I aint gonna lie after finishing Marvels Spiderman 2. I went back and played The Amazing Spiderman on Wii U and it still holds up like the web rush is so unique. May be the most realistic Spiderman game fr fr props to the devs.
Man I just finished playing this game. So much nostalgia and fun packed into one game. I did everything you possibly can in the game (besides finding all the dang comics lol). I just started playing the second one for the first time, and yeah kinda just not nearly as attention keeping/fun as the first so far…
UPDATE: Finished the second game, sad moving on from the series as a whole. Started to enjoy the second one way too late into it, but wasn’t invested story-wise at all.

@@polarpenguin3840 I have the Wii U version of the first game, & while it has all the DLC I wouldn't really recommend it since it crashes whenever I try to play the stun man missions anyways. Other stuff works fine, but it runs at like 20 fps half the time & resolution & textures are all really low. Game is still playable, but man is it sadly an ugly chugger. 2nd game runs & looks better but as you said, it's less fun.
Just completed the second amazing Spider-Man.. thinking of moving onto Spider-Man 3 for the 360. I only ever played it for the PS2.
The mobile version of amazing Spider-Man 2 is a very different game, and had Yuri Lowenthal voicing Peter/Spider-Man before Insomniac.

Strong memories of this game. When I was in elementary school I went to a sleepover at a friend's house with 3 other boys and the dude's mom let us rent 2 games for his Xbox 360 so we chose Star Wars the Force Unleashed 2 and this game. That whole night was a blast, it was winter time so we went ice skating, then had a Nerf war, and finally sat around the tv in the living room with the fire place on, drinking hot cocoa and playing this game. Always takes me back to simpler times.
Its always funny to me how oscorp in this spider-man game has giant kaiju sized robots that would give godzilla trouble in a fight but spider-man can fight them

I’m a sucker for ripped suits on super hero’s which is why I love the Sam Rami movies so much so the fact that your suit gets more and more ripped as you play was so cool
My man I've just started playing this now too. I regrettably didn't back then, so when my buddy gave me a 360, and I saw the amazing spiderman I was like let's go. I've gotten through it quite a bit dude high five it's cool to see someone else playing older games 😊
I played this on the vita, and it was a great portable experience. Frame rates were low, sure, but it didn't interfere on the gameplay overall, and felt like a complete package.
This video brought back so much nostalgia for the game. It was very awesome and fun. The best part for me was battling the huge robots across the city and feeling badass after taking them down. Really great video Retro Rebound👍
I knew it was gunna crash after that interview with gamespot I believe and they were all like “ what have you done to fix the complaints the 1st installment gets in this sequel “ and homeboys response was “ DO YOU SEE HOW CLOSE THE CAMERA IS TO SPIDER-MAN. “

