I wish we could get an update for this tour. Aether's rig (black guitar) has undergone some definite changes. Either the pickup covers were removed or the pickups were totally swapped out, the bridge and stop hardware are now black instead of chrome show here, and the knobs on the pots are now black retro Fender 'witch hat' style, although I have no idea if any actual wiring was changed, and obviously Sodo (white guitar) is now playing a completely different rig (Fender Strat w/Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge & neck). It also looks like there's another bass in the lineup, I saw one picture where it looked like he was playing a black Jaguar instead of the normal Fender Jazz bass (in black or white, depending on the song)
Ghost is one of my favourite modern bands and their songs are so damn good to play, love their guitar tones so it's absolutely awesome seeing a video on their gear and I'm incredibly happy about that
Apparently Hagstrom are releasing an upgraded Fantomen, they're basically calling it Fantomen Custom so it could be the same specs as this current guitar.
I bought one and its a crazy feeling to play it. When you hit that E string in DGCFAB tuning you will go nuts. Dont worry about the custom, the ghouls only use them because they have more wood because they are playing live all the time. They want gear that will resonate right and dont go out of tune
Dude, that was like hearing Chinese - although I'm a guitar player using both real amps and Neural DSP plugins, I like to keep things simple.... hey that's why they need guitar techs
Wish they went into some more detail on Swiss's Viking. I'm running the stock one currently and wanted to see if they did any upgrades to it. Otherwise, awesome video!
We know all artists are using axfx or kempers, would be nice to know what amp models they are using or if the are using any of the other effects in the unit besides the amp sims
Well, live they're using the Fractal Axe-Fx III. Not sure if they use amps in the studio or just the modeler. In the old days when they used amps, they were running with Orange for guitar and bass.
@@guitechnickal How does the playback system work? Is it auto set to change settings based on a click track or do you still have to change presets and effects? Thank you
Probably just for touring. Don't have to worry about renting or using insufficient gear. I'm sure Tobias records with real amps in the studio. In the past when I saw them they had real amps but they weren't at the magnitude of fame that they are now. Then again, I know nothing, I'm just a fan haha
@@fancykarlmarx AxeFX (and other modellers) are just the standard now. It makes so much sense - financially and logistically. Amps and cabinets are unreliable, cost a lot to ship, and provide less flexibility when it comes to sound design (in ear systems, front of house, etc) Its just the same tone, night after night.
@@DavidMacVicar I get the logistical problems it solves and it is so much easier but I’m just an amp dork and I like what I like. Plus amp stacks look cool!

I never thought I'd see the day ghost got a rig rundown but I'm so fucking happy
Thanks for watching!
@@AmericanMusicalSupply I wish they would have went over the Ableton LIVE playback setup. But this was amazing!
I love that they have that small station for artist care. Almost makes me think that the Ghouls are human....
Those guitar techs give me life. amazing dudes :D
Definitely gives more to the rundown since they eat and breath that gear! He has that passion and it shows!

Love the term “Swiss army ghoul.”
i mean swiss army ghoul is indeed what he is called!
So basically the one they use is nothing like the one you can buy
Apparently Hagstrom are releasing an upgraded Fantomen, they're basically calling it Fantomen Custom so it could be the same specs as this current guitar.
@Christian Gendics same here, got one a couple months ago and I love it, it's sounds great for that price!
Hence why he said upgraded at the very beginning…
@@grenade.turtle my point still stands. The brand sells you a model that has little to do with the ones they use beyond shape
@@TheDistortionPrinciple then don’t buy it lol
I didn't understand 75% of what these guys said ... but I just love hard core gear guys nerding it out - :-D
I started cutting grooves in my tortex picks after watching this. Big difference. I will be doing that from now on.
THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!!!
Because, Geddy.
Love it!!
As a Canadian/Torontonian, that's a perfectly valid reason as well
Damnit I was ready to buy a Fantomen and now I see it’s nothing like what they use. Different neck, fretboard, pickups and hardware.

It’s likely to be all the same
@@timp.9582 no they changed the guitar rigs and bass quite a lot
@Tim P. Dewdrop uses a Strat now it'd be interesting to hear about that change
@@neighborbruce Dew's strat(s) have what appear to be Seymour Duncan 'Hot Rails' in the neck and bridge, as well as a Floyd Rose tremolo.
@TKID-17105 it's just an E.O.B. signature strat that has a sustainer and custom fender pickups iirc.

The Vikings are stock
Nick Goss Awesome. Thanks for the info Nick! Hope you will be joining the band again in 2021.
@@TheTributeBandSpirit I actually went back to my old job. But thank you!

No amps were harmed in the history of forever.

Yup. I love to know, as well. The Axe FX is a great kit. Best guitar gear I've ever purchased.
I ran into one of the guitarists online. At that time he was on the Kemper with a BE100 profile. Said he got it from MattFig.
Magic powder?
What if the “techs” were really just the Ghouls out of uniform?
They aren’t
That would mean they have no tech....
I meant if they have a tech but they’re acting like the tech.
Almost like where Tobias would dress up like a Ghoul to do interviews.
John Hall nah the ghouls are called Chris Catalyst and Per Erikson
@@camsty1225 nah, they are called nameless ghoul, and nameless ghoul
Damn after all this I still have no idea what amp model / amp theyre using? Orange something? Marshall JCM something?
*SANS Amp 2112....Because Geddy....*
I love this video. These guys are funny. I have been searching for a similar tone through my Helix. Anyone got any ideas what they do?
Tell me when you find one 🤣
Ax Fx Setting??? Please!
Anyone know what amps they use? Either live or in studio?

I think I saw a version where he at the end continued to talk about the midi playback, or I was just dreaming that?

Ghocaine.
I like how his tone changes when he moves onto the bass guitar and rightly so LMFAO! Just kidding bass guys!
what's the magic powder...
Either these guys really love their jobs or they're just really the wrong guy to ask.
What strings and gauge???
why mostly big bands uses semnheiser wireless over the shure? anyone know?
What speakers and cabs?
No speakers and cabs.
Anyone keeping up with this
The guy who presented the white guitar, might be the actual ghoul.
He isn't.
Every rig needs snus
I am pretty sure the techs do all the channel and effects switching for the Ghouls. Not that they use many effects.
It's all done via midi running from the playback system.
@@guitechnickal How does the playback system work? Is it auto set to change settings based on a click track or do you still have to change presets and effects? Thank you
@@michaelstewart2437 it all runs off of the click session.
@@guitechnickal hey buddy, just saw this. Hope all is well.
does this guy play in once human?
I swear the white guitar tech is the black guitar ghoul. Could be wrong. But....
Lmao noooooo it's not 😂
You are wrong.
White guitar(dewdrop ) and black guitar (aether) identities have been made public and none of the techs are even close to becoming the ghouls
There's no way this second tech isn't a serial killer lol
The techs are the actual ghouls 100% xd
I’m not going to lie, it breaks my heart they don’t use amps and cabs.
