DJ Akademiks talked about the controversial statement made by Kanye West that he created musical styles of artists such as Drake, Young Thug, The Weeknd, Future, and Travis Scott. Drake freestyles on the beat to “Say You Will” on So Far Gone too. The Weekends beats on House of Ballons were inspired by So Far Gone. He inspired Travis too. I can’t give him credit for Future or Thug tho.

Drake, Future then everyone else, Kanye is definitely Goated from the music to the fashion but let’s be honest who are we waiting for to drop.
Kanye was early as far as mainstream artists go, but late to the wave that birthed what we have now. He 100% got the new ag I'me, melodic, dark sounding aesthetic/mixing style from Travis Scott. Future was also right there timing wise with the over mixed & distorted spacey vibes. Kanye signed Travis as a producer and immediately had him touch almost every record on 808s & Heartbreak production wise, which was Ye's first project where he introduced his new sound (not just simple auto tune). Future & even Young Thug very shortly after came with their own version of the spacey, new-age aesthetics...but the sinister & demonic vibes 100% came from Travis. Kanye had a more colorful version of it, which in hindsight seems like Travis also created just for Kanye. To add to it, if you wanna go even further back Travis said he got most his inspiration from Cudi who was the first of his kind as well as far as playing outside the conventional box aestheticly. Overall If you really know, then you know that Travis' album "Days Before Rodeo" is the original source of all these new types of Hip-Hop. And if you really wanna pinpoint a song, I'd say "Sky Fall" was the first song that really changed it all. The engineers name was Alex I believe who also was a genius behind it. The BTS video itself of them making/mixing that record is an artifact that should be used in academia & studied for years to come 💯

I think it worked both ways , Ye discovered cudi when he was working at the bape store in NY and I think over the Years Ye definitely seen how Cudi was styling himself. Years later in 2014-2016 is when we saw Ye wearing Jordan 1’s and ofc he already had his Nike deal by then and that era is what started the (Nike,Jordan,Yeezys) sneakers being Hyped up to a all time high leading up to 2020

Kanye is a megalomaniac whom exaggerates his importance in a society where he truly holds no power. He isn't the President/ Governor/ State Attorney General or any other government office holder. Prince was a musical genius who played 11 instruments/ wrote all his songs/ arranged/ composed/ produced/ sang lead and backing vocals( Kanye does NON of those things. Kanye isn't Stevie Wonder who as a blind man he himself is a musical genius/ producer/ plays keyboards/ synthesizer/ piano/ writes/ produces/ arrange. Kanye again is NON of those. He isn't an activist like Mario Savio/ Audrey Lorde/ Cesar Chavez/ Dr. Mutulu Shakur.
