"A" runner is not unfinished. Bandai intentionally cut out this part as Sakura Shinguji Type has one sword only. This part can be found in Ichiro Ogami Type as it has double swords.
Yep. Online images of runners and manuals of the kit show that indeed, the missing part on the runner isn't a bug, it's a feature.
Yep it's a travesty
But why?
@@adityarachmadi7647 because the character only has one sword canonically, but also, so you have to buy the other character's model, which comes with 2, if you want two swords (and not pink), and also this one if you want the (better looking) girl figure. The two models are exactly the same except for these 3 differences, so another way of putting it is that Bandai is trying to make choosing a more interesting decision 😉
To those who will keep on asking "why" - It's all about marketing and who they can sucker into buying lol
Did anyone else think they where going crazy when he started talking about the hands?
HE REPEATED THE SAME CLIP FOR THE HANDS
Dejavu, there's a glitch in the Matrix or he's just over worked.
Glad it wasn't just me...
*_DEJA VU, I've just been to this scene before_*
YEP
the anime is steam punk, the robots are primitive and it moves like a tank, so the few articulation is accurate, its not a mobile suit any way
Yeah, they're mechs being developed in the 20's they're not advanced marvels of future engineering; the early generation Koubu barely functioned and needed human bombs of spirit power to be able to even twitch let alone fight demons.
It's basically steampunk harem Votoms.
You definitely should have seen the show first. These things aren't the most articulate robots even in the show. And giving it a bronze because of articulation it's not even supposed to have is doing this figure a huge disservice.
i agree, to rate this kit on a level with other Gunpla is too strict.
its a Plamo made by bandai for a limited run. and i feel the limited run is to tie in with the new game launch and the related Spiricle machines
@@eisenklad he’s just sticking with his normal system. His opinion, doesn’t actually affect the kit. You can still like them even if he doesnt
Just built one tonite. He's right. Definitely bronze. Kinda shitty kit.
Is it fair to make it bronze tier when it has more articulation than it does in the animation?
HASHIRE
KOUSOKU NO
TEIKOKU KAGEKIDAN
Unare shougeki no Teikoku Kagekidan... :))
That metallic gold does not look like the normal bandai gold at all, it's far less cheap looking in comparison
Kinda surprised you skipped over how the kit has a complete inner frame.
its not meant to look gold anyways... those are supposed to be Brass parts.
so it looks fine.
Ah sakura wars. Seen the anime played the games grew up on it. Could not get the first intro out of my head. It keeps playing and playing for a long time. The kobus first deployment was certainly unforgettable. How? The intro was playing in the background.
AXN
HASHIRE-
@@mechalinkergaming7169 omg no no no that song again. Over and over playing in my head. Its hard to forget that song even the dance routine. No no no.
[INSERT SEEMINGLY UNRELATED JOKE ABOUT SEGATA SANSHIRO]
''PLAY SEGA SATURN!!''
You mean Sakura's boyfriend
Somewhere, Segata Sanshiro is happy that Sakura Wars is back.
He's probably fighting Shocker in some unnamed foreign country.
I feel like you are a bit harsh to this kit. It's like you rank your kit based on articulation only. Like, it got an opening cockpit, and a almost full inner-frame that you didn't even mention.
I think it's fair, as IIRC bronze tier means it did what it intended to do and does not have anything special that was not expected of the kit, like the details and internals should be there for a kit of that scale(1/20).
@@HarmonyEdge except he basing this to other gunplay when its unfar being they styles are different
Great that it has Sakura inside. The limited articulation is pretty accurate, I believe. Too bad it's not cheaper. Sumire comes out in March.
1/20 is favourite scale for Tamyia F1 cars and more recently (30 years?) Maschinen Krieger Modellers. Back in the days Bandai added 1/20 pilots to their MGs, and they also released a full set of characters.
This kit is more detailed and has more color separation than your average HG...? Why do you value articulation so much? It's easier to build/replace joints than alter the sculpt or add details. There are so many joint sets available, both Bandai and non-Bandai. You can't just buy an add-on for a better sculpt or parts separation.
actually the 1/20 scale Votoms kits from Bandai fit the scale for this. You can also find 1/20 scale plamo models out there outside of Bandai.
One from Starship Troopers is being released, but I can't remember from what company.
Could you imagine how tiny this thing would be if it was 1/35? A frustrating building experience with a depressing payoff as you realize this bot is supposed to be the size of Fallout power armor.
I agree.dont forget the maschinen krieger kits too. Sometimes mechagaikotsu is like the reviewers from IGN. Smh
@@baconpantsable Not really. From what I remember, Fallout power armours are slightly larger than an Iron Man suit, whereas the mechs in Sakura Wars have actual cockpits that the pilot can move around in.
