  • ‎@midlifecrisis1979 prepares and shows how to wire a Sony XAV-AX3200 double din touch screen radio with a backup camera and a remote USB connection. This is the wiring you do before you install the radio into your car.
    The radio, camera, and USB relocator are going into my 2008 Chevrolet C6 Corvette Convertible Base model.

    Did you have any sound quality issues with the RP5 wired to the non-amplified output? All C6s have a factory amplifier, whether they have Bose or not.

    i have the same radio for my 2008 silverado can i still fit the single din radio with some different bracket?

    • @midlifecrisis1979
      @midlifecrisis1979  2 месяца назад +1

      This radio has the body of a single din radio, but the screen of a double din radio. The bracket kit that has the radio trim plate can do single or double din bodies, but the radio trim piece that goes around the screen and you see when installed is for a double din. You would have to look for a single din trim plate for your car. If you find that, then it would work in your Corvette. I do not have the part# for a single din radio. I'm sure you can do a quick Google search and find it. The wiring kit would be the same, as it is what goes for that car regardless of single or double din radio.

    Do I need a pac module if I don’t have have steering wheel functions ?

    • @midlifecrisis1979
      @midlifecrisis1979  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes. The PAC module is for factory amplifier integration. No PAC module, no volume. It will come with a part for steering wheel controls and if you don't need it, you just don't use that part.

    I can't play Netflix/RUclips on unit. and can't figure out where to plug green wire. The stereo thinks I'm always driving even though I'm parked. I tried to plug green wire to 12v, to no avail. Does it go to parking brake wire?

    • @midlifecrisis1979

      Ground the green wire and it will always think you are in Park. Then it will work. Will not impact reverse camera, as when the backup wire gets power, it will flip to camera automatically.

      I have nonidea what fat32 format is, but it does play 128G thumb drive 2.0 USB. It plays multiple formats, but fat32 is not listed.

    do you 100% need the pac module or is it optional?

    What did you end up splicing those 2 steering wheel control wires into? I plugged the 3.5 mm jack into the back and the steering wheel controls wouldnt work.

    • @midlifecrisis1979

      The steering wheel controls need an extra controller for it to work. Very frustrating, I know. I didn't have to deal with that since I'm poor and bought a very low option corvette. No steering wheel controls on mine. So I bought the radio that came with a remote control in order to adjust the radio even if the road is bumpy.
      Edit: the XM radio requires an additional control box. The kit I used has what looks like an AUX wire connected to 3 other wires. Those are the remote wires for the steering wheel. Just connect the AUX wire into the radio and the 2 other wires to the wires coming from the steering wheel. Those wires will convert the signal and you should be all set. I had gotten it twisted originally with the XM Radio additional box. The instructions in the install kit I have in my link will tell you how to re-calibrate the steering wheel control if it acts irratic or not working properly. They call it the SWC, steering wheel control. Sorry for the old man brain on first comment.

      You wouldn’t happen to know what extra controller I would need for the steering controls off the top of your head? I’m calling PAC and crutch field tomorrow to see what they say as well.

      @Yeezy_Pz My old man brain was working in full effect. You don't need another controller for the steering wheel controls. You need another controller for the XM Radio function to work. The harness in my link has the steering wheel controller wires included. It is an AUX with 2 other wires next to it and they say steering wheel control, SWC. Also, the instructions for the radio has parts for the steering wheel controls. Hope that helps.

      @@midlifecrisis1979 They do not need an extra controller. The PAC RP5-GM11 that both you and I used is the extra controller. The Sony lacks a specific wire to connect the blue wire from the PAC RP5-GM11 to, which would light up your SWP, as it did for my Kenwood, which has a specific wire labled SWC. The Sony is supposed to come with a RC-SR1 cable, which mine did not. Even with that extra adaptor, it wont connect to the PAC RP5-GM11 as seamlessly as having a specific wire labled SWC.

      You have to connect your cellphone to the radio and the radio will play whatever is on your cell phone.

    The only reason I watched this video was to see where to connect the SWC wires. You show the wires and say you will get back to it, but you dont. My Kenwood had a wire marked for Steering Wheel Control that my PAC RP5-GM11 blue/white wire connected to and my SWC worked fine until the Kenwood failed as a unit. This Sony, although a nice stereo, is lacking in the SWC connectibility. In fact my stereo didnt even come with the RC-SR1 cable shown in the manual. Even if it did, I'm not seeing how the SR1 plus its AUX into the HU and hard wire the blue and brown lines and then leave the AUX from the PAC RP5-GM11 hanging unused. I have my doubts that would work. Since the signal has to go through the PAC RP5-GM11. As much as I hate to do it, I gotta now pay a stereo shop to rig this up when it should have been as easy as a single wire but-connected like the Kenwood was. Thanks for making me waste 21:12 of my time watching for the one thing I needed info on. Everything else was fluff.

      Sorry the video didn't provide the info you needed. I didn't have steering wheel controls on that car, so it was not applicable for that particular install. If you make a video depicting that aspect of the install, I am happy to add the link in the description of my video so as to help others with this issue. I am here to help as much as I can. I just don't own that car anymore, so I am unable to take the radio out to make an edit to the video. Thank you.
