- Abandoned Cottage Resort Ontario, Canada. Explore #46
This cottage resort was a happening place back in its day. This 10 cottage resort was built in the early 1940’s. Each cottage had their own kitchen, bathroom and 2 bedrooms with beautiful views of the lake. People that stayed here enjoyed great fishing, campfires, barbecuing and family time relaxing on the water. They once had a bait and tackle shop, camp store, gas, docks, boat rentals and a nice little beach. Looking at the drone footage the camp store, beach and docks are no longer here. Now the resort sits abandoned and forgotten.
They were trying to sell this property by “power of sale” so I hope one day maybe they can reopen a new resort here but most likely the new owner will demolish the cottages and build a new cottage or house on the property.

About me:
I have been exploring abandoned places since I was a child and now I would like to film the explores and share the videos with you.
My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.
If you have a location you would like to share with me or want me to explore for you please send me an email at abandonedurbexcanada@hotmail.com and I will give you full credit for the share in the description and during the video if you choose.

Maybe I missed it on your video, but the location of this property, is it on Georgian Bay?
I have not been to Georgian Bay in decades but I do remember the water was clear. I live North of Muskoka and from what I've seen from Orillia to North Bay the water is the colour in this video, high iron content.
@@clownnut1925 Huntsville has water like this, i.e. the Burnt River.
No it’s way east of that. Halliburton area
Well gee isn't Huntsville between Orillia and North Bay?
Those cottages are what a cottage should be, not the mansion that people build today. A very nice find.
Yes we think alike 😁👍
I agree, less stuff to have to maintain while you’re there too.
Agreed Marce
I agree. But likely to get bought up and yes, that mansion of a cottage will be built to be used 4 weeks a year.
Marce I absolutely agree. My grandparents bought a cottage early 1960's in Georgian Bay area, I love it and spent most of my childhood summers there in the 90's... but there are SO many things falling apart now, I have lately given up hope of "restoration".. only thing to do is reclaim what is salvageable such as wibdows, doors, the lamps and cedar panelling from the 1960's, and rebuild new and re-incorporate what was left
Thank you for this footage. I bought this place in March of 2020 and currently redeveloping it with five cottages and our forever home. It is a great spot with a lot of history and we can’t wait to get it back up and running. Really enjoyed your video.
Awesome! Wish you all the best. Such a great spot 😁
Great news!
Congrats on your purchase. What a BEAUTIFUL property!
Where is this, anybody know?
I totally don't get why this place would be abandoned. Isn't this the kind of place thats perfect to get away from it all?? Its really sad to see it go to waste. The cabins were once really cozy and the views are spectacular.
What I don't get is why person caretaker maybe just left room full of stuff if u were going to walk away afterward???? Unless someone had plans to renovate but found no interest to do so if no one would come..
I guessed the owner pass away
@@ruthiekest3218, it's amazing how people lose interest and maintenance becomes preventative. Without a vision the people perish. Proverbs 29:18 😶
Oh the memories that were made here for so many families! “The Good ol Days” when the summer cottage was just THAT! A place to relax, fish, boat, and enjoy one another’s company♥️ Now it’s “I’m bored” and “there’s nothing to do here!” ☹️ if children only realized the true beauty and freedom of gods country ALONE!!🙏🏼
Hi Jodi. I'm Liz. I was born in 1960. And you are right! THOSE REALLY WERE the GOOD OLD DAYS!!
Exactly while the whole family sits on there phones and talk's to other people 🙄
The wood (ceilings, floors, walls) in those cabins is GORGEOUS.
If I were to buy a property like that, I would insist on saving as much wood as possible, if I felt the buildings couldn't be saved and had to be torn down.
Then I would re-use the wood to build new cabins (or to help restore the ones that could be saved.)
Thanks for the tour.
So peaceful to look out over the lake and listen to the water lapping at the shore. Such a beautiful place. Why hasn’t anyone tried to rebuild some of the cottages? So sad.
I like the way you pause the camera in each room, giving us a chance to take it all in before we move on...yet you do not take too much time and make us impatient. Good videography!