Going through a break up rn myself man. Just bought a renewed version of this game after watching your review. This is my first time playing it ever & I never played the sequel either. This game is Awesome and the fact that it lets you read comics is sick, I definitely feel better.
With the DLC no longer available, there's one clear best version of this game, and that's the Wii U version of all things. It looks as good as the 360 and PS3 versions and it has all the DLC mission packs right on the disc. That said, the best version of Amazing Spider-Man 1 is a pizza.
I'll play devil's advocate on the story. When I first went through it at the time, I admit I didn't enjoy it because I didn't like the movie, but after all these years, I get what they were trying to do.
This game came out at the time where we didn't know what the sequel was gonna be like, and everyone expected it to be like the first one, dark, gritty and all of that, so you can tell that Sony had big plans for this universe before the second movie basically changed everything.
Despite Nolan North's over-the-top acting at the later half of the game, the first half is actually pretty good. The premise following the events of the movie with the concept that Spider-Man and Lizard keep bouncing between their roles of hero and villain... that's great. I knew they were planning to have Lizard be the main antagonist at the end, but the way it was built towards that is what sold me.
The only problem I'd say is Smythe. I liked that they gave him an actual motivation as a character to the point I could actually agree with him despite his actions, the same as Connors, but when he got defeated, it felt really disappointing, not to mention the ending leaving a bittersweet taste at the idea that Smythe just... dies lol.
My favorite part was definitely the whole dynamic between the characters, Peter, Gwen, Connors and Smythe, with a very honorable mention for the photograph missions helping tell the story.
I actually finished my first replay this game last month. I hadn't played it since it came out. This time I did it on Super Hero difficulty and was surprised by something. Honestly Super Hero feels like the difficulty the game was designed/balanced for. All the other difficulties feel way too easy. All it really does is crank up the enemies’ aggression & damage output. Essentially turning Spidey into a glass cannon, which is EXACTLY what Spider-Man is (relatively speaking), and how he should feel to play. Outside of a couple “protect the target from constantly spawning shooters” moments (which suck in any game), it didn’t feel cheap or overly frustrating at all. It was an absolute blast, and had me riding the razors edge the entire way through. I absolutely LOVED it.
That said I'm currently playing through Amazing Spider-Man 2 (on PS3) for the first time, and am surprised at how fun the game is. It had some surprisingly awesome ideas, and you can definitely see the building blocks/foundations for Insomniac's games in it. That being said, it's DEFINITELY rough in some aspects. The graphics aren't the best. The game is definitely glitchy AF. And some of the story choices were... interesting... to say the least. It legitimately feels like an improvement on ASM in terms of mechanics, even if some of the new elements are half-baked. That being said, I went in expecting ASM2 to be a Spider-Man 3 (PS3 & PS2) level dumpster fire or worse... but have been surprised at how much I've enjoyed it unlike SM3. Also I recommend playing the PS3 version... as believe it or not last gen (at the time) systems are what it was primarily designed for.

The Amazing Spider-Man is a MASTERPIECE of a game. I like to think the PS Vita was the Nintendo Switch before the Nintendo Switch, not quite there yet, but a crucial step in our way to success.
Well, The Amazing Spider-Man is the Insomniac Spider-Man games before the Insomniac Spider-Man games. This is SO GOOD. I finished it on my 360, I then proceded to get it on my PS Vita and got the Platinum for it, and now I am thinking of getting the 3DS version and finishing it there as well.
FYI as one of the few people in the world who owns and still plays their Wii U, it should be noted that the Wii U version of this game contains all the DLC ON DISK. I don't know for sure, but I believe the DLC is no longer available for PS3 or 360, so Wii U may be the only way to get it now. There's like five DLC packs, three of which add new side campaigns? I believe? Also the classic Spider-man outfit is DLC, and Wii U starts with it.

Who else liked this game and the first game Alistair Smythe and his spider Slayers robots were incredible Mainly the Villains Animal variants I loved this villain
it's a shame that in the end he doesn't come back and dies
A curiosity in the 1st game is the concept arts and in this Second Game it was supposed to have Kraven hunting the virus variants Animals and we would have the First game,the Lizard transforming everyone In the city in the final fight into Reptiles in the 1st game but it was cut from the story And also in 1 Game and in this one we would have Doctor octopus,Rhino,Scorpion,Iguana,Vermin,Wolf-Man,Morbius and Vulture animals monsters Species crossing They Return Like Villains being hunted And dead by Kraven And we would still have others human villains that were cut like: The gang war between Hammerhead vs Mister Negative Boss battle for us to fight
And others boss fights That were cut
The Enforcers,Chameleon,The Hood,Mysterio,the Rose,Sandman and Hydroman In this second game And we would even have more scenes from the prison that we visit and there would be several cells with the names of each of the villains That we would face and put them there and even the prison of the Kingpin,Carnage,Electro among others And the Shocker along with Curt Connors would be in this prison with others villains names appearing but it was removed from the final product
And We would have The Venom,Jackal With the Clone Saga + Sinister Six is the mains villains of the 3rd game
It's a shame that all of this was removed but Alistair Smythe remains the best villain of all and for me the first game is incredible And it would be interesting if there was a 3rd game to close this saga and with all these Villains that were not used UwU 🥺😎👍 like and Bye!
until the Insomniac Spider-Man games this was my favourite one followed by Spider-Man 2
I'm a bit saddened that you didn't talk even more about the real time battle damage that appears on Pete's costume as you take damage. It's just about the coolest little detail nobody ever talks about for some reason. Like, it gets CRAZY ripped up if you intentionally take damage and test it out.

