I think my ideal apartment would be a 2LDK in Asakusa north of Senso-ji or across the Sumida River. No more than a 15 min walk to station. Other areas I'd consider would be Nakameguro, Yoyogi or Kichijoji if I had more money to spend.
Considering early retirement and living in Japan - Kyoto and/or Tokyo. I've dipped my toes into the waters and looked online at several of the real estate websites. I'm thinking a 2LDK minimum and my pros and cons list is a mile long. It starts with the challenge of a place that has a lot of natural daylight, up to earthquake code, and a few other requirements like a separate bath (not a unit) and toilet, decent kitchen, good soundproofing, straightforward layout (no weird corners or angles). Your new place is an example of a good layout, though I don't envy you having had to deal with the black mold from the dryer in the bath situation. Have a great week, Sherry 👋😊
Hi Sherry! Just wanted to remind you how incredible you are! 🌈 You have this amazing ability to bring warmth and positivity wherever you go, and that's a rare gift. No matter what today brings, know that you are resilient, capable, and so valued. Keep moving forward with that beautiful spirit of yours. You inspire more people than you realize. 🌟💛
Just casually able to go to the Tokyo Lens studio and work while you wait for your apartment to be ready, that's quite the flex. It was cool to get to see the process leading up to you finally getting the place.
I can’t wait to see how you style your new home! ❤ So happy you found a place that’s right for you. Sending positive vibes your way, from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺
I joined recently and been watching your past videos. I have to say; the cuts, edits, music and pace of this video is so much better. I have watched it 3 or 4 times. 😅
Just roll it into the rent average over the course of the renewal period. American rent is still wildly more expensive in the major cities even accounting for wage differences.
Even when they have 2-4 months rent extra, at absolutely no cost they make it impossible for people to rent in case they leave unannounced. It's usually the other way in my country, you get people in the flat but no money and can't make them leave.
Careful with shaking elevators!!! It means the rollers there are worn out as heck Just had an accident in one like that And it was only a12y old elevator 3 months later and still have pains and issues 😅
The apartment looks cool and you have the most beautiful and cute smile 😁 every time you smile i start to smile so i subscribed and i'm looking forward for youre coming videos 🙏 All i can say in japanese is O Cha to mizu desu or Go han to mizu i'm working on it lol 🤣🤣🤣 its a very hard language to learn for sure but one day i want to go to Japan
wow I pay only 50,000 yen in my apartment in Osaka around 75 sq m2 3LDK, 10 mins from the station. Tokyo is pretty expensive. Although I was paying around 56,000 for my old apartment in Tokyo 3LDK 96 sq m2 in Takadanobaba 8min from the station.
Hi, Sherry. I want to ask about Shikoku for a minute. I am looking to move my wife (a Japanese person, although I speak better Japanese then she does.) and myself (A white guy) to Kochi to live out our retirement years and I have a few questions about the area. We are both from the Los Angeles area in California, USA, born and raised. She loves the ocean and I love the mountains so I thought this would be a good fit. We want to have a good sized vegetable garden and I want to know if Kochi has good enough soil for that. I was also concerned about the typhoons that hit every year and their severity. Thanks a lot for your help.
great vlob bro. I have also just recently moved to tokyo and started a tokyo vlog series. would you like to collab at some point? would be cool to make youtuber friends
Sherry W Norm😮💯. Any explanation on why Reikin exist in japan? That's news to me It's like a Christmas gift giving free months worth of rent which is expensive 😮
The more competitive the area is (like Tokyo), the more expensive reikin gets. Extra money for the owner right? I've never seen reikin being listed in any apartments ads in my home town though lol
This concept probably pervades East Asian property purchase/rental more than we think. Where I live, in the context of property purchasing, it's called Cash Over Valuation.
Would you like to try apartment hunting in Tokyo? What is your ideal apartment?🤔
ideal apartment is a free one
Apartment hunting with Norm? Yes, let's!

Thank you two for another new apartment video together!! Keep up the fun team up together videos you guys!! 🙌🙌🙌

Hahaha true lol Huge thanks to Norm~
That first apartment around 4:30 is really reminding me of one that was in @TokidokiTraveler 's apartment-hunting video!
😂
I can’t wait to see how you style your new home! ❤ So happy you found a place that’s right for you. Sending positive vibes your way, from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺
Furnishing the room also took as long as it took me to find the apartment lol but it’s worth it! I can’t wait to show you how it turned out🙌
Thanks @TokyoLens for introducing @SherryBerry to us ❤
Look forward to seeing how you decorate :)
Apartment seems nice!
Welcome to Tokyo Sherry. Enjoy and have a great life in a Big City :D
I know it can be frustrating... But I long for the day I am able to do this in Tokyo. Congrats on the Apt!
Thanks!
I've never been this early... Watched the first one from Norm's POVand now I get to watch this from yours... Nice...
I’m glad that you enjoyed it!
Oh so stressful! Moving is one of the most stressful times, but exciting! Enjoy your new digs!
Thanks!!

Welcome to the channel!
Reikin sounds like a moving fee and Shikikin sounds like a deposit. American moving fees aren't typically more than one month's rent; that's bonkers.
Just roll it into the rent average over the course of the renewal period. American rent is still wildly more expensive in the major cities even accounting for wage differences.
That sounds so stressful glad you found a place can’t wait to see it once it’s all done!
Thank you for taking us along with you!

Much love and hugs Paul. 🙏😇🇬🇧
Congratulations Sherry!
Thank you!
Sherry is definitely a trooper 💪

How does she keep smiling all day long, damn that's impressive 😂

Yeah Tokyo is very pricy lol And in all fairness my place is like a 3min walk from a major station😂 100,000 yen is still cheap!
@@sherryberryjp Nice job on the great deal. Can't beat 3 minutes. Congratulations!
I live in Baba and pay 72,000 for a 20m2 1K. How did you get a 3LDK here for 56,000???
Hey Sherry, Love from the States 🇺🇸! 🤍
Key money is the craziest thing. Don't think I could handle paying it...
Good luck. If I had the money, I would like to live there also.
will you be posting more vlogging style content in tokyo ?
That’s the plan~
I cant even rent a bedroom where i live for the price of a small apartment there lol.
$600 for an apartment is dirt cheap right lol
@@sherryberryjp that's what I pay in utilities
おめでとう!いいなアパートを見つけて良かったな!

Hi Sherry, how are you? I just interesting what's your background. I'm living in Ontario, Canada.

Welcome to my channel!
@@sherryberryjp I feel welcome!
50!?
Yup you heard it right😁
Looks complex if you're a foreigner with limited Japanese skills seeking to rent a apartment.
You can always find a real estate agent with English speakers~ It needs a little more work but not impossible.
🇯🇵🤖🤝🇯🇵
家賃高い!
😂
Awesome vlog sherry drop a like I follow you on RUclips.
Thank you!!
No problem
How can you put your home address if you don't have an apartment? Does your previous residence count?
Don't do it, Tokyo's the worst place to live in Japan.