Thank you very much! I try to film they way I like to watch urban exploring videos 😁👍
I agree he gives you chance to take it all in
Those cabins are so worth saving. I love that whole area. I hope someone buys the property and makes it a resort again. It is so beautiful.
It would cost more to fix than bulldozing them and starting over.
It would be neat if they could save them.
@@erinbricker-urbanhistorian5803 It's not worth it to try to save them, you'd have to pour all new foundations under each one
@Cat Magic a foundation is what enables any structure to be built.
@Cat Magic then how do you expect the structure to stand up?
I can almost hear the children laughing and playing on the shore with the bbq's cooking something great!
I was thinking the same thing. Summer vacations "up north". Fun times, especially when you're a kid. All the inconveniences that drive your parents nuts are the most fun for you.
Don't forget the crickets and peeper frogs, and the deep call of toads, loons if this is Muskoka, and the fish jumping and splashing back in the water. Oh and campfires and roasted marshmallows! This place is so special! Brent does an awesome job of presenting these forgotten places!
Agreed, Clown Nut
That’s what I love and hate about abandoned places, imagining the people who used to be there. I get the whole titanic thing when I think about it. The part at the end when rose is dying and the boat goes from a wreck in the water back to its original glory. It is so bitter sweet!
I thought that too, hearing happy sounds and little feet running and splashing.
It’s odd that someone hasn’t built something new on the site. Such a lovely, tranquil property.
Beautiful location,,for when it’s warm. Maybe it was too remote to be profitable.
Give it time.
I agree The Rose. 🙂👍
Gavin Mcvey I
I would also rebuild to maybe rent out or have friends over. Make it year round so the property could be enjoyed as much as possible.
Time passes...sad a little but it all good. It's a natural thing. Like you say...probably indeed was a happening spot in it's day. Kids grew and learned about life...people relaxed...lives were lived. Bittersweet stuff. Nice to ruminate about life and see these old places.
You nailed it! Sad indeed to think about lives that at one time were lived here. Bittersweet!
Must be many happy memories for families from trips to this place. Much of the 1950's style is still apparent (the pink and white asphalt bathroom tile; armchairs and remaining furniture) but looks like in the 70's some "updating" was done here and there (the oranges and green linoleum flooring). Overall, the place doesn't seem to have ever had a total updating--I wonder why not? Eventually, without modernizing, I can imagine people might have considered it shabby and stopped coming, but if this is true, what a shame. Someone should redevelop the lovely spot!
that must have been a nice place in it's day. it's a shame it's abandoned.
Tranquility at its finest! I can imagine the sounds of the night in the summer! 💕
Crickets and frogs, etc.
Great that you included a photo from the resort’s past.
I would love to bring life back into those cottages!
Me too!
Thank you for another beautiful adventure. I can imangine drifting off to sleep to the sounds of water lapping the rocks. 😊😊😊
Me too 😁
Such a beautiful location. Cabin #9 is my favorite, being it's condition and right by the water. Thanks for sharing!!!

What simple and wonderful summer nights must have been spent at these cabins . They look well constructed, it could be brought back! We need those simple times back in our lives . Thanks for sharing.
We sure do Toni 😁🌲🐿🦝🍺
What a gorgeous spot. Must have been amazing in it's hey day.
You are fast becoming one of my favorite urban explorers 😃 thank you
Oh wow thank you! 😁
What a Great spot. Brings back memories of the cottage life when I was young. Cheers!
Thanks Kenny! Cheers 😁🍺
Cottage no.9 is definitely my favourite too, that would definitely would come back to life
Hey I need a piece from that 1950's stove! I still use mine
now you know where you can get the piece you need. :)
~ Sad to see these places, in such disrepair~ :( So thankful for people like you * * Brent * * :) To share it to the rest of us~ *Too cool for school * !!
I live in a cabin in the woods, in Southern West Virginia. Many abandoned places from settlers etc. I hope some will document them~!! Were not too far from the
Hatfield & McCoy area ~! Thanks again ~Peace~
Beautiful.... Just like a mini vacation those old stoves are great thankyou for sharing

I love these cabins! Not mega huge nor are they tiny houses - a happy in between. Plus the vintage furnishings! I know what heaven will look like now 😍😍
Such a gem. Maybe it will all be saved someday. Its a prime location.
