  • The Mk7 (EA288) Platform has a couple of well known issue with their electric water pump, from leaking seals to sticking sleeves, causing the cars to lose coolant and overheat! 🥵
After the customer told us their 194,000 mile Seat Leon was using a Litre of coolant every 4 mile, we expected this to be the issue...but it turned out to be something different 👀

The non-shrouded pumps are far cheaper, and one less failure point. Warmup times appear to be near identical as well.

My car was just done and water pump etc is a known faulty item also had the heater matrix changed for a new one as full off gel also new expansion tank as they have no gel pack in them now and tensioner cam belt after 114,000 miles.

Anyone had one die from this? Genuine one fitted 3 years ago and its over heated on the motorway and killed the engine

Heard stories about it. They do have a known issue of sticking open and causing the car to over heat

Do you always get those bloody awkward places top DPF sensors out that stop the top cover coming out without breaking it? Never had success removing the sensor without potential damage to the sensor of the thread un the exhaust.

Yet another great video! Nice to see the care you guys take with cambelts. Shoddy workmanship and a 8.8 bolt fitted where the tensioner stud should be on my car has been the death of my bkd engine. Keep up the great work!

No servicing needed on the oil pump belt that is in the oil pan ?

They are rated as a lifetime part, it's very rare that one has failed. We've not come across any as of yet

@@DarksideDevelopments Lifetime is around 270k km. (or sooner with LL intervals). Been there. 20-50 quid on timing belt change shouldn't be saved.

So you torque the cambelt components and sump plug.
But gun up the mount bolts even when using new bolts.
And also gunned up the serpentine crank pully 😂.
Both require a torque and angle setting.
Also should be doing a diagnostic bleed procedure before a road test even after its been vacume filed.😅

Dreading diagnosing this, DFHA engine with a slow amount of coolant loss over a few months.
Is it known if the newer revisions of the water pump and egr cooler have been fixed?
Funny thing is, it's recorded as a well known issue in Erwin but surprise, no recall.
