It would be good if you compare reliability/ firmware/ hardware issues and heat production/ fan noise vs the Alienware X17 R2. I'm leaning more towards the X17 because many Razer users in the past have complained about a variety of these types of issues. Don't get me wrong Alienware could have them too, sometimes it's just the luck of the draw if you get a faulty unit, but I have noticed more issues associated with Razer Blade than the Alienware X17. Can you look into it?
I am curious of the sound quality. Razer seemed to have made a lot of effort into fine tuning the speaker but what intrigued me was the fact that the other reviewers had been avoiding showing the sound quality directly. Can you give a detail review on the speakers?
i got a razer blade 15 2020 version and from what i can tell, the speakers are ok but dont expect a huge bass presence. the speakers are average as you can hear clarity in songs and it does pretty well in games too so overall ok but asus m16 are way better in terms of speaker.

Ive owned my i9 version for nearly a month and i bloody love it. Almost perfection..... Looks amazing with the 4k screen and chassis but the thing gets hot as hell. If i could get the cpu temps down 10% then nothing on market would come close.
My games keep crashing on it. Its pissing me off. This is a 4600-dollar laptop and wtf why are the games freezing. Would anyone have any ideas? They changed the mother board and it seemed to work but now back to freezing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@@matturibe7037 the weat spot for keeping the system cool is in balanced mode, manual fans, on max fans. Try this and you shouldn't have any problems. Cod or warzone tend to put the system under stess resulting in throttling.

One thing I noticed is how well those branding stickers for gpu and cpu are placed. I have a $2000 Strix G15. It is a beautiful machine but for the price those stickers on it's chassis look cheap. Kudos to Razer for making it right.
just got the 11th gen version of this laptop. only $1,999 from microsoft store with my student discount and it was already on sale! by far the nicest laptop i have ever owned.
i got my blade 15 3070 ti, i7 12800H yesterday! and i couldnt be more happy with everything. The only issue i had was the heat in the middle which was probably because i had it constantly connected to its power birck. But overally it was AWSOME!!!! so happy about it!
@@JustinTechTips Oh lmao. Typo. i meant to say "HOT in the middle" because of the intel CPU. however i wasnt using max RPM (fan speed) so that would be probably why.
Well that's the big problem with razer laptops. They get very hot. They need to work on the cooling system in their laptops, especially when they are already overpriced.

I own a Razer Blade 15 2020 model, does the new model's overall keyboard and everywhere you touch also show the finger prints? I have to regularly clean the entire surface and keyboard because i like my pc being clean. The question i have for the review is, is the fan loud? i have the 2018 Razer Blade 15 and I suffered from some pretty bad battery swelling just after the warrenty period expired. So I'm wondering if the fan on the battery will mitigate the problem
Were you able to test out the screen brightness? I have the 15" model with the 2K display because I want Advance Optimus, but it's not bright at all. From what I've read it's only 300 Nits and the model I have looks it. I want to swap it out with the 17" model, but I wanted to make sure it was brighter before doing so.
I’ve owned the 2018 2019 and currently have two 2020 OLED with 2080s and a 2021 3080 15” Razer blades, I have a problem. Think I’ll get the 17” next time. I’ve had some issues with them but still the best made “Windows” laptops in my opinion.
But how many gaming laptops have you owned to make that statement? Razer laptops have bad cooling and dim screens. So considering the price,you're not getting value for money.

As someone whose had experience with both brands, though an x17 r1 ( 11-800H, 3080, 32gb ram) and blade 15 advanced ( i7-11-800H, 3070, 32gb ram), I can say that you can get a lot more performance out of alienwares due to their much higher tdps. Though razer is undoubtedly a lot smaller, making it easier to daily drive. Though the x17 is insanely thin so it isn't all that bad tbh. Though for casual gaming without regard for temps / battery bloat, I'd go for the blade 17. If you want more freedom with temps and overall system control, defo go for the alienware. For context, at full blast, my x17 r1 can slap my desktops ass most of the time ( i9-9900k, 2080 super, 32gb ram). It always beats it in cpu performance and trades blows, often times being better by about 5% or so in gpu based applications. Can't recommend alienware enough for their performance. Lmk if you have anymore questions 🙂
@@MEUP100 depends on your use case, if it's pure power your after with hella connectivity, I'll have to recommend the alienware. If it's portability and the sleek, minimalistic aesthetic you value you the most, the razer blade is it. Keep in mind you will have to regularly clean your blade due to it getting a shit ton of fingerprints haha. The razer is still a beast when it comes to gaming, though quitee pricey non the less. So whatever fits your lifestyle more really!