Absolutely Beautiful location Wow what an explore! More questions than answers for sure! Love the sound of the water lapping on the shore Great location!! Thank you for the awesome filming and drone work Brent it is appreciated!! ⛵️ 🚤 ⚓️
Glad you enjoyed it! I love the outdoor explores 😁👍🌲
What a beautiful place - you can just imagine how busy it was and probably a lot of fun ! Love your footages - keep them coming !!
Thanks Anita!
Wow ! That is my kind of dream spot for a vacation 💖 Thanks for sharing ! Send some more 👍
I enjoyed this👍🏼 Very similar to a place my family went to in the 60’s. Built in beds/bunk beds were common in these types of cottages. Please do more cottage explores. No Basements 😬 😱 😂
Sounds great I look for more cottages 😁🌲
Number 9 on the point was my favourite. The rippling sound of the water and birdsong; what more could you ask for. Nice find and beautiful drone scenes.
Thank Christine! So peaceful there. Would be nice to sleep hearing the water all night 😁
Love the nature sounds!
Those cottages were great, people enjoyed their time away. We had rentals like that where I live until folks started wanting more luxurious accommodations. These simple cabins allowed for more fun time and less upkeep. The cottages people build here now are larger than our homes! How times change. Great location, been looking forward to watching this one! Ty 👍😁
This place is so cool , I like it . So quiet and peaceful . 🤗👍🤗👍
Really interesting explore. Bet they were a nice getaway at one time. Thanks for sharing 👍😃
Thank you 😁👍
I love the wood on the inside of these cottages.
Veronica Cole I hope they salvage the wood ! It’s beautiful !
I’m so excited to find your channel, I’ve been exploring abandoned cabins in the Yukon recently. So some that go back to the gold rush days, the history is fascinating! This was a gem of a find, all those cottages. I can just imagine how booming and beautiful it was back in the day. Look forward to exploring more of your channel!
Thank you! I’m glad you found me😁👍
Lovely tour of what was once a summer place for families and so quaint.
Agreed!
This place is awesome! Imagine how much fun it was when it was functional. Great place to vacation.
Loved the inlet. Build a log cabin, with a porch to sit on in the evening. Have a little boat to go fishing on or just let it drift across the water while relaxing. My favorite living on the water. So peaceful. Thanks for sharing
You read my mind 😁
Did you see any critters on this trip? Doesnt look like any live foilage. You saw one chipmunk maybe there are more?
@@connied8841 well,it was early spring, so the foliage was just getting started and if there is one chipmunk, there will be dozens more. Among other things!
UNBELIEVABLE!!! Love it
Looks like perfect place to me. Great exproling. Thanx! ☺️
Absolutely beautiful..Bet it was something back in the day
Well said.
Your drone footage has really taken your videos to a new level. Very professional.

Liked the camera in the fridge. Funny. Thanks for the tour. Loved the sound of the water lapping the shore. Wish I was there.
Wow, what a cool, beautiful place!! Love it!
Me too 😁
Your intro music has a haunting quality, which is so appropriate for your videos. i find your videos fascinating but also makes me somewhat sad, seeing these once useful and often majestic buildings succumbing to the elements
Thank you William 😁
What a beautiful country we have! That piece of land must be worth a fortune
I heard the bank sold it for approx. $500k

What such beauty you have taken in all these cottages! Thank you i love the water sound it is relaxing . Brent i wanna thank you for sharing this beauty . Your friend Barbara from FL.USA
Stayed in a couple of motels in this type of condition
But honestly, sad to see something that was once enjoyed fall into such neglect
When you opened the fridge, I thought...nooooo..fooled us ...we were inside! Another good video! Take care ❤️ 🇨🇦
😂 this one was clean
If I find a fridge in an abandoned place... I always open it up.
