I saw this version last month, Simon was genuinely inspiring. I have never seen a more dark and bloody version of King Lear, it made the tragedy all the more harrowing. Mendes you're a genius!
Interesting conception of Lear the character! AND Lear the play. Wish I could have seen this production (or, at the very least, that such productions were captured on dvd, as the Globe has been so succesfully doing) And I really enjoyed Mendes' talk on his process, highlighted with great examples, because it is such pragmatic artistry. And his honesty
