TLDR: The dead spartans likely just represent all of the nameless (never individually named in lore) S3's that fell on Reach, all of the armor is random (some of the armors are just named after specific spartans).
Adrianna - SPARTAN-111: MIA with the rest of Gray Team.
Joshua - SPARTAN-029: Listed as MIA, assumed KIA during the Fall of Reach due to a direct hit from a Covenant cruiser's plasma weaponry.
Sam - SPARTAN-034: Listed as MIA, confirmed KIA due to destruction of the Covenant ship they had boarded. First to destroy a Covenant ship in a non-ship to ship battle.
Jai - SPARTAN-006: MIA with the rest of Gray Team.
    Skull - ???
Isaac - SPARTAN-039: Listed as MIA, assumed KIA after the Fall of Reach.
Kelly - SPARTAN-087: Active as of July 2557.
Malcolm - SPARTAN-059: Listed as MIA, confirmed KIA during the Fall of Reach.
Li - SPARTAN-008: Listed as MIA during Slipspace anomaly battle. Assumed KIA due to nearby plasma torpedo detonation.
Kurt - SPARTAN-051: Listed as MIA, confirmed KIA after the detonation of two FENRIS nuclear warheads at the core of Onyx.
Nicole - SPARTAN-458: Listed as MIA, lost in space as of 2552 (she exists in the Halo universe, but has no canon lore).
Vinh - SPARTAN-030: Listed as MIA, assumed KIA after the Fall of Reach.
Rosenda - SPARTAN-344: Unknown status, was meant to be part of Noble Team, but was scrapped in development (she is only mentioned in Noble Team performance reports).
Linda - SPARTAN-058: Active as of July 2557. Clinically KIA during the Fall of Reach but later resuscitated after the Battle of Installation 04.
Many of these Spartans are meant to die along side other spartans/teams (which are not included here), some are meant to die elsewhere or at an earlier/later time, and some are meant to still be alive (lore-wise). All of the dead spartans in that mission are simply just a bunch of random Spartan III's (which is why the armor is random, because all of them are nameless/random spartan III's).
Here's the list of known spartan III casualties (most of which are on Reach):
    Team Wolf Pack
    - Jane-A??? - KIA
    - Shane-A??? - KIA
    - Robert-A???- KIA
    Beta Company
    Team Echo - KIA
    Team Foxtrot
    - Adam-B004 - KIA
    - Min-B174 - KIA
    Team India - KIA
    Team Lima - KIA
    Team Romeo - KIA
    Team X-ray - MIA
    Team Zulu - KIA
    Gamma Company
Team Gladius - KIA - Found deceased after several days of fleeing from Sentinels.
    Headhunters
    Team 1
    - Jonah - KIA
    - Roland - KIA
    Team 2
    - Unnamed SPARTAN-III - KIA
    - Unnamed SPARTAN-III - KIA
Team Katana - Last known to under-go resuscitative surgery after being clinically KIA in Slipspace Field Pods
    Team Saber
    - Holly-G003 - KIA
    - Dante-G188 - KIA
    - Ash-G099 - KIA, September 2553
    - Olivia-G291 - KIA, September 2553
    - Mark-G313 - KIA, September 2553
Update: Ash, Olivia, and Mark were listed as KIA, because they're now ghosts working for ONI under Veta Lopis. They're now known as Ferret Team, and very well alive.

SPARTAN Malcolm is a reference within a reference. He has an ODST helmet, which is a reference to Buck from ODST, who is voiced by Nathan Fillion, whose claim to fame for many (and even in GameInformer's magazine back in 2009 when Halo 3: ODST was up) is that of Captain Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly. Halo 3: ODST was pretty well-received due to the voice actors used, which, three were part of the original Firefly cast. Adam Baldwin, who voices Dutch, played Jane from Firefly. Alan Tudyk voiced Micky, who was Wash in Firfly, and finally, Nathan Fillion, who voiced Buck, who was, Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly.
So SPARTAN Malcolm being an ODST is pretty clever. I like it.

