I made it a little over two hours before having to go to bed, Prof Lieu, you really went hard! Finishing up today because it was a great stream 😊 I can’t wait for the next one!
Ha! I cracked up--I was waiting for your reaction to the Michael Harding paints. It's not because you haven't painted with oils for a while. I used them for the first time this summer, and I refuse to use any other oil paints now. They are soooo buttery. PS: For other solvent free painting: I use the Chelsea Classical Studio Lavender Brush Cleaner and their Lavender medium. I prefer it to the other solvent free mediums because it makes your entire space smell like lavender! :)
@@brigittemccray8330 I bought the little box set of I think 2 oz bottles of all the Chelsea Classical Studio stuff at Jerry’s and used them once and had to get rid of them. They smelled so strong! Not bad, necessarily, but I get migraines from scents and those were wayyyy too powerful for me. Just putting it out there for anyone else who might have scent tolerance issues. Other than that, they worked great.
And I do like painting I just need to practice more because my main problems with it are over working , muddying the colors , and not painting enough in general:[
I want to try oil painting so much! But I feel a little intimidated by the rules of oil painting like fat over lean, layering, dark to light and also being realistic about drying expectations. I don't know what's recommended for oil first-timers. I've only really painted with acrylic, watercolor and some gouche. I don't want to "splurge" if I don't know if it's for me yet. Any tips?
I would watch these 2 videos: part 1: ruclips.net/video/dPw8J2G7cqI/видео.html and part 2: ruclips.net/video/YyzyeAZI9sI/видео.html as these are the complete overview of what oil painting entails. -Prof Lieu

I would LOVE a video on where to buy those big raw canvases and how to prime and make a canvas for oil painting!
