Fake Luxury Shoe Store Prank proves Luxury is just Perception - Payless

  • Payless, a low-cost shoe retailer, opened a fake luxury shoe store called "Palessi" and filled it with the brand's inexpensive footwear. Consumers paid up to $600 for shoes that retail for $20-$40. Does this experiment prove that designer brands are just perceived as being luxurious rather than actually being luxurious?

Marketing wins! The gullible loses. I love designer clothes but my goodness the crazy things people do to own them. No thanks. I get most of mine used or new but secondhand. It’s not worth the price they charge. At least if I make the stupid decision to buy designer items full price I do it fully informed that luxury is a waste, luxury is not an investment, and luxury doesn’t automatically equate quality or status. It’s still insanity when I do make such a purchase and I know partly it has to do with my insecurity as a child and other unresolved issues. It’s annoying to be so self aware about my own feelings insanity but at least I don’t make stupid proclamations about clothes being of value. These mindless sheep. CRINGE.

There was multiple occasions when I bought cheap shoes thinking "I can't believe they're that good for such a low price", and only a week or so into wearing those I came to realize why are they so cheap. It's not so easy to tell how something would wear and age in the long run by just trying it on for a few minutes. So I understand why this Palessi thing worked. It just wouldn't work for too long.

I Spent a reasonable amount of money on shoes that actually were durable and improved my quality of life as I wore them daily for a year at least. They weren't the most expensive but they were quality I could afford. I wish they were still made but they decided to upgrade them which made them less comfortable and less durable for more money. The price is not always the marker of the best quality .

If you died TODAY, where would you be spending eternity? Have all your sins been forgiven or are you still hoping that you're a good enough person to earn a spot in heaven.
The reality is that no one can earn a spot, our sin disqualifies us. But the God news is that Jesus paid for our qualification by dying on our behalf taking the punishment that we deserved.
JESUS said, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son; that WHOEVER believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16
Nothing is more important than your eternal destination. Please, don't say, "When I get older I'll get right with God' or 'I'll get serious with Jesus one day when I'm ready.'
Don't wait any longer, today is the day of salvation. Get right with God today, for tomorrow very well might be too late.
We invite you to REPENT and accept that Jesus Christ is Lord of your life by praying this simple prayer out loud right now...
'Heavenly Father, I turn away from my old life and repent for my sins. I believe that Jesus came for me, that Jesus died for me and that Jesus rose again for me so that I can be forgiven and receive eternal life. I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, receive the gift of eternal life. I ask you to fill me with the Holy Spirit and lead me for the rest of my life. In Jesus name - Amen.

Real luxury is discreet, brand is hidden and most of time clothes are tailored to fit the person wearing them …like Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg, or Elon Musk , you wouldn’t see them in any of those brands unless they’re paid to wear them 😂, they wouldn’t do it for free.

In Jesus name - Amen.

yungtiide if you talk about Off White and other lucky brands of the moment, that’s true. But if you look at Zegna or Loro Piana that make cashmere and silk jumpers only, you are paying also for the quality. In any case you are right, we usually pay the name and not only the quality (no name/not from a luxory brand cashmere jumper = 300€), but it’s not true claiming that their quality is the same as a replica

I know I'll never be valued because my "brand" is actually an idealistic no-brand ("people should value the work not a display and surroundings just as I do" kinda thinking, apparently I should behave queenish and add at least one 0 to my prices.)