Season 2 will most likely not be for reach, it’s probably going to be for Combat evolved, think about it. Every single unlockable in reach is in season 1 already so it wouldn’t really make sense for them to keep adding more cosmetics to reach when combat evolved is coming soon. The whole seasons thing is straight out of the fortnite playbook and it’s kinda weird considering there will be a total of 6 games in the MCC on pc. There has to be a point to playing the coming games, otherwise there would be no sense of reward for a lot of people.

Just thought of another something Im little curious about. The last challenge I remember every one trying before Halo 2 came on CE was this idea that you could break out of the ceiling of a map and land on an invisible wall on the edge of the map, so you’d be able to stand in the abyss. For the longest time I remember breaking through the ceiling alone was deemed impossible but then Ms Man did it on 343 Guilty Spark by launching himself with a covenant turret, and the turret managed to strike him and clip him through the ceiling while he was still alive.. which was incredible at the time, never understood how Ms Man accomplished so much. But the idea of somehow landing on the invisible walls on the edge of a map still seemed completely impossible. Not sure if there’s anyway to determine it. Maybe you already have a quick answer for it though..

They're Spartans from Echo, Red, and Gauntlet teams. They were "Cat II" teams like Noble that were stationed on Reach to help with the defense. Unsure about the others at the moment, but through some research, I've found that Adrianna and Jai are a pair of Spartan IIs, Adrianna-111 and Jai-006. The two often escaped from their training facility on Reach just for the thrill rather than trying to go AWOL. They were both part of Gray Team along with Mike-120.
EDIT: The rest of them have much, much longer stories, but you can find them in the wiki if need be. Some of these are supposedly the actual Spartans that their names imply them to be, others are merely references. But each of them are Spartan-IIs apart from Rosenda.
To summarize, Joshua-029, Isaac-039, Vinh-030, Li-008, Malcolm-059, Linda-058 and Kelly-087 were all members of Red Team on Reach... along with Frederic-104. Kelly, Linda and Frederic, as some might know, are both members of Blue Team. Kelly, Linda and Fred survived, of course, but Joshua, Isaac, and Vinh all went MIA--Joshua when he was shot down, and Isaac and Vinh when their satchel charges went off prematurely while the remainder of Red Team attempted to escape. Li disappeared in a flash of light along with one other Spartan and a marine while escaping from Reach while the team the remainder of Red Team was on was caught in a slipspace bubble. When Red Team's Pelican, Bravo 001 was shot down, the team had to jump. Malcolm hit the ground too hard and died on impact. The remainder of Red Team escaped.
Sam, or Samuel-034 was one of the first Spartans to die during the war, killed during the Battle of Onyx aboard a Covenant frigate. Him and Blue Team were deployed to the frigate while the UNSC Commonwealth was engaged with it. Their mission was to destroy the frigate from the inside, but a hole was shot into his armor, preventing him from escaping with his team. So instead, he held off the Covenant to ensure the missiles they used would go off.
Kurt died during the Battle of Oryx, leading a team of what remained of Spartan-III Team, Beta Company to hold off the Covenant and allow Blue Team to escape.
Nicole-458 doesn't have much of a story, but she's the Spartan-II that appears in Dead or Alive 4. Officially, she would be considered MIA, but technically, she's trapped in the 21st century according to her story in Dead or Alive 4. However, apparently this is considered canon.
Rosenda-A344 was a Spartan III that never got finished. She was a concept that was never put into where she was intended to go. Originally, she was intended to be a member of Noble Team in Halo Reach. The only other info on her is in Noble Team's performance reports, documented by Colonel Urban Holland saying that Rosenda would replace Emile as Noble Four if another Insurrectionst Operation came up.
The only Spartan on this list I can't find any info on is Skull. It's possible Skull was a nickname, but at the moment, I can't find them.

