- Ian Royle checks out the merits of the Ford Focus and we hear the ideas behind it's design, it's safety features and it's reduced pollution. Plus we see footage from the launch of the Focus in Geneva, Switzerland.
I own one of this. It is like an ,, on duty horse.'' Just switch the key and it will take you where you want. No questions. It just go where you want to.
I had a new clutch on my Ford Focus 3 months ago. It moves so amazingly! It's 16 years old. I love it.
Just bought this as my first car. A 2003 1.6 zetec. Absolutely flying, I love it
Was my first car too.. bought it in 2004, it's still a lot of fun to drive, haven't had that many problems with it
Absolutely love the Focus. I've had a 2009 SES coupe for a few years now, my wife had a 2009 SE sedan, sister has a 2005 ZX4 and just picked up a 2008 SE sedan for my parents. I love how easy they are to work on and how easy parts are to find in the junkyard.
glad to have this car
Still looks great after all these years
Yep but I've got the MK2.5
unfortunately the white color didn't age that well.
You love or hate it, there's no middle ground and as far me...I like it
That's very true and I love it
we still have our 2000 1.6l zetec focus....it's part of our family ...
Exactly the same here! We also still have our 2001 1.8 Turnier, and despite many repairs an 300.000 Kilometers we will keep it for along time :)
I have the 2.0l giah focus love it
Wow! I have this car and I was shocked to hear the jungle/drum and bass background music but that's what plays most often in my car. Perfect targeted RUclips algorithm here 😂
I ❤ my 1.8 Ford Focus! 282000 km and still it seems unstoppable ;-)
Have a 2001 version, in Columbia Silver, with the 1.8 liter Zetec R. I tried to get a new car, but none drives and feels as solid and as good as the old Focus. Some are faster, sure, but the little car has a great package. And looks great.
Have a 2001 Ford Focus Mk.I 1.8TDi, second hand from Austria, 322k kilometers and still going!
I wish I hadn't moved on from my 2009 1.6 diesel econetic (mk 2) when I did because iwas a truly superb car. over 70mpg and 800 + miles to a tank on a good run and 100% reliable. I had it 5 years and still miss it. The Mk 1 deserves classic status as it was a true ground breaking car.
Mark One Focus,,,,,, as iconic as the Volkswagen Beetle . Absolute gem to drive , the best compact Ford ever. Loved it inside and out . Then Ford lost the plot for EIGHTEEN YEARS !!! Thankfully the Ford Focus 7.5 has rekindled a bit of the magic of the Mark One ,,,,,,about time too !
Mark 1 Ford focus you can't beat that design out side nether in side! Love it, wish it would come out again!
Ford focus.... Beautiful.... 😘😘😘❤️❤️👍👍
Love that typical drum and bass background music of the time. Anyone know the song that plays at the beginning?
I have one in 2020. Happy with it in general. Basic repairs. Wish that reliability was closer to Toyota (bench mark)
I've got an 15 Avensis and an 03 Yaris. Both are lovely cars and reliability is second to none. I love them, but I really want to get a MK1 Focus because I would love to drive a small, light hatchback with independent rear suspension, plus I feel like that MK1 Yaris and MK1 Focus are the best cars that are currently less than £500. How do you find the reliability and everyday usability of the MK1 Focus?
New focus here in states was ruined by dual dry clutch automated manual problems. The rest of the car is great , as well as the real manual.
I bought a mk1 zetec 1.6 focus automatic for 550 euros,, all I did was change the belt and water pump,, its a 2004 car and it had 113'000 miles ,,now after 9 months its now 124'000 miles and it feels like new.. Iv had 25 cars over the years and the Focus Is one of the best cars I'v had .
I got mk1 focus 1.6 74kw estate with lpg! First car and love it
Got a hatch myself, very reliable little car😊
A earlier coworker of me always made fun of me for driving a Ford, but he had to hitch a ride home with me when his BMW had a defective autobox😂
I have a 2001 Ford Focus just got 210000 800 miles on it at still going strong today I will never sell it
Never will I regret selling it...after 11 years changed the first battery,in 290000 km only "fixed" or changed 1 rear ball bearing...amazing car and much better than his rivals.not to mention zetec s 1.4 engine which was a working horse, and never let us down.
