This is a SUPREMELY ENJOYABLE video, girls! I dearly love videos of the two of you making music together. Marie's Wedding is an upbeat, filled-with-joy, smile-maker, and it's a treat to hear the two of you play it together on your own instruments. When you switched, Corie made Katie's fiddle squeal a bit, but then Corie picked the melody on Katie's fiddle and it was beautiful! THANKS SO MUCH! 👍👍
AND....I did! At age 63 I bought a banjo! Talk about hard, but I am absolutely happy that I did it! You are never too old and it is never too late! Enjoy your journey girls 🥰
My Dad bought a PIANO 😱. He passed away before he ever learned to play. Nobody wants a used piano. I couldn’t GIVE it away due to cost of moving and retuning.
Mad respect for both of you. I am fairly musically inclined and have tried to teach myself how to play guitar several times. I spent 10 years in the Navy and took a guitar on the ship with me when we were deployed. Even over a 6 month deployment with nothing else to do, I still could not pick it up. I have come to the determination that I just cannot play a fretted instrument. The fact that you two can just switch and still play a very recognizable tune, is extremely impressive.
@@folksurvivalI can play most brass instruments, percussion, I sing, I can read music, I understand music theory, I can pluck chords out on a piano. Just nothing with a neck and frets.
I really enjoy the subtle..sudden smiles you have for each other…when you both simultaneously realize something in the harmonization is going slightly sideways.
You two make me smile. A relationship between sisters is so sweet. My older sis and I did not get along well as children, but as adults we are buddies. I wouldn't trade her for anything.
Wow! Y'all both did incredible! Corie, it wouldn't take you long to pick it back up. You were amazing with the notes! Katie, great job on the guitar! Thanks for letting us in on the jam session. That was fun! Much love to you both from SC, Jane ❤️ 🙏
Corie did well considering she stopped playing violin in 8th grade. Katie did great on guitar, but Corie had the more intricate part and I think violin is much harder to play. Both of you did good!
Y'all inspired me to go find my violin (which I haven't really played since I was in junior high and I am now in my 50s) (we didn't call it a fiddle, but I think I would've done better maybe if we had ). My orchestra teacher, who'd be over 100 if he were still with us, had stamped my name on my violin case with one of those vintage Dymo label makers. I traced over the decades-old label. I rosin'd up the bow, tried to get it in tune (my violin is one mom bought on time from the local instrument store and it has a little whistle tuner on the bottom that is A). I picked it up and tried to approximate "Marie's Wedding" (fail, and the dogs took off). I went back to something ( I can't tell you the name, it's just something I knew) my fingers remembered and I PLAYED MY VIOLIN. I sounded terrible, but it was wonderful. THANK YOU. Y'all inspired me and I am so grateful. Love y'all. 🎻 💞
It was amazing how much better Corie sounded plucking the fiddle than bowing it. This was a fun video, but I prefer to see and hear each of you sticking to your own instrument.
Love hearing you ladies play and sing. It blesses my soul and reminds me of our oldest son in law. He sang and could play anything with strings. God bless y’all. 😀❤️
I'm going backwards with yalls video's. My granny was influential In my life too. Planting gardens and fishing is what my Granny taught me. Water color painting is a challenge because the paint bleeds easily. This will be a fun video. May God continually bless you girls and everyone in your circle.
You both crack me up!😂 This is why I love watching y’all! Both of you are equally talented beyond words. Corie, yes, you’re a little rusty playing the fiddle, but like Katie said, it’s been about 10 years so you did fine. Katie, you tend to play both instruments anyway, but yes you are more skilled with the fiddle because your heart is in it, just like Corie’s heart is in playing the guitar. What made me laugh so hard was the expressions on y’all’s faces while playing each other’s instruments. Priceless! This was fun and I love how open and honest y’all are. Thank y’all for sharing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I just love you girls! Your videos really help me get thru some sleepless, painful nights! I mostly save y'alls and your mom's for night time watching! God bless y'all, God keep y'all, God hold y'all in His loving hands! Hugs & blessings from VA! 🎶🎻🎸✝️
Coworker and I are deep diving a PBS documentary on country music. Violin and banjo... then came the guitar. Its amazing how all cultures came together/got along for that "old time" music!! Haha funny that when this style hit a radio they called it "old" when itvwas new to so many. but so many songs/melodys came from family pass downs of over 300 years older than america across oceans... good stuff!
I think could I could watch these girls all day. You can definitely see the twin connection between the two. Matt and Tipper it is clear the respect and compassion you both have put into these precious young ladies!!!😮
I love seeing you two together!!❤ I love the song. You both have such amazing talent and are a true joy and blessing❤. I love the looks on your faces with what you perceive as a boo boo. When Ruby and I played the organ, Mom always said she knew when we hit a wrong note....not always discernable hearing, but we would glitch or make a face. You bring back such wonderful memories for me❤. Thank you for the fun and good music. God bless you and yours❤🙏🙏❤
Been 4 days so you may not see this but here goes. When I was 19 the last thing my Grand dad asked me was to learn to play an instrument and died in less than 6 hours later. So I picked up a guitar and a book. After 3 years I was ok and I started on the Banjo and became pretty good with it. Over the years, I played with several professionals. Then the Fiddle, Mandolin, Bass, an dobro etc. Yes, learning one instrument translates a lot to another one. The music theory is the same. Each instrument makes it easier for another. You just have to remember which one you are playing at the time. LOL At 58, I had my first Stroke, then open heart and a second stroke, then a heart attack. I play very little now at 70. I miss it dearly. I enjoy watching you girls and listening to you play. I was raised on a farm in Western Kentucky but great great granddadad came from North Carolina. We have a lot in common.