Why does everyone forget that real Spider-Man games were on Xbox before PlayStation bought the Spider-Man character…. These games were way better and u can actually hit the ground while swinging unlike PlayStation new ones where u float above the ground
I remember when I first got the game for my birthday, i had to have my dad play the vermin, scorpion, and natty (the piranha cross species) boss fights cause there designs freaked me out.
Somehow the rhino or lizard didn't scare me, and I also got arkham asylum for that birthday too yet scarecrow didnt freak me out.🤷♂️
I think I didn't like the vermin bit cause that's when they introduced the infected which were basically zombies to my child brain,
I didnt like scorpion cause he was fast, loud, and who isn't scared of something with a sharp kn*fe like object attached to it that can move faster than you.
And there was a bit when your tracking lizard and you get stuck between the grate and the piranhas coming up behind you, I remember I was like "what are you doing, don't look behind you, there getting closer everytime you do".😂😂😂
“Better” web swinging is bold considering in this game if you hold one button it’s on rails and doesn’t attach to buildings. Compare that to the original SM2.

this and shattered dimensions are just two of my many reasons I still have my old ps3,still love how this like an alternative sequel, the boss fights specially against the giant robots are epic and it's the only game you can unlock man-spider as a skin. it's just overalll... well... amazing :D Also as much I like the imsoniac game (have no option to play the second one at the moment) I kind miss that slow mo, choose your web target option from this game XD

I played this on WiiU during the 2020 pandemic/lockdown and it was eerie how well Amazing Spider-Man nailed the text messages/ Message Boards with all the conspiracy theories and "Fake news" claims. 😅
ASM2 on paper is the perfect Spider-Man movie, but something just gets lost in it's execution
I played this game to death when it came out. My only real gripe is that I really don't vibe with the cloud-swinging thing this game does, much prefer the way SM2, USM and the new Insomiac games do it with it attaching to stuff in the physical world.
I liked this game. The open world part was empty but was in general, a good game.
Even though this game is supposedly set between TASM 1 and 2, I found it very hard to believe that Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man fought skyscraper-sized robots and human hybrid Frankenstein monsters between the first and second movies. The TASM universe is much more grounded than the other two cinematic versions of Spider-man, so it just seemed way too over the top for this interpretation of the character.
I have to disagree on how grounded this universe is. Compared to the other 2, it's actually the wackiest one, and that's actually great.
Spidey moves like he's a cartoon, Lizard literally just wants to turn everyone into lizards and all the other villains are very over-the-top stereotypes, which is basically taking the comic books straight to live-action so it's accurate to source material. That would never be possible in the other versions.
Look at Raimi villains, the only one that actually resembles the comics is Sandman, and even then it's a pretty different character. MCU are just guys using Iron Man tech, little to no comic resemblance.
I had this game on Xbox 360,it was one of my favourite Spiderman games on the Xbox 360 besides Spiderman Shattered Dimensions,I would have days where I would play it for 6 hours a day nonstop and I'd still wouldn't get bored of it, the game already looks pretty good on the Xbox 360 but imagine how good it would be if it got remade on the ps4,ps5 maybe even the Xbox series X 🤔
Spider-Man 2 on the PS1 is the spidey game i played the most, still need to pick up the insomniac games 😀
The thing to consider too... Not everyone HAS a PS4 or PS5 to play those newer Spider-Man games on. I, myself, have an Xbox Series S, and an Xbox 360. I can't afford to buy a whole new console. I already have a ton of games on my current consoles, and can't really be buying a new console, plus starting a new collection of games. So, in cases like mine, I can't just go play the newest Spider-Man games, and am instead looking for alternatives on the consoles I DO have. And we all know, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X didn't get a single Spider-Man game, so I'm stuck looking at 360 games. Luckily, the 360 had it's fair share of decent to good Spider-Man games. Spider-Man 3, Amazing Spider-Man, the Web of Shadows trilogy. (Friend of Foe also, but I don't know if that one's good or not).
And for someone like me that can't play those new ones, something like this game, is really nice to have. It's not exactly the same as the newer games, but it at least gets close. Fun free-flowing web swinging, Arkham combat and stuff, pretty dang good graphics for a 360 game.
I picked this up for 30 bucks here in Australia a few days ago. Look forward to jumping into it soon.