@@otaking3582 Still, Koubu are only about 3-4ish meters tall; so the size of an AT from Votoms- and you see how squished pilots are in ATs. In terms of the cockpits, there isn't a ton of space in them- they're better compared to Zentradi power armors in terms of how they are worn and operated. A 1/35 scale would indeed be ridiculously small and frustrating to build- looking at a eight and a half-ish cm end product.
over time i've noticed that on occasion in videos there are times where either you or the vid itself loops like at (8:04 - 9:04)) and it f's with me every time
I'm literally watching this video like "wtf didn't he just say that"
Lmao i thought i was having a stroke and i went to the comments to see if someone had called him out for an editing slip so I didnt have to call 911 lmao
its the work of enemy stand!
Weird! Adobe premiere had an update that converted/screwed up the video so I had to export it twice. Might have been something to do with that...
@@MechaGaikotsu thats sucks its happened to me
I really like the style of making your videos sir which makes me inspire to build my own channel with the use of budget or cheaper gunpla, tools etc. More power to your videos sir! 👍🏻😀
Seeing the thumbnail cause the theme to pop in my head, so glad the newest game is coming to the US next month!
Sakura Wars TV series is so underrated, I'm just glad bandai make a model kit about this.
I am more surprised such a licensing agreement happened at all; the creator of the series, Oji Hiroi, is known to have a serious grudge with Bandai and Banpresto. It's the primary reason why the IP is simply never going to be in a Super Robot Wars game in spite of it being a pretty common write-in for the polls
They make the kit because the franchise is getting new game on PS4. So they revive the merchandise sale. There is also new model kit made based on the said upcoming game but much smaller scale(1/24) while this one is (1/20).
Wait did anyone notice when we was reviewing the hands he said the same thing twice?
Yeah that happens on other videos, he either stumbles or he just misses it in post
Hehe yep
its cool and the video did loop a few times other tahnn that good review and ive been recommending my gunpla nerd friends that are like me to you and they like your vids keep up the good work
I hope more like this, not only gunpla, but another plastic model kit . It gonna be awesome
There's also a blue one already out, a purple one with a naginata-type polearm coming in March, and then they seem to be making versions based on the recent game for ps4 next, with a more spiky mdoern anime style, starting in May.
Absolutely no giggity from this one XD
I love your explanations man love your vids
Thank you!
Mecha Gaikotsu thank you for your videos
Love this kit, got it a few weeks back in Japan but the white version
So good and different
Nice! I wanna get me one of these, id have to go for the purple one myself though!
1:20 is that 3.75" figures size?
The cockpit is kinda of weird though but it should fit an ewok or a Yoda figure.
Question: are 1/100 HG/MG unpainted Character figures scaled on this Sakura pilot figure? I'm talking about Lacus ( from HG 1/100 Freedom kit), Domon ( MG Shining/God kit ) etc. so that you can manually paint it.
amazing content
They Kobu has the old timey horn since the series takes place in the 1920's.
The fifth game was released on the Wii in the US as Sakura Wars: So long, my love. I don't know if it was released in Europe as well. It takes place in New York rather than Japan and you are not missing any story if you have not played the other games.
I loved that game I got it on the PS2 it was great.
@@gtsgreatteacherscathach5550 It came out on PS2 as well? I was unaware.
@@OptimusShr yep around the same time the Wii version came out.
The Japanese version came out in 2005 and the US version in 2010. The main male character is Ogami’s. Nephew.
@@OptimusShr Most people prefer the PS2 release because 1) the button prompts on the Wii version don't change if you're using a Classic Controller (meaning you'll have either have no idea what you're doing or have to constantly consult the manual) and 2) the PS2 version came with a 2nd disc that includes the original Japanese audio and character names (which I guess was done to appease purists and people that knew of the game prior to the US release, but makes no sense from a narrative standpoint - the game takes place in New York, so why *wouldn't* the characters be speaking English and why *wouldn't* they have American or Hispanic names?)
So that's what happens when you put The Super Crown on an Urbanmech….
Urbanmech - The walking trashcan.
Nice Battletech reference!👍
This is the last place I'd expect an Urbie reference.
Wave's Ma.K kits, which are just a tiny bit more expensive, are 1/20 and have similar proportions, so that's interesting to keep that in mind.
the gem type stickers are also used in the old wing kits and the GM Sniper/Ground Type long beam rifle
I got the white version of this and I love it more than my zaku but it might be just because any kit is cool to me but I just love this model
I loved that double attention to the hands, really inportant
Umm... at 8:03, the hand overview is playing twice in a row for me... Is there a problem with the video?
Thanks for you vids and hard work, but may i suggest dusting the shelve you show the gundam on lol. ive noticed it on a few recent videos but thought perhaps you missed it, its quite noticeable on film. but either way thought id say it. No hate, haha just a thought/suggestion. Cheers
@MechaGaikotsu would you consider doing a review on the PG Strike Freedom? I've seen one review on it already, but I was wondering what your thoughts on it would be.
