I saw the Lehman Trilogy yesterday as it was broadcast live from the National Theatre in London at a cinema out on Long Island where I live. I was glad to see the theatre packed as the more people who attend broadcast shows, it is my hope that more will continue to be broadcast. To say it was incredible would be an understatement. The show is epic in not only its storyline, but how the story is told by three actors with the most talent that I've ever seen on stage. They tell the story fluidly shifting between third person and first person narrative with all three actors taking on the form of various characters throughout the play. The set design was simple yet so effective, the music took on a character of its own, and if I had to choose one word to sum it up, this play is Shakespearean. While long (it is a 4 hour play), it moves fast grabbing and holding one captive within its first few minutes. If you enjoy theatre, this is an absolute must see, and what better way to see it than at a cinema close to home, being affordable ($25) and filmed in such a way as to give you the best seats in the house. I hope to see it again as it will show three more times, all in August, specifically August 1st, 15th and 24th. Thank you indeed! A few cardboard boxes and theatrical genius of such perfection that, as with the original production of Peter Shaffer's 'Royal Hunt of the Sun', it is impossible to imagine a better rendering, anywhere, anytime.
The Lehman Trilogy is a three-act play by Italian dramatist Stefano Massini. A history of Lehman Brothers, it was originally conceived as a radio play and it was first aired on Rai Radio 3 on November 26, 2012 Get your Cheap The Lehman Trilogy New York Tickets today. I went to the broadway preview last friday. Wow! it was the best piece of art ive probably ever seen in my life
I totally agree. I saw it last night, March 9th and it was the best play I have ever seen.
I saw the live screened production and I would see it again in a heartbeat. I would pay to see this and other items of NT's back catalogue.
Loved seeing the production live in NYC and this discussion added another layer and insight to the piece. Thanks for posting!
YOU SAW IT LIVE?!?
