    6:43 If anyone’s curious, the knobs override the software unit ID I believe the next time the controller boots up. When I bought a used controller it was driving me crazy that it kept changing back to a different ID until I checked the manual and realized the knobs set the ID. Only controllers without knobs should need to use the software to set IDs

    I was able to convert / config my CMB24D (floodlights) that were running connected to my FPP with LOR dongle to run off my F16v3 using DMX and a standard cat5 cable. Tested with xlights, then FPP, the pushed thru a few sequences.
    Thank you.

    I'm just double checking here, but your able to have a LOR controller CTB16PC and don't need to do this or you need to do this for the controller to work on Xlights ?

    I have a LOR controller along with a Raspberry Pi and a USB485B, I have worked hours trying to figure how to play my songs using the FPP app, yet no lights are turning on... What do I do?

    • @LearnChristmasLighting
      @LearnChristmasLighting  11 месяцев назад

      My gut reaction is that the Pi doesn't work well with the USB485b dongle you have. I would try direct from a PC and see if that works (as the problem could be elsewhere in your setup)

      @@LearnChristmasLighting Nothing was wrong with the pi, or the dongle. it was just that we did the configuration wrong in XLights. Thank you for your help though!

    My lights have gone crazy. when I try to run them, only half change and some patterns dont even do what they are programmed to. I have 367 5v led strip. 5v power supply ( 40amp)

    • @LearnChristmasLighting
      @LearnChristmasLighting  3 года назад

      You most likely have a power injection problem. Check my videos and posts on power injection, and if that doesn't solve it then you have a configuration issue. More help inside learnchristmaslightingacademy.com/learn-christmas-lighting-academy/

    So I can buy an LOR controller then use xlights to make shows? Will I be able to use songs from Spotify for example, to make these shows?

    • @LearnChristmasLighting
      @LearnChristmasLighting  2 года назад +1

      You can, but there are better controllers out there. You'll want to purchase your songs from a site you can download them from, such as Amazon Music or iTunes

    I know this video is 2 years old. Why is a Falcon controller needed? I am sorry to say I do not follow the logic here. You do not mention in the video that the 485 dongle cannot be used with xLights directly to control an LOR Controller, is that the case? It appears that you videoed this before being prepared.
    So, please clarify for me what is what. I do not want to use a Falcon Controller. Are there options that do not require one?

    • @LearnChristmasLighting
      @LearnChristmasLighting  Год назад

      You have to get DMX out of your show controller somehow in order to program the LOR controllers. Since most of our viewers here do pixel shows (or are going to), that's typically the easiest way. the LOR Dongle should in theory work with xlights, it's just harder to configure and not the best choice for those that already have a pixel controller with the DMX output

    This is a very good video for setup but I've tried this method over and over and cant get it to work for me. I got far enough to the LOR box to light in test mode but when I tried to run it on a sequence it won't come on. I have a few props that work in Xlights but I have many A/C lights that I still use in my display. I even tried to use the USB dongle out and my box seems like it doesn't receive data CBT16PC up to date on firmware. Any ideas what I could try next?

    • @LearnChristmasLighting
      @LearnChristmasLighting  4 года назад

      Hmm...I am not sure how to get the LOR USB device to work in xLights (or even if it can). I think it's easiest/best to come from the DMX output of a pixel controller rather than the USB device. Are you connected that way? If the test mode of your controller works, but not a sequence, then there is something mis-matched between your xLights configuration and controller configuration.

    • @tankminder
      @tankminder 2 года назад

      I struggled with this as well. Using DMX I could get it to work occasionally, but not consistently. I ultimately gave up and for the last several years, I've used use the LOR USB Dongle attached directly to the Rasberry Pi Master (running FPP) that I use as my show controller. That works fine from XLights as the first universe and first 12 channels. Even then, once or twice a season, I'll notice the lor box will not output analog during a show. I've found rebooting the master usually fixes it. Frustrating but I like having some analog elements in my show so I put up with it.

    I have bought an LOR and I want to use it with xlights and not it not picking up the single

    • @LearnChristmasLighting
      @LearnChristmasLighting  3 года назад

      Then you definitely have a problem! I would start with trying the test mode on your pixel controller for whatever serial output you are using. If that works, then the problem is in your xLights configuration. If that doesn't work, then you have a problem with your output setup on your pixel controller and/or the addressing on your LOR box. Once that's working, then test again via xLights to see if it works all the way through!

    • @LearnChristmasLighting
      @LearnChristmasLighting  3 года назад

      Right, but it is not a network-based controller. It uses DMX, which requires with a USB-DMX box or a pixel controller with a serial output to connect to the LOR controller.