Those jewels were used on the eva kits from NGE and some vinal kits back in the 90's , I'm happy that sakura wars is starting to get some love again as I have a few of the figures in that weird plastic vinal bandai used and if you ever had the original 1/100 gunpla that came with large figures you know what material I'm on about
🎵Run, fast-as-light Imperial Floral Assault Troop!
Roar, electrifying Imperial Floral Assault Troop!🎵
This uses metallic injection well- as an accent piece. It isn't a big wide expanse of of plastic on an armor piece that has the big obvious injection point smack dab in the middle.
Is there a way to notify mecha gaikotsu about the articulation section? I mean if you watched Sakura wars you know the kenbus aren't the most articulated thing in the universe because they were developed in the 20s so the articulation is actually accurate but mecha gaikotsu give the kit bronze tier instead of being silver tier Wich would be more reasonable so is there anyway to notify him about that?
did i miss stuff or did you mention the hands or manipulators depending on what you wanna call them twice?
Lose part only happen to me once(thankfully). In my RG Tallgeese. Thankfully. It got replaced.
YOOO......MY CHILDHOOD ANIMR FAVORITE MECHA IS IN MODEL KIT AAYYYYY
*cried in happiness*
I bought one 2 days ago because the white one sold out. Also bought the figurise tiga suit. Now if only customs released my soryumaru. Edit: those gems sticker also exists on 2006 gm sniper, specifically the sniper lens. 8:34 duplicate scene?
That jewel sticker was in the HiRM God Gundam
Kind of reminds me of Ma. K. I like it.
Got mine at a closing Gamestop for $12. Wish I had gotten the purple one too!
Mecha from Old Anime 👍👍
Can’t wait for the new remodeled versions to come out. They look way better and I assume will have some nice modern engineering.
The kits have modern engineering, it's just the design doesn't work well with the articulation
im wondering that back pipe could even move? and yeah I think you explain that hand likes 2 times there...
A lot of aircraft kits and the newer Macross PLAMAX kits (both the Variable Fighters and pilot figures) are 1/20 scale. They had to go with this scale because the real life size of these mecha are very small, just enough to contain a pilot.
Soo..what happened to your pg strike freedom?you still have it?
you mentioned a PG strike freedom, any chance you gonna review that kit??
i thought i was crazy for seeing the double clip.
i remember a time when i started building the MG Shenlong, only to find out i didn't have any polycap runner.
are the weapons compatible with HGs?
what scale is that panzer III on his shelf?
1:45 those kind were used for the MG god gundams multiplier
The Armed Trooper VOTOM P-Bandai kits are 1/20 scale so there are some that are.
I think you should review the Striker Mugens from this line
I remember watching the anime on AXN
Same. Oh the glory days of AXN
Parents stare at me every OP theme
Honestly it the articulation was what I expected given the style of the mecha.
In one sense, it's very accurate to source material. The early gen Koubu (this being a Koubu Kai, the 2nd gen machines used in ST2) are not nimble machines- they are clunky and it's a struggle to get them to work properly since the pilot being in a bad mood is enough to completely throw them off. This series is set in the 1920's they're not marvels of future engineering, they're very much a "throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks" kind of project.
They used to use those jewel stickers on the old HG 1/100 Wing kits, they were honestly pretty rad and I kinda miss em....the stickers, not those kits *shudder*
Sakura wars is actually an rpg and dating simulator from the 1996 released for the sega saturn only in outside of japan based on the japanese culter when japan was known for
nice video
Can you review some lbx kits ?
Mecha..try reviewing other bandai model kit..like gosaurer n mazinkaiser series
ohh and by the way the scale is so you understand the size of the people inside . you get . its not a gundam that is very big it has a certain size logic . if im not wrong .
I can't really see Bandai doing a re-mold of it, but it's cockpit remind me of the Jaeger or Mecha from the movie Avatar.
That's a cute zaku
the Sakura Wars world is a steampunk setting, it is set in an alternate history 1920's where steam powered machines rule instead of gasoline.
Oh my childhood!
Nice
1/20 is the scale good smile uses for their minimum factory human kits
Cool
I've been gathering gunpla for basic painting/kit bashes, but then Bandai goes and makes Sakura Wars models...
Now I kinda want to see if I can make a kobu kai/zeon suit bash
This would look sick with the zaku horned epaulets/shoulder armors
Ahh my childhood anime.....
And it still boggling me why the mecha design is like that. Still a cool steampunk/fantasy series though.
Wish they release the enemies -I forgot what it called- grunt kit too. They look more badass then the main team stubby mecha
Considering's Oji Hiroi's animosity toward Bandai & Banpresto be grateful any of these kits are being made.
