How are quantum dots used in solar cell research?

This year´s Nobel Prize in Chemistry is about quantum dots. Erik Johansson, professor of physical chemistry at Uppsala University, explains what quantum dots are and what they can be used for. At his research lab quantum dots are used in research on solar panels, to capture various parts of the solar spectrum.
