"Former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman on Monday released a second recording from her time at the White House, purportedly of President Donald Trump appearing unaware that chief of staff John Kelly had fired her.
“Nobody even told me about it,” Trump says in the recording of a phone call that Newman says is from the day after she was fired from her White House communications post in December. “I didn’t know it. I didn’t know that. Goddammit. I don’t love you leaving at all.”
The short audio aired ahead of a “Today” show interview with Newman on Monday, part of a publicity tour for Tuesday’s release of her book about her time at the White House, Unhinged.
Newman, in a combative interview on “Today,” dodged questions about whether Trump was lying on the phone call, saying that she was “not certain.” She added that Trump, in general, is “absolutely” a serial liar, but said she “never expected him to lie to the country.”
She said she was locked in a room before Kelly told her she was fired, and characterized the meeting as “false imprisonment.”
“It’s not acceptable for four men to take a woman into a room, lock the door and tell her ‘wait,’ and tell her that she cannot leave,” she said. “It also is unacceptable to not allow her to have her lawyer or her counsel, and the moment I said ‘I would like to leave’ and they said I can’t go, it became false imprisonment.”

To be fair she wasn't recording national secrets she was recording a private meeting about her being fired, why the hell did they take her into that room to fire her? They usually take your phone off you before you go in that room, they didn't on this occasion because the meeting wasn't about national security. She shouldn't have even been in that room, she was a communications person, her job was talking to the press/social media! Not that I am in her camp but all these articles saying she broke the law by recording the conversation because of the room she happened to be in are getting blown out of proportion, it wasn't a situation room meeting it was a HR meeting that happened to be in that room.

Manuel Ornelas hmm, let me think... because they were firing her, I'm guessing they didn't outline any top secret plans during that meeting. I will give you the benefit of the doubt an assume you meant prior to being fired... despite the fact this particular news article is specifically about that meeting where she got fired. First of all she was in a communications role so she would only have been told things that were safe to go public and secondly (given how inept this particular shit show is) had she for some reason been invited to the situation room (the kind of place where such things might be discussed) for an actual situation room meeting to discuss delicate, diplomatic or national security itinerary it is standard procedure to hand in your phone at the door and be checked by a security guard (to make sure you have no other recording devices). This isn't even that unusual, I work in IT and certainly I have had to attend sites/meetings where I have to hand in all my electronics and I get a wand to check there's nothing hidden, sometimes you're not even allowed to take notes, I would imagine the government take just as many precautions about national security as companies do about IP etc. In this instance they were just using the situation room like it was a general meeting room, hence why she had her phone/recording device and was able to use it.

I think it’s more that people realise that secretly recording in the Situation Room - a room where you are required to leave your mobile phone outside and that she also taped the president (regardless of what a cockwomble he is- he’s still the president) - is what is giving people pause. People felt the same way about Cohen’s secret tapings. It just goes to the character of the type of people who are attracted to Trump and he surrounds himself with. He just seems to bring out the absolute worst in people. She got grilled pretty well but what is interesting to me is that, she spoke with clarity and intelligence. She admitted and owned up to her complicitness while working in the White House. When they are told to leave phones and all recording devices at their desks and then asked again by the secret service if they have anything like that before they walk into the room, normal people tell the truth and don't take their phones in. This makes the White House look terrible. If this in fact wasn't in the Situation Room, they would have came out right away and refuted that accusation. But they haven't, meaning it is in fact the Situation Room. Stop trying to make everything a conspiracy theory.