サクラ大戦 (Sakura Taisen/Sakura Wars) is something I also am not familiar with.
But this mecha designs look unique to say the least.
I am aware thought that a new PS4 game is being made.
@xxnike629xx Don't bother checking out Sakura Wars. Go back to your golden boys: 00, AGE, Naruto...
SW's fanbase doesn't need toxic trolls like you 💩💩💩💩💩
You should try mechatro wego 1/20, to compare with this one.
I think my wallet was on vacation for too long. Sakura wars was pretty good. I'll never forget the theme song.
I think the interior/cockpit design is cool enough to bump it to silver atleast
Ironically, his stated main reason for a bronze is him docking it for being accurate to the material- they're not nimble and articulate machines; at least these 2nd generation units aren't. They're clunky, difficult to use, and were made in the 1920's
You forgot to mention how the pilot figure attaches to the seat.
Sakura is only supposed to have one sword. The extra guard is missing on all of these. Ogami has two complete swords because he dual weilds in the game. I don't really know why they don't just give you the extra part but it's on purpose.
nice kit
But needs painting to make it better
especially the pilot
7:40 Yikes! Having a Perfect Grade with a missing part is a massive OOF!
This would make a good ork killa can
8:04 and 8:34 GER?
The 'Scale' for Bandai's and any other model kit in general, is the scale compare to accual human, imagine, the PG 1/60 scale Gundam and FMP model kits, it means that the FMP kit is somewhat smaller than Gundam in general xD
I might be wrong, lol
Yes the scale means proportioned to the actual size of the machine. Pre-Formula War mobile suits were 18-20 meters tall, Master Grades are a 1/100 scale product line, meaning the assembled model is supposed to be one hundreth of actual size, so 18-20 centimeters tall, which is what most MG's clock in at. Odd ones out tend to throw off comparisons though- everyone loves comparing things to the Nu Gundam models but forget that the Nu Gundam was 25 meters talls, very above average so it towers over its peers regardless of looking at 1/144 or 1/100 scale. Meanwhile everything after the Formula Wars was 14-15 meters tall. So now look at all those reviews in the past that complained the F91 was "too small for a master grade" while they stick it next to the MG Nu Gundam while not acknowledging there's a 10 meter difference between them, which translated into 10 centimeters on the MG.
Back to this, Koubu are 3 meters tall tops, so to have a product about the size of the usual HG 1/144 gundam models (ie, 13-15 cm), you do need a larger scale size like 1/20- you're comparing to something 5 times larger. So are AT's from Votoms (4 meters), Labors (8ish) from Patlabor, and Arm Slaves from FMP (8-10 meters)- these are not giant mechs. Mobile Suits tower over these IPs
@@gtf234 That's a really nice response, thank you :D
The size is cute and just imagine when gundam come than how the real size oh the robot?
A Koubu would go up to a Mobile Suit's knee maybe, they're only 3-4ish meters tall and the average pre-Formula Wars era Mobile Suit was 18-20 meters, post Formula War is 14-15
mecha : couldyou stand up please
me (freaking out): i'm not the only one that. i'm not XD XD
I would think the plastic quality and detail alone would earn this a silver. And those 3d stickers.
Is HGCE Aile Strike (revive) any good?
pretty good but you still have to paint the wing of the aile striker pack
As someone that has the old strike and revive as well, its a bit better then the old but not worth the 15 to 20 dollar as some hg kits.so if you can get it for 10 or have the old prefect strike kit (which is compatible) i would say get it but if not the strike noir is better
@@Heroduothecomedian ok thanks, ended up taking the Zaku 2.0 and the revive leo instead, I'll grab the strike noir if my shop gets it in stock
@@lethoma913 the leo is fun especially now that where getting premium bandai gunpla west side starting march or April 3rd. So im sure the flight and space type leos will be easier to get once they have a reissue made and my full weapon leo set came in tthe mail yesterday and im still fiddling with my leo and all the different weapons i can put on it lol
@@Heroduothecomedian cries in Australia
"so won't the real granddady please stand up, please stand up, please stand up..."
Just looks like a more steampunk Maschinen Krieger kit to me but better quality.
Well considering the mecha were built in the 1920’s lorewise the articulation fits they weren’t the most nimble things
The missing hilt is not by accident, Sakura only uses one sword. Ogami the white Koubu uses two swords. This is a steam punk type game/anime as the story is an alternate 1920 (Taisho era) history where everything runs on steam power.
All I see is a pink version of the robot from chrono trigger
I keep seeing a female Big Daddy... so a Big Mommy I guess
Sakura Taisen came out a year after Trigger, so Robo could be an inspiration.
How bad you don´t know the anime, Segata Sanshiro died for nothing.