Het Justin! what gaming laptop and what specs should I get based on the following info I list of usage etc.So I plan to play WOT,Warthunder,(maybe A realistic FPS game like call of duty modern warfare but im not sure tbh so lets ignore that) all on max graphics,and run them over 60fps for sure.1440P would be nice to have but not neccesary.I wouldnt be gaming for too long periods maybe 2hrs max. I would be using it in 2 years for a engineeering college program that would last 4 years.so I dont want to end up with a overly outdated CPU. Gpu should be like a 3060,3060ti,or 3070,(3070 ti will be not necessary overkill)Im not sure if a 17inch will be to big but i defiately dont want less than 15.And it should make me fall in love with the looks like Alienwares do.

This year's X17 R2 has pretty bad speakers and heating issues.

As a owner of Razer Blade 15 advanced late 2019 model, its all fun and aesthetic until the the laptop keep giving a BSOD randomly. Checking on youtube, razer forum and reddit, there are many others like me. If there is Razer service center in your city or country good for you. if its not, good luck fixing it. It will be my last windows laptop. If this Razer laptop dies on me, I will try Macbook Pro next. One thing about this laptop i can vouch is that it got a good sound speaker

Could you please keep an eye on the CPU performance? In TimeSpy it seems to be way to low for 12th Gen CPU. Looks like if the GPU was pushed before the CPU will not pull enough power. Sometime the CPU score is 9500 and sometimes 13000. Besides that there seems to be G-Sync flickering in some games, could you please check that aswell?

I don't find gameplay in 4k to feel much better than 1440p personally on a laptop.

Can someone explain to me why gaming laptops nowadays have minimal ports? I got my 2016 model laptop in 2017 and it has 4 USB ports, one USB c thunderbolt, one HDMI, 2 mini display ports, one vga port, multi card reader, audio out/in and mic ports, Ethernet port and that weird port that lights up red I think it's optical or something. I may have also not mentioned one or two more ports. I paid 2400 for this laptop back in 2017. Modern laptops that cost 4k don't have half the ports mine does. What's up with that? Also why do modern laptops have very minimal ventilation vents on the bottom? The bottom of the laptop I mentioned has vents covering nearly the entire bottom side and even the left right and back has vents.
@@JustinTechTips ive only tried tarkov and lost ark , both has flcikering tho when its enabled. Also my battery seems to use about 5% within an hour when gaming/under load and then charge back up to 100% is this normal? its fine when not underload tho.
Hey Justin, very funny unboxing 👍...hope the hiccups are gone by now... I'm looking for a new laptop at the moment and this Razer is looking great...I don't mind little less performance in favor of fan noise as I think these 12th gen are performing great... After looking a lot of reviews, I think Razer is pushing the GPU more and CPU less (for gaming?) I'm more a content creator and for that reason I'm interrested in the 4K screen... but they only sale it with an i9 and 3080ti (most expensive model). The 4K screen is much brighter (like to work outside in shade and want at least 400/450 nits measured). Is silent mode on this device really silent? I'm also considering the Asus M16 (more fan noise) or MSI Z16P/Z17 (sadly only 350 nits)...
Lol thanks Dirk. Yeah they finally stopped after about an hr. At least it made the video more entertaining! Yes silent mode was similar to many of the other laptops I test in silent mode at about 41db

i got my blade 15 3070 ti, i7 12800H yesterday! and i couldnt be more happy with everything. The only issue i had was the heat in the middle which was probably because i had it constantly connected to its power birck. But overally it was AWSOME!!!! so happy about it!

Well that's the big problem with razer laptops.
They get very hot.
They need to work on the cooling system in their laptops, especially when they are already overpriced.

I own a Razer Blade 15 2020 model, does the new model's overall keyboard and everywhere you touch also show the finger prints? I have to regularly clean the entire surface and keyboard because i like my pc being clean. The question i have for the review is, is the fan loud? I don't mind the fan noise too much, unless it doesn't really cool off when you play games, but does the new model cool off better?

Were you able to test out the screen brightness? I have the 15" model with the 2K display because I want Advance Optimus, but it's not bright at all. From what I've read it's only 300 Nits and the model I have looks it. I want to swap it out with the 17" model, but I wanted to make sure it was brighter before doing so.

