I own chickens and have for awhile, and your problem with broken eggs may be that the chickens have calcium deficiency. THis means that their eggs are very thin making them easily breakable. After they break, the chickens will eat them and that is why there is no yolk near the shell. We were able to fix this problem by mixing ground down scallop shell into their feed. We also bought high-calcium feed for them. I hope that this may help you with your problem and keep on making great videos!

Don't give up Matt! I know someone who made a DIY solar pool heater, you need a few big house radiators (should be able to get them free from a house clearence or something) don't use rubber tube as that's an insulator unlike the metal radiators, they'll conduct the heat to the water quickly, clean the white paint off them and paint them black and then use a similar pump (maybe bigger) and place them out of sight somewhere, even maybe on a roof? and you'll be golden
You could build a moat (aka a lazy river) around the house/property.
With the water conditions in texas it would probably cost way way too much just for permits

Growing up, our chickens used to do the same thing. My grandad always told me that was a sign chickens needed calcium in their diet. He would always supplement crushed oyster shells from the feed store to assist in this issue. pretty sure its the chickens doing it. you can actually feed your scrap eggshells from the kitchen back to your chickens, just do a google search for prep.

9:00 I told you so... pipes are too reflective and possibly not enough, though I have seen working systems that aren't much bigger, though store bought panels which are designed to be much more efficient.
There is an alternative to all that ugly piping system though... just get a darker liner for your pool, the liner will absorb the rays of color creating heat in the pool. I personally have always wanted to see a space themed liner... mainly all black with stars and possibly a bit of milky way in there too. It'd make the pool feel deeper and more moody.

@@RedneckJimAdventures Ya, that's the other thing... the hell are they complaining about the cold water for? Even in winter they can still go swimming in their pool. Mine would turn into a solid block of ice with 3 feet of snow on top. So what if their pool isn't shower temperature, get over it.
We used to have chickens and when ours began to eat their eggs it meant that they did not have enough calcium. So, you might want to bake the leftover eggshells (don’t have to just makes them taste less like eggshells) and throw the cracked eggshells as scratch feed for them.
Tip for life: don't make a video of you stripping for the internet, next to family photos. :)

Run pvc 2”, run it through the rafters of the closest building and fill. Let heat and empty into pool, refill repeat. Circulation pump on timer helps.

Matt, we had that issue with the chicken eggs too. Our solution was to put a trail camera in the coop and watch for the culprit. It turned out it was one of the older chickens, so we made some chicken noodle soup that night.

So we have tons of chickens. Our chickens eat the shell and eggs when they are low on calcium. We usually put two scoops of calcium that we get from tractor supply and it’ll last a while.

my dad made a solar water heater on our roof to heat our hot water.
it was made up of a lower black alkathene tube down by the gutters and a upper alkathene up at the roof capping, then runners going up from the lower to the top tube. with a solar controller that turned on a pump.
you could do some thing like this on the barn roof??
As the tin will get hot and the black tubes will soak up the heat. and it don't take up any ground space.
the only thing you will have to do to maintain it is drain it in the fall if your prone to have frosts

My grandfather made a water heater system for his pool back in the day. It worked well and was not an eye sore.

When I was a teen and living with my parents, my dad built a solar heater for our pool. The solar portion was about as thick, twice as wide and 5 times longer. The pipes were spread evenly and run parallel from the main input line to the main output line. There were about 12 parallel pipes and they were made out of copper and painted black. They run the length of the box and were spaced about 3-4 inches apart. Our pool was about 6000 gallons which I think is about 1/3rd of yours. It took about 3 days of bright sunny days to tell it was working and about 3 weeks to get warm enough to install a bypass valve.
My point is, that little heater never had a snowball's chance in hell that it would heat up your pool.

We had a hot tub with a similar set up that you have, except we had three 8' by 3' copper panels with tubing through it. It heated the tub up to about 90 with 5-6 hours of direct sunlight.

Copper Tubing for that solar water heater. And depending on how much water your heating probably needs to be a lot bigger. Brother made one for 4th grade science class. Got it to boiling.

Someone I know uses that system but much bigger, it works really well and he set it up on the roof of a shed near his pool to avoid the eye sore

Just an idea but if I remember correctly you have a covered area next to your pool. You could put hose on top of that to cover more area and then run it down into the pool. Which would heat the pool much more efficiently and get rid of the eye sore

You can use a metal box a few sheets of mild steel paint it black and it will hold the heat and then mount it away from the pool and run the tube under the dirt and boom no eye sore and a warm water solar powered system just a suggestion my friend.

Heater problems: you'd get better performance, maybe even enough to make it useful by correcting several points . . . 1) the plexiglass, because of the shiny surface reflects some heat, 2) the piping is shiny, paint everything FLAT BLACK for the best heat absorption

Circle the tube around the pool under black pavement and it'll heat up. Also put the incoming and outgoing pipes on the different sides of the pool so it will actually heat the cold water not already heated water.
You put the black pipe on ur roof.. hidden and sun, winwin. u need some kind of pump tho
just hook it up to your existing pool pump, that you run anyways have seen this done a couple times, and on the roof is a good idea, plus you would be moving a larger amount of water with a hose the size of the pool pump and not a pond/drip hose
it’s most likely the chickens eating the eggs and they will continue to do it and a good solution is to put golf balls in the coop or you can buy fake eggs that when they peck won’t break and they will eventually quit eating them.

Hey Matt had the same problem with my chickens many years ago. The old man that sold me the chickens he said that they need oyster shells or some kind of a calcium or other mineral supplement that they're looking for in their own eggs most often they need the calcium from the shellls. And that happens when they get too many vegetables not enough meat,??? I bought oyster shells and scattered them around the pen and it stopped almost immediately..