You said that you can't web enemies to the ceiling which isn't true as someone who 100% completeled the game on psvita its in the upgrades you can even web two enemies up to the ceiling in stealth ....looking back I'm impressed I even beat it in general which I did ...multiple times
I'm so glad I have the Spider-Man games in my collection before Spider-Verse comes out cause, yeah, those prices are going to get even more out of hand.

The Amazing Spider-Man game, is the best movie tie-in game ever.
The continuation of the plot of the first film, is great on it's own, and it's handled quite well.
The best part about the game was getting the bones suits through taking pictures, i enjoyed playing in the scarlet spider (Kaine), the negative zone and Big Time suits, those were my go-to suits, especially Big Time at night, since it glows. =)
There's something epic about playing in different Spider-Man costumes lol, it's always fun wearing a suit, that came from a different era.

I played a little of the Spider-Man 2 Vita version. Thought for an on the go experience it was one of the more better generic titles for the vita. In todays age, the small screen, frame drops, and pixelated image just destroyed any positives the game has, but if I had to give one; I was surprised that they managed to fit an open world with web slinging on the go. 😂
Very good for what it was and a return to open world after the last one we had being web of shadows. Hyped for this game at the time, loved it, still do, its not perfect but the animations are incredible

I like this game a lot. The combat is almost a 1 for 1 to Insomniac's combat, only Insomniac are cracked at animation and TASM hid all the cool moves behind upgrades and extra inputs and it was easier to beat enemies by mashing punch and dodge (smart how Insomniac solved that by putting all the cool stuff into basic combos). And I actually like the story, the whole public perception thing is always interesting in my opinion.
I also liked The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie, we number amidst maybe 12 people brave enough to say so on the internet.
Insomniac SM1 felt very similar to ASM1

Every time I try to play Amazing Spider-man 2, I get so bored within the first couple hours I turn it off.
Back in the day i played this game for hours on the ps3 i have so many memories of this game of course it's not a masterpiece like Spiderman PS4 but i think it's the second best Spiderman game ever made.

While these games aren’t great i am so against games being delisted. Sucks amazing Spider-Man 2 isn’t available and it causes physical copies to go up. The ps4/xb1 version of AS2. At least last i checked it was expensive but that was when the movie was out

I would play this game Al other time as a 13 year old, I’d have the 100% black suit and get beat up all the way to the most damaged look cause I just loved the hell out of it. Genuinely hoping that black suit will be a part of Spider-Man 2.
I still have my ps3 copy of the game . I remember it having good combat , web swinging and crawling . Plus it was super reliant on the frozen time perception ability and stealth
It was solid. But not worth having beenox shift away from the really good spider man games they were making. They basically half finished edge of time so they could work on this instead and now it's illegal to make a spiderman game that isn't a massive open world

Hey Retro Rebound, I know this is a long shot, but, despite this game being long, I would suggest for PS2: Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King or for the PS4/PC Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.
This game looks fantastic on PC at 4k 60fps. Not sure if 120hz breaks it

Film thoughts! Amazing Spider-man 1 is a better quality film than 2, but the second one feels more true to the comics. In the second movie Andrew and the writers really figured out a good Peter.

Did you even play this game? There are perch take downs and even ceiling takedowns, heck you can do takedowns from more spots in this game than Spider-Man PS4. And how did Spider-Man PS4 fix wall crawling, it is easily one of the worst parts of Spider-Man's gameplay in both insomniac games

This game’s combat is way better than the Insomniac’s one. I hope they improve the combat in the sequel cause it sucks. 3-4 animations kicks and just a single punch. We’re talking about Spiderman here not an average Joe.
First played it on 3ds which is the same version on the vita. But the second I beat in a weekend though redbox on xbox 360.