I’ve owned the 2018 2019 and currently have two 2020 OLED with 2080s and a 2021 3080 15” Razer blades, I have a problem. Think I’ll get the 17” next time. I’ve had some issues with them but still the best made “Windows” laptops in my opinion.

As someone whose had experience with both brands, though an x17 r1 ( 11-800H, 3080, 32gb ram) and blade 15 advanced ( i7-11-800H, 3070, 32gb ram), I can say that you can get a lot more performance out of alienwares due to their much higher tdps. Though razer is undoubtedly a lot smaller, making it easier to daily drive. Though the x17 is insanely thin so it isn't all that bad tbh. Though for casual gaming without regard for temps / battery bloat, I'd go for the blade 17. If you want more freedom with temps and overall system control, defo go for the alienware.
For context, at full blast, my x17 r1 can slap my desktops ass most of the time ( i9-9900k, 2080 super, 32gb ram). It always beats it in cpu performance and trades blows, often times being better by about 5% or so in gpu based applications. Can't recommend alienware enough for their performance. Lmk if you have anymore questions 🙂

@@MEUP100 depends on your use case, if it's pure power your after with hella connectivity, I'll have to recommend the alienware.
If it's portability and the sleek, minimalistic aesthetic you value you the most, the razer blade is it. Keep in mind you will have to regularly clean your blade due to it getting a shit ton of fingerprints haha. The razer is still a beast when it comes to gaming, though quitee pricey non the less. So whatever fits your lifestyle more really!

Het Justin! what gaming laptop and what specs should I get based on the following info I list of usage etc.So I plan to play WOT,Warthunder,(maybe A realistic FPS game like call of duty modern warfare but im not sure tbh so lets ignore that) all on max graphics,and run them over 60fps for sure.1440P would be nice to have but not neccesary.I wouldnt be gaming for too long periods maybe 2hrs max. I would be using it in 2 years for a engineeering college program that would last 4 years.so I dont want to end up with a overly outdated CPU. Gpu should be like a 3060,3060ti,or 3070,(3070 ti will be not necessary overkill)Im not sure if a 17inch will be to big but i defiately dont want less than 15.And it should make me fall in love with the looks like Alienwares do.

This year's X17 R2 has pretty bad speakers and heating issues.

As a owner of Razer Blade 15 advanced late 2019 model, its all fun and aesthetic until the the laptop keep giving a BSOD randomly. Checking on youtube, razer forum and reddit, there are many others like me. If there is Razer service center in your city or country good for you. if its not, good luck fixing it. It will be my last windows laptop. If this Razer laptop dies on me, I will try Macbook Pro next. One thing about this laptop i can vouch is that it got a good sound speaker

Could you please keep an eye on the CPU performance? In TimeSpy it seems to be way to low for 12th Gen CPU. Looks like if the GPU was pushed before the CPU will not pull enough power. Sometime the CPU score is 9500 and sometimes 13000. Besides that there seems to be G-Sync flickering in some games, could you please check that aswell?

What program is used to check temps and fps?
Can someone explain to me why gaming laptops nowadays have minimal ports? I got my 2016 model laptop in 2017 and it has 4 USB ports, one USB c thunderbolt, one HDMI, 2 mini display ports, one vga port, multi card reader, audio out/in and mic ports, Ethernet port and that weird port that lights up red I think it's optical or something. I may have also not mentioned one or two more ports. I paid 2400 for this laptop back in 2017.
Modern laptops that cost 4k don't have half the ports mine does. What's up with that?
Also why do modern laptops have very minimal ventilation vents on the bottom? The bottom of the laptop I mentioned has vents covering nearly the entire bottom side and even the left right and back has vents.

I'm looking for a new laptop at the moment and this Razer is looking great...I don't mind little less performance in favor of fan noise as I think these 12th gen are performing great... After looking a lot of reviews, I think Razer is pushing the GPU more and CPU less (for gaming?) I'm more a content creator and for that reason I'm interrested in the 4K screen... but they only sale it with an i9 and 3080ti (most expensive model). The 4K screen is much brighter (like to work outside in shade and want at least 400/450 nits measured). Is silent mode on this device really silent? I'm also considering the Asus M16 (more fan noise) or MSI Z16P/Z17 (sadly only 350 nits)...
Lol thanks Dirk. Yeah they finally stopped after about an hr. At least it made the video more entertaining! Yes silent mode was similar to many of the other laptops I test in silent mode at about 41db