Thank you. Number 9 was my favorite. This place reminds me of the cottages at Marmora when I was growing up. It was a place we called Bonter`s cottages. My best memories.
oh how amazing beautiful resorts🙄👍😍
You're so darn cute! The drone footage was awesome, and the scenery absolutely gorgeous!! Especially when you paused and videoed the water washing up to the shore against the rocks!! Totally soothing!! I could just sit there listening to the water! The Cottages were so awesome to see!! Stunning views of the water!! Noticing the wildlife,! You're the best!! ♥️
Oh thank you Peggie! 😊 your very kind. I loved the nature sounds as well. Glad you liked this place. I’m trying to do more places like this. 😁🌲
It's sad to see them sitting going to waste. Very 💔
Your videography, music, and minimal narration is PERFECT. I'll watch your videos anytime. Thank you for sharing them with us. 😊
Oh your great! Thank you😁👍
Thanx for taking us along.

Beautiful area, you can tell the houses were well built back then with superior wood. Once a great place to vacation I’m sure ! Thank you for another excellent video ! The drone footage is amazing !
Thank you very much 😁
Wow, that's absolutely a gorgeous place. I was born in the wrong country lol.
Thanks for taking us there!
Your welcome 😁
Thanks for the tour.
My father emigrated from Hungary to Ontario in the fifties. He’s been dead close to forty years but a friend of his told me he had come to build cottages. I spent my very early years in midland and although it was cottage country he didn’t work on any cottages that I saw. Maybe it was something like this.
A lovely spot, I would love to stay there., shame it been left to full into ruin.
Same here, it would be awesome to stay there!
Wow! Hope it reopens. Looks like a great place to stay.
Sound of water is so peaceful..good camera work.. surprized to see the 1 in better shape... must have been a good place for families. Thanks for explore...
Would love to make that into a tiny home village!!
Pretty great explore! Reminds me of the summer resorts of my childhood in the 50 s and 60s in Northern California and the PNW. It was always the same. First day sitting around the cabin, board and a bunch of whining about going to the store to look around and buy something, second day having a blast swimming and playing in the dirt with sticks. Third day don’t even see the kids , cant find them except miraculously at meals or to pick up a life jacket and canoe.
Kids just love the outdoors and nature until they get older and video games and cell phones come into the mix 😂
Wow that was awesome! I could stay there all day too! I also loved the cottage on the point! Also it had a stone grill or BBQ pit in the back! Thanks!!
Your welcome 😁
Now thats a place I would buy and fix up, a retirement dream!! Thanks for sharing !
I love it too 😁👍
@@AbandonedUrbexCanada some need to be demo'd but some have good bones...yup a nice big cottage for year round at the end, and fix up the other 6 or 7 to rent out seasonally...about a couple mil. will do it ....whatdaya say partner ....lol
I can’t be the only out there who would LOVE to go to a place like this ~ fixed up modestly, like a Habitat for Humanity project (my passion!) where miracles are made by regular citizens. Think Writer’s Retreat. Or post-Covid healing spot. No electronics or noise other than voices and musical instruments. Canoes, hammocks ~ and books to be read. Essentially, camping with a roof. My heart explodes watching your videos (with fear that you are going to crash through the floor with no one there to help you!) and with sadness for it having being abandoned, for the owner’s original dream and for its potential to be restored to what it once was. Not 2020 modern lights and glitz. (My small 112 year old ‘cottage’ home in an old apple orchard in BC feels very Pioneer-esque and is a haven from modernity.) I’d buy one of those old fridges if you could help me get to it. I adopt antique, unloved items and love them back to life. Happy to donate to the owner of the property or to a charity of your choice... If I knew where this place was, I’d be there infusing it with TLC so it could remind people of a kinder, gentler time. The world needs that right now. HUGE thanks for this video.
Your welcome Andrea! You have the right idea! No wifi aloud 😂 this amazing place is in Ontario, Canada I I heard it just sold as the bank owned it for awhile. Hope they reopen this place one day 😁👍🌲
It would be amazing if someone who stayed in the cabins when it was a resort would comment on this. If they were kids at the time they would be 65 or 70 now so I don't think there would be many adults who stayed there still alive.