My first ford was an 89 XR3I, 2nd was 97 KA 3rd was 00 fiesta, 99 focus ZETEC, 99 mondeo and back to a 04 focus now, 1.4 LX 5 door with heated electric mirrors and electric sunroof, over 105000 miles on the clock.
3 of the mechanics at my work have focuses. The one guy has 3 in Immaculate condition. I'm about to buy one a 2007 last year of the first gen for 500 us dollars. Just needs a transmission.
Have owned a 1999 1.6 hatchback for 4 years now, with just 110k km on it, the last 60k by me, only thing that have failed (excluding normal wear and tear) is the coilpack and wiperstalk, it have served me well, last year I took it on a 4300 km weeklong trip from Voss, Norway (my hometown) to Northern Norway to visit the famous Lofoten Islands😊
This was car of the year! 👌🚘 Amazing...great to drive and could embarrass cars a lot more expensive as it handled very well!
It was fun to drive! 😃
This is the car !
My wife’s 2003 ebony is still going strong.on the latest focus you have to get the high powered cars to get the multilink suspension the same with the vw golf yet the cars are a lot more expensive to buy
On my 3rd Focus.. 1st was an '01 Focus Black Ltd Ed, 2nd '06 Focus ST-3, current car '57 ST-2. Great cars
Jesus...boring presentation though
Love my 2003.5 2.3 liter here in America. No rust drives like new. 168K MILES.
Change your belt before it's too LATE!!
@@inactiveaccount293 2 years late but: the 2.3L has a timing chain. It's Ford's version of a Mazda L engine.
322k and still going
Thanks
My dream car which I want to start driving
I'm lucky...here in USA I got the 2.3 Liter !😁
I love my Foci
Hocus pocus, ford designed a legend named focus!
BEST Car EVER
I have an 04 plate 1.6 and it's only done 64k!!
Had it for 2 years and been all over Scotland, England & Wales.
Best car I've ever owned.
I have a 03 1.6 ghia with the same mileage!! They're great!
Mines at 120k so you should be fine for a while longer !
@@conorf8091 Ive got almost 180k on the clock of my 1.6 Focus. I know someone who has one over 320k, both in kilometers.
I have a mk1 Focus and it’s such a nice car shame they like rusting
I owned 2 Ford Focuses. A 2001 model and a 2007..it was a good car till about 80,000 miles
Wtf my car is good as ever with 322k...
@@zavaraninoveuhorky they were never taken care of to last forever. Mine were ragged out before I bought em
I've got a 2001 Focus 1"8 zetec with about 97364 miles on still runs like a dream🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗
It's a car you either LOVE or HATE, "i like it" so it isn't then is it knob.
My 2.3 L PZEV puts out no more pollution than a fully electric vehicle produces from recharging FACT
Amazing, how they returned to boring design with next generations.
I much prefer the dash design on the Mark 1 and the back lights,, the mks 2,3,4,are boring ,, and the reverse lights are so out of place to the design that they look like an afterthought but in your face ,, I'm glad Iv got a mk1 2004 1.6 automatic
( unusual ) but very sharp and reliable.. I like the sound accelerating.. Official M P H , 115,, my car gave me 120 M P H. in the South of France .
17 years old 123'000 on the clock ..
Longer than the escort my mk1 is not longer or wider than my mates escort finesse estate
I would be tempted if it didn't have those ugly vertical taillights.
I hate Chevy and Honda....feel like sitting on floor.
Buff Barnaby new focus feels like sitting on the floor
The focus gen 1 is ugly as sin let’s not lie here
Check out the 3 door marl 1.5 st version. A lot different
Kidding, right?
Why are you here then ? I don’t get these people lol if I didn’t like A CAR I wouldn’t watch a video about said car stupid sausage mate
