sometime 30 or 40 years ago, those cars were somebodys big investment, and im sure many were there owners pride and joy. im so glad someone saved those beauties from the crusher i am in the process of restoring a 1956 packard patrician i found next to a horse barn. it was only 2 weeks away from the crusher. a new battery and it still ran like new!
You have my total and absolute respect - I love classic American muscle cars and the world needs more people like you. Too many of these beautiful pieces of history are being needlessly destroyed forever. It makes me glad that you do what you do and I wish you every success. Some really nice cars in there too!! One day, I really want to own a Charger, so when you've restored one of these, let me know! :-)
Mad kudos to you, my friend. Always breaks my heart to see good steel sitting and rusting by the side of the road...glad to see someone doing something about it.
this gives me hope. i wish more people would save these old cars. their part of our history. someone was once proud to own these cars. someone in a factory worked hard on it to build this. these cars once made america great. its a shame b/c if we do crush old cars they are gone forever. no matter how hard you try you can remake a classic.
What I'm in awe is that some of these cars where whittled down to almost nothing but they have been saved. This vid gives me some inspiration...if I can't afford to fix my projects (a pair of Porsches) then I should sell them to those who can. Glad I didn't send my 99 Trans-Am to the Cash For Clunkers deal. Great vid :)!
In my town there was an old 1969 Camaro Z/28 convertible. Some guy left it at the shop after getting painted and never returned. The woner of the shop was paranoid the owner would return and never sold thee car. It sat for 10 years until he found out the frame cracked. He junked the car. I wish to this dday i could have gotten it.
I got a uncle who dated a girl out west back in the early 70's right after he bought a brand new 69 trans am (Yes the rare ones) and he left the car out there to come back here to kentucky to see my grandma and she left him while he was here and he never went back. he told my dad he could have it if he went back out there to get it. (That was in the late 70's). wish i could find that car. I got a 77 Bandit edition car right now.
ha i bought and redid my 65 galaxie all because it was gona be flattened. gives them damned hondas a run for their money now. cars from this era should never be willfully destroyed. its like killing america
i feel bad for carz back in the days, am 16 but i love seing carz way back, like form the 40 to the 90s, you just don't see them almost no more, i wish more ppl well saced them, and re-do them, 1s it was before
cool slide show,i will have to put up a video of all the junkyards i used to go to in the 80's even have a picture of a wrecked aar cuda just rotting away at rohners near spicer minnesota
I like the blue 1974 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. In fact, a guy is letting one of those in the same exact blue color scheme to rot right up my street. What a coincidence!
its crazy, but im happy i got there in time. i drove it onto the trailer no problem. i hope i can get a digital video camera soon so i can get a video of it on here. it is an awsome car to drive in!
very wonderfull cars over there, its a shame people do them away. they look alot better then todays cars.. this really made me sad. why in the world would you trow such a bautifull machine away!?
+Thefirkman the guy who owned it didn't want it because it was gas hog and needed floor pans, I pulled it out replaced the pans and rebuilt the engine its now my daily driver(its also in my profile pic)
dude, nice sample... however, what´s actually barn find or junkyard policy when you get the chance to find an abandoned thou fixable autos?.. does actually barns and graveyards have an owner already?.. how easy is to find such cast away beauties and save them?... any restrictions against it?... will love to find some answers!.. thanx a lot!
what has happend to all of these cars in Dec 2010? have enthusiasts bought them or are they still sitting in the field? im from Liverpool england and would love to get my hands on some of these classics and restore them before they are lost forever!!
It is like killing america cause think about the time and money put into the designing of these classics by our for fathers . And lets not forget the most important thing they are made in America by American Auto Workers. Be proud that these old classics are still out there still to get so find one that you like that don't need alot of work and restore it and save it from the crusher. And becoming a foreigh car from China
my dad had a full lot full of these cars that he saved, then the city made him clear it and he moved them into a barn, a few months later a tornado hit it. i cant remember what shape they are in right now, but one of them is a MINT 64-65 lincoln continental, ran and everything and he saved it from the crusher
i wish i could find one of these cars around where i live but its so hard, either they wont sell them or are just takeing them to the junkyard fuckin pisses me off. atleast give the car to some one that will put it to use.
@lovehamsters14 Some are trying to. Ford hasnt changed the Mustang look. Well they did like three times i think but yah it still looks the same as in the 60's a lil. More fat but still the same. Also Doge tryed bringin back the old CHARGER LOOK. its just chevy isnt in there new corvete looks different.
its sad knowing the fact once these cars were in showroom conditon if i could id take them all to bring them back to the way belong looking good and running strongg
lots of these can fetch good money today. and just think what a 69 camaro or a 65 mustang will get in 20 more years in top shape. i dont get why people leave these to rot. even sell them to somebody willing to restore them
That is quite a few goats in there, GTO'S that is. how could someone just leave a 65 mustang like that to rot thats heartless. At least the cars have a new life. there are many that are indifferant about them, Me I just traded in my 97 maroon cutless that had a 98 body style, it was a showroom car when we bought it, it had a few wrecks and replaced every panel in it, but the car was solid and seats were in good shape, it was my first car. just needed too much engine work. was my first car
I’m glad these classic beauties are getting restored! Awesome job, my friend. It always breaks my heart to see nice old cars rusting away.
Thank you for watching!!! I feel the same way too!!!

0:18 Wait, why was this one going to the crusher? it looks like it just came off the dealership lot.
+Thefirkman the guy who owned it didn't want it because it was gas hog and needed floor pans, I pulled it out replaced the pans and rebuilt the engine its now my daily driver(its also in my profile pic)
Magellan S Well, you're a great hero to that car.

Why do people abandon cars, i will take classics off of people if they lose interest but only what is restorable

Granted some of those cars are worth saving but a few are too far gone and some are just not that desireable.
It's sad how people give up these cars because of the bad gas mileage and they end up in the crusher or in the woods.
good job man
im suprised that most of the cars are in pretty good condition.
Good to know that a few noble souls still exist in the US of A.