Some of those names are in halo fall of reach and first strike as well as The Cole Protocal. Kurt-051 was the tallest spartan he was 8'2 and was asked by Colonel Ackerson to spear head the spartan 3 program but he unfortunately died on Onyx. He was the highest ranked spartan before he died he had the rank of Lieutenant commander. Joshua-029 died trying to save the generator complex for the orbital MAC guns on Reach when he tried to blow up a Covenant cruiser with a bomb inside a banshee. He had a good working relationship with spartans like the MasterCheif and the rest of blue team. Adriana-111 was part of gray team along side Jai-006 and Mike-120 in the Cole Protocal book and halo envoy I think. Vinh-030 and Isaac-039 were both in halo reach as well. They were freinds good friends since they grew up together in the spartan 2 program. They went missing during Operation:WHITE GLOVE they probably died in an explosion trying to get into a Coventant crusier via gravlift under the command of William-043. Will or William-043 was one of the only spartans to survive the fall of Reach since they were all protecting the generator complex on Reach that powered the orbital MAC gun. But he was later Killed on Onyx. Nicole-458 is rather mysterious because she was actually introduced in Dead or Alive 4 as the only spartan fighter available she is presumably canon but it is unknown how she died. Rosenda-A344 was a spartan 3 and was originally going to be part of noble team but was replaced with Emile-A239. It is unknown how she died. Malcom-59 was on a pelican with the rest of the Spartans on the way to the generator complex on Reach. Their pelican was shot down by seraph fighters a few thousand feet above ground forcing them to jump to the target zone. Malcolm suit wasn't properly pressurized and he died instantly upon impact with the ground. Li-008 was killed in a slips pace battle with the Coventant shortly after reach he was known for his expertise in zero gravity combat and hand to hand combat. I may not have covered them all in detail but I tried not to spoil the books too much. If you want to know more than I recommended reading The Fall Of Reach, First strike and Cole Protocal or go to Halopedia.

    - Sam is Samuel-034, a Spartan-II. He appeared in the novel Halo: The Fall of Reach (and its animated adaptation by 343), and was a major character that greatly influenced the Chief and fellow S-IIs.
    - Kurt is Kurt Ambrose. He’s a S-II that appeared in Halo: Ghosts of Onyx. ONI faked his death so that they could task him with training Spartan-IIIs.
Another interesting tidbit is Spartan Isaac’s helmet at 2:43, which is the OPERATOR helmet in-game. The helmet shown in the video is blank and has no attachments to it, but the default OPERATOR helmet actually has an integrated camera attachment (I forgot the name).

Malcolm is probably a nod to Nathan Fillion (Buck). Who is best knows for being Captain Malcolm Raynolds on Firefly. Fillion also voiced other marines and ODSTs in halo 3 one of which being Sargent Raynolds in the first mission. Which oddly enough is the rank Mal Raynolds held in the Independent Planets Army before they lost the battle of Serenity Valley.

If you chuckled at the first few names. This isn't your first time getting your hands all nerdy.

Spartan Malcom is an Easter egg. It's a reference to Malcom Reynolds from the show Firefly. This character is played by nathon fillion who voices and models the character Buck from ODST and Halo 5

I would not be surprised if Spartan Malcolm was a nod to Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly. Malcolm Reynolds was played by Nathan Fillion who voices Buck from in ODST hence the ODST helmet on Spartan Malcolm

Most of these spartans died on reach defending the generators for the orbital mac guns. Some where declared mia by oni and are actually recruiters and trainers for next gen spartans

In lore UNSC personals had last stands at lone wolf since most of the UNSC Evacs or even UNSC itself has left reach at this point. So to hold out and make a last stand the last of the UNSC (Or most) on reach the went to lone wolf and along those troopers were noble six. Noble six fought for weeks and troopers fell one by one and until noble six, died.

The names are all familiar or correct but the armour permutations honestly seem pretty random, and obviously blue team survived so I'm not sure why they were part of the dead spartans in this. Linda died but was revived by Halsey after H1. All the other ones were other Spartans that died during the fall of reach mentioned in the books and stuff. Sam died on first contact with the covenant on Chiefs OG team.
