- Tadej Pogačar, the wonder boy who stunned the cycling world by winning the most prestigious cycling race, Tour de France, two times in a row, reveals the secret of his success and how he feels connected with Slovenia.
“These landscapes shaped the way I cycle,” he says with an ever-smiling expression on his face. Sports is what unites us here and Slovenian athletes are the greatest ambassadors. This video brings you closer to this remarkable energy, which is felt by Tadej Pogačar while riding along the most impressive and demanding cycling routes in Slovenia, among them also the road to the Vršič mountain pass, which reaches an elevation of 1,611 meters and has 50 numbered hairpin bends like the famous Tour de France climb to Alpe d’Huez. “This is my way of freedom”, he concludes.

That's why i love the pogacar and vingegaard rivalry. In any other sport there is always toxicity among the fans, unnecessary hate and constant "my sportsman/team" is better and yours sucks. But here its pure respect from both sides. They are both great men and they respect each other,glad to see its the same among the fans. Pure respect all round
It is crazy that Vingegaard is so good at mountain climbing given how flat Denmark is. Pogacar has a huge advantage being born in a mountainous country.

How could u not become an Elite Cyclists in sLOVEnia riding in this Environment. Awesome. I have a mate on Strava who runs ultra marathons over there . The roads are in fabulous condition. Wouldn't it be Gr8 2 go ride over there. Tadej is a very down 2 earth 🌎 young guy . Clean & no Drugs . Just hard work . Wishing him a sensational career 👏 ×2 TdeF b4 he is 22yrs outstanding 😅 Bravo .

I am from Denmark and cheer for Vingegaard. But Pogacar, he is such a great sport and his always daring and attacking riding style, have made him very popular in the cycling world. So thrilled about the TdF 2023, together he and Jonas have made this TdF one of the best and most exciting ever. Thx for making cycling so much better Pogi!!

The climb up over the Predil pass into Slovenia is beautiful and then the vista opens up over that bridge into the one of the most spectacular views I've ever encountered on the bike. You can then either go along the Soca valley or up the Mangart climb, either of which is incredible, but the Soca valley offers the prospect of the Vrsic climb at the end. It's a shame the Giro doesn't visit these climbs more often as they're the equal of anything Italy has to offer.
How can you miss that -- slovenia even put those mountains on their flag!
Some are even cobbled some gorgeous climbs. Cyclist magazine did Slovenia edition back in 2014 it was only a matter of time before this generation arrived. Spilak and brakoviz we're at time two incredible climbers of note but best was to come with primoz and tadej and matej coming from youth ranks. Awesome magazine If you get a chance the routes they rode were stunning.

I spent a week in Slovenia years ago with my friends, and just travelled by car off the beaten track all around the country. It's an absolutely stunning country, that packs so much into such a small area. I hope to go back there some day.

We just returned from an unforgettable visit to Slovenia. Even times it with Tadej’s victory celebration in Ljubljana. Rode so much, even the Vrisic pass. Some of the greatest miles yet. Unreal country and people.

He's literally the nicest kindest kid still gives his trophies to his parents, some people are tired of him winning that's always the case in every sport with hierarchy. UAE struck gold with him not other way around they are building team currently but Vuelta he podiumed at 20 after working for aru. They don't come quieter unassuming off bike. On it he's a natural for certain. Agreed gives good context of his true personality you literally see him privately give his mom and dad strade trophy people forget he's just 23 he's been so good so long already. He's still a kid 🤙🍻

Beautiful video and let's be honest Primož started the cycling boom in Slovenia back in 2016 and Tadej just lifted it on a whole other level. I remember when i bought my first rode bike in 2014 there was not a lot of people riding in Slovenia and now there is an explosion of cyclist in our country and it's beautiful to see. So thank you Pog & Rog and big thank you to Tadej for bringing new kids in to this beautiful sport.

Him racing tour of Slovenia as prep for tour last year and winning and same schedule this year is just class and character. No better recognition he could bestow on his home country after Olympics and all. Beautiful. It would be great to see more info on suggested areas to ride, nearby airports, local infrastructure possibilities for transport with bike (bike only or in bike box) on buses or train. Bus and train connections (and possiblity to travel with bike). Also the ideal time of year to visit for a cycling holiday. Also, other opportunities for people with families, like what else to do.. hiking, walking, trails, mountain biking, spas, thermal springs etc. Thanks, keep it coming 😊🙏👍
You should make Kranjska Gora your base and then just go riding with a bike everyday. Slovenia is small enough for you to ride through on a bike if you wanted to. Majority of younger folk speak english, train/bus connections are regular if slow(but you are on a holiday o why is the rush). I would also suggest visiting maribor and do some biking there( Pohorje has a few 10km+ climbs), all in all a great contry to see all of it in a week maybe.

Okay great luck to us / I have 2 more races/ my nicley avg 60Km / 4 hours / z2 / next is building my block/ and include lots of different therapy for my body/ naturally

Predil and Mangart. Such a good climb, with only a problem, last part is closed. Two years ago there were landslides, and it's hard to fix. Hope that they solve somehow cause it's such a great place to bike.
