and its off center! The old street twin ec1 looks 10x better than this.
Still cramped
Needs a 6 speeds gear box.
Even RE did better dash than this with lower price... 😑
The new dash is ugly as sin. Hard pass.
It's a circle...
Why they don't go with 6 speed
Might as well buy a trident 660 lol
Why oh why didn't they put a 6 speed gearbox in it. I thought I'd found my next bike now not so sure
Because, Triumph said if it ain't broke it does not need fixing. I was waiting for a 6 speed myself. I thought this was it.
Well, considering other comments this far & my own view I'd say that new dash is a big fail !.
Why is it off centre & why is it only half TFT?. That seems just mean when I have a £40 vape, my bad, that has a TFT display nearly as large. Also that paint job on the tank is minging!.
1 break disc, no quickshifter kills this bike for me, no 6th gear. For this price xsr900 was a much better deal for me.
It's butt ugly and it's a triple. Not really a comparison at all.
The seat is still to low. Should at least be 810mm.
the part around the air intake box looks a little odd, doesn’t harmonize…the new tank form also…..the new lights aren’t so pretty in my opinion.
i‘m sure the new suspension and more leg space is a plus.

I love this new looks, But I hate that dash from Trident 660, I Prefer old dash from last model than this ugly digital dash
Great bike needs the twin clocks, at least as an option.
was waiting for the 2025 but got about 2.5k off my 2024, honestly for a msrp of 10k these bikes are over priced, now for the 7.5k or even 8k I believe is where the price should be, if I hadn't gotten the deal on mine that I didn't I think I would of ultimately gotten the trident and then probably got sick of it 6 months in because it wasn't what I really wanted lol but would of spent the money for the peed twin because 12-13k out the door is serious money for a bike. Z900 RS!

Unless they changed the wheel size, there isn’t much out there to swap out the tires with.
Over priced, it should be around £8 grand tops
I really liked my Street Twin, but this thing is minging; the proportions are all wrong. Is it a ploy to make people with functioning eyes trade up to the more expensive T100? ...pity about the dash....again....otherwise proven, good midranger that can do Café and hills
New tank design is extra ugly, sorry.
Keep my street twin they killed retro look again
If that's a good sound. 😂
