Please check out the other bands that performed!

Its exactly like Ryan said, even if you're not a big Hanabie fan, grab yourself some tickets (they really reasonable $20 bucks for tickets in NYC) I went as a casual J-Rock fan on a friend's free ticket, not having a background in them outside of "We Love Sweets" I thougt the video and song were cool but not really my bag on the whole.
But experiencing Live...Holy Buckets!!! They put on a phenomenal show at the Gramercy Theatre in NYC! I walked out of there a true believer and haven't stopped listening to them for the past 10 days. There's some great fancam footage from that NY show on some guy Sharkattacks (or something else like that) RUclips Channel. Just search Hanabie Live NYC and a bunch of stuff will pop up.
Anyhow bottom line do yourself a favor and don't miss out on them if their coming anywhere near you. Great Great Show! So good I paid my buddy the $20 ( well worth it at twice the price ) and few rounds after the show.

Reposting my comment I just placed on Alan’s DICODEC post about HANABIE live:
I just now got out of their Whisky A Go Go show - last show of them sharing the stage with the two main opening acts (we had a third band too - called LUCRETIA). That pit was AWESOMELY FUN!!! Took me back to my San Francisco Bay Area Thrash Metal youth of the 80’s. Good friendly violent fun to quote EXODUS. Never thought I’d see a “wall of death” inside the Whisky A Go Go!
HANABIE had to have made a huge impression on all of the Sony Label execs in attendance upstairs.
Sound-wise I was prepared for an onslaught from the speakers, given what Alan described in his video and what you described as well, Ryan. But thankfully all of the bands, with exception of the first openers LUCRETIA, had great sound! The drums for LUCRETIA was overpowering the heavy catchy melodies they were performing. Still that made me curious to hear some of their studio tracks.
    Great fuckin’ show!!! 🤘🏾🇯🇵 🤘🏾

Glad you liked Fox Lake, Colorado represent. Sad to hear about the sound issues. Saw them on Sunday and it was amazing right up at the stage. I hope they get better things than the crates for them to stand on because Hettsu did take a misstep and if the crate was any closer to the stage edge she definitely would have went off but she caught herself and laughed it off like the pro she is. Yukina killed it, Matsuri did phenomenal and Chika is such a perfect fit. It was cool to see them bring Runoffs, Fox Lake, and Dropout Kings back on stage for shots and a group pic with the crowd as well as an additional song for an encore. Can't wait to see them again Friday at aftershock.

Great review! I agree Fox Lake was the best of the openers. It was great meeting you and your son. Thanks for hanging out.🤘🏻

Hey man there's tons of great fancam footage all over RUclips with some nice pristine camera work.
That's not this LoL. The guy who posted this and a few other songs from the show on his Channel shot it POV so it feels like you were there as though it were your experience through your own eyes.
Based on the position of his footage I was about 3 or 4 people to his right. I know this because what he recorded is what I was seeing and it brought me right back to the concert.
This video has some great Wall of Death Pit footage, plus Yukina stage diving into the crowd and floating by right next to his camera. Feels like your right there. His other videos are pretty sweet as well.
Another channel Reitam has some pretty good NYC footage as well much cleaner type.

I saw them in Iowa on Friday. Hanabie was amazing! I got front row right in front of Matsuri. It was super weird, I was so close I had to move back when ever she put her foot on the speaker. Near the end of the show Yakima jumped in the crowed and was bodysurfing. It was a crazy show. I also got the front row at the Babymetal show the day before! Still doesn’t seem real.

Hey Ryan, thanks for this and for mentioning the other bands (we all have to start somewhere...)! I would be very surprised if Hanabie didn't tour with their own sound person, so I don't know what happened there. Also, wasn't there a sound check?

Just saw them Saturday in Denver. I was up front by Hettsu and able to record the whole show.
I'd agree on the opening acts although the first band (Sin Eater) was different for us. They were pretty good, I liked Fox Lake a lot and Dropout Kings was OK, but every song sounded the same. The cool part was that Yukina was stage side during FL & DK watching and having fun singing along. Chika and Matsuri were also standing in the doorway at the back of the stage watching the openers. I'd say they are definitely enjoying this tour.
One thing videos don't really show is how tiny they are. I know Yukina is only 4'10 but I probably 5 feet from Hettsu for most of the show and she isn't much bigger.
It's also insane how hard Chika hits her drums. It must have done something to her family or owe her money.
All in all, it was a great night and I can't wait for a new album and tour.

Saw Babymetal and the band before them needed to get a new sound guy, when Babymetal came on the difference was like night and day. Very relieved. I will be seeing Hanabie at a festival, which usually have good sound, here's hoping.

Unfortunately I had the opposite experience in Boston at the MGM. Musically and vocally, Dethklok aren't really my cup of tea, but they sounded incredible. It was pumping me up in thinking just how great Babymetal would probably sound next, which really boosted my expectations. They sounded pretty good, but the case was kind of like what Ryan was saying in that they made them louder than it needed to be, and seemed to struggle with Su's vocals at times, as well as the backing tracks at times. The "too loud" part also caused the drums to get a little lost in the mix, which bummed me a little because I am a huge fan of Anthony Barone. All that being said though, it was an epic show, and greatly looking forward to seeing them again next year.

I have to agree sometimes louder is most certainly not better. I remember Motorhead! Always found that a venue sound guy can not properly compete with the guy the band brings with them - there is no way the desk should be making changes during the performance unless things have gone seriously wrong. Obviously the act will be louder than the soundcheck but a few tweaks at the start is all that should be necessary. Your venue here is not very packed is this typical of the US? Most shows I go to in UK are so packed you can't move & if there was a fire people will die.

I don't know. I'm just tired of groups like Spirit bomb, Fox Lake, Dropout Kings and even Hanabie. The best growler, imo, is Tatiana Smailyuk from Jinjer. Jinjer and Lovebites, imo, are the best metal bands, too! Thx, Ryan, for your great coverage of different bands, and the shots from Shibuya!