Oh, come on, 70 isn't old any more. There are a lot of us around and some of us are very busy every day.
Thats what iv been looking for a comment from someone that used to stay there
Great video!! I used to stay in ones similar in Minnesota when we went fishing!♥️♥️
I like your production, amazing places, good work with camera and sound there is no annoying sound and also information about place, it's just how i imagine quality. Thanks for your videos.
Oh thanks Peter! I appreciate your positive comment. Glad you enjoy my videos 😁👍
What a great place for someone to set up a bunch of those tiny homes and either build a year round community or rent them out by the week, If i ever win the lottery....:)
Jeff McGowan I hear ya about winning the lottery
Ur lucky there wasn't a dead skunk in the fridge u opened.
Jeff, that sounds awesome!
@@waynebentzen8554 I'd be more concerned about all the asbestos in those floor tiles!!
I know exactly where this is as I have a cottage nearby, I also was interested when I saw the listing on MLS but I know from renovating my cottage that it is too close to the water and you will not be allowed to make a larger cottage. You can work within the original footprint though. So you could just rebuild the cabins.
Yes your right, the bank owned it and I think It just sold for approx. $550k (power of sale)
Abandoned Urbex Canada Thanks for the great video! It is an absolutely beautiful area with I’m sure a great history! I hope the new owners can bring it back to its original glory so many more can enjoy.

What a great explore.
What a beautiful place, even in its current condition. I bet it was quite the place for family vacations back in the day. Hopefully, someday it will be restored and enjoyed again.
Adams lake had the same set up we went up every year for about 10 years till the place sold pieces at a time.
Beautiful location! Can't understand why anyone would just leave it like that.
Me neither
They were built in a time we today cant fathom. An average person with skills and ambition could go to a place like that and build their dream. Now only a rich person could afford the taxes and government regulations it would require to build that.
Wow! This is so cool!
Wow this is beautiful. I just love this.
Before today’s campers and campgrounds with rustic type cabins for rent this is how people vacationed. Beautiful views. Surprised it hasn’t been renovated with views like that
I have a friend with cabins like this in northern ontario and when hes gone the same thing could happen his kids know the work and dont want any part. So sad I would love no 9 on the point
great place but I have a feeling I know why someone hasn't done anything with it. All those cottages need septic or holding tanks and they all sit on rock! Probably just a hose from the kitchen sinks to drain outside, and maybe a hole dug with a drain pipe in it for the toilets. Min. of Enviro is very picky about that kind of stuff now especially when you're right on the water.
Yes your right. I’m not sure if they ever had proper septic tanks installed. To pul new ones in for all those cottages would be around $100,000
@@AbandonedUrbexCanada Possibly more! I know for one home now, it's a min. $30,000. With all these places sitting on pretty much rock and surrounded by water, good chance it would be a big fat NO from the powers that be when it comes to permits. You know where a weeping bed would be running into! Raw sewage in lakes is very much frowned upon! I don't imagine they ever had proper septics. Only way you find out would be crawl under one. You should have stumbled across the lid for either a septic or holding tank somewhere outside. Likely concrete with an iron handle perfectly suited for lifting, or just really stubbing toes!
Beautiful piece of property
Lookin good. great explore. Thanks for sharing
Thank you😁👍
It always makes me mad to see abandoned buildings that look like someone came along and just had to flip everything over bust the toilets and windows. Why? Do people just hate things so much they have to destroy it all. Sure the owners at the time would do that before leaving. Those plastic lawn chairs are not that old people come there and hang out outside for the day I imagine in last 10 yrs
Would love to see period photos of this place in its heyday, say--1949? 1955 o so? I bet it was active and popular!
I posted a photo in the video of the place in the 1940’s you must have missed it
Yes, that would be cool
That view is awesome
WOW. BRENT.!! a big jump back n time .!!! thanks 4 taking us alll along to see what they did 4 camps back n the day .!!! b safe tho remember the soft spots and sneaky drops.
them light fixtures and wires show the ages as 1945, or so with Nub and tube wires. and that was a cheap build that worked well. I think they was build for they lasted better then many houses....