Katie...glad your mom said one of you is going to play this fiddle we paid for! Lovely..guitar is best for Corey. I like hearing you on your guitar, too, Katie.
I wanna be adopted .. even though I'm older than your parents .lol . I have the lamp in this video. I glued fall foliage and flowers on my two and it has a cream colored square lampshade. You girls are amazing. Such a legacy your parents made. Bet you both will be great parents too.
WOW!!! What a great demonstration…!!! I recently returned to playing the piano every day after 30 years of not playing at all. I would consider myself an intermediate pianist in my peak years in the 70’s after 10 years of taking piano lessons from age 6 to 16. Now, at age 68, I have been so amazed and thankful that everything has come right back to me like I never stopped playing. I absolutely don’t know how I lived without a piano in my home for almost 30 years…!!! In March, my husband surprised me with an electric grand piano for my birthday…WOW was I surprised and now even more thankful for this wonderful gift….I finally realized what had been missing in my life for so long…!!!
Yall might enjoy David Lindley. He recently passed away unfortunately. But Mr David is known as a multi instrumentist of stringed instruments to the point it's really unknown how many stringed instruments he was capable of playing. But he also recording for 50 plus years with Jackson Browne, Crosby, Stills, Dolly Parton, etc, etc. He was truly a nice guy too. He was a musician's musician. Thank you
Most courageous women I've ever seen. Loved the willingness to do this live without rehearsing. So very talented. Well done ladies. I had a "hillbilly" uncle from the mountains of Virginia, who couldn't read or write, but hand him an instrument and in seconds he was playing it like a pro. I had never met another who could learn so intuitively. I was struggling to learn guitar and banjo, he would just pick them up and play them. It was so impressive to watch and so frustrating at the same time.
Corie, you did very well after being away from it for many years and it was fun to watch and listen to both of you switching instruments I am not musically inclined but love the sound of a banjo And i can just see you in my mind sitting on your porch on a hot summer night with your friends playing the songs of Appalachia that you love ❤😊
It was so much fun watching y’all switch instruments. This was awesome! You both did so great!!! Corie, I’m amazed at your muscle memory; you played real well. And Katie, you kept a good beat, and with a pick. I don’t play with one-I end up dropping it in the guitar, haha! God bless you two!
Me and a friend who plays the dobro swapped instruments one night… being the banjo and dobro were tuned to the same key… he did kind of sort of ok on the banjo. And I had forgot most of what little I knew on the dobro… but we had a good time about like y’all did here!😆
How I loved your video!! Y’all are so talented and so much fun to watch!! You had me laughing !! Thanks to you both for bringing joy and laughter to my day! Loved the picking on the fiddle!!! God bless and love to all! 💕🤗🙏🏻
@@thepressleygirls I thought you both did a fantastic job switching instruments! Like Katie said it's hard to make any kind of a decent sound on the fiddle when you're a beginner and your intonation was really good and you were making the strings vibrate well with the bow! Katie did a great job on guitar, I wouldn't know where to start if someone handed me a guitar. Love your authentic down to earth natures - such a refreshing fun video. Thanks again and have a Happy Sunday :-)

Of course you can! Congratulation for this great performance!
Awesome job girls. I play several instruments and have been playing for decades. To play an instrument you need to do two things: 1. Know in your head what you’re going to do, and 2. Physically execute it.
When I come back to an instrument after being away from it for a little bit, I notice it takes me a minute to refresh on those two points. On the steel string acoustic guitar in particular you need to build up the callesus on you left hand fingertips.
I play button accordion, lever harp, pedal steel, dobro, mandolin, etc. I agree with the point that you can transfer skills from one instrument to another even if they are completely different. I draw on piano skills while using both hands on the harp and draw on pedal steel skills to pluck a certain combination of strings on the harp and using various fingers to play a scale or melody.
God bless y’all and greetings from Texas

You gals are the best 😂 You both did great on the switch ❤🎻❤🎸❤ Thanks for the happy time 😊👍✌️
Thanks for watching, my fiddle playing was pretty bad 🤣
@@thepressleygirls I thought you both did a fantastic job switching instruments! Like Katie said it's hard to make any kind of a decent sound on the fiddle when you're a beginner and your intonation was really good and you were making the strings vibrate well with the bow! Katie did a great job on guitar, I wouldn't know where to start if someone handed me a guitar. Love your authentic down to earth natures - such a refreshing fun video. Thanks again and have a Happy Sunday :-)
LOVE YOU GIRLS!!!
Well done. You both are very talented.
