I'm a beginner and have a 38 drop cat, and thinking of switching to 33. Just for the compact size and that I can take it to more places easily, attached to my backpack. My issue is that I still want to be able to go fast and bomb some medium - deep hills. I can go pretty well on the 38, but I hope that won't be sacrificed on the 33. If anyone could help out it'd me great.
Thanks for the kind words man, gonna work towards putting out more videos for sure. . I'd say the 33 can handle hills a bit but won't be as stable as the 38. If you want to get as much stability out of it you'll have to make some mods. Buy a 40* Bear baseplate for the back truck and get some aftermarket bushings. It will help make it more stable whilst still being as turny. You're gonna hacve to play around with some bushings to get it to feel perfect.

great review. on the ease of pushing and breaking on drop thru/ drop decks, i think its due to the fact you have to bend your standing leg less to reach the ground. balancing on a single bent leg takes a bunch of energy in your core, too.
Hey, loved this review. I’m looking at this as in intro board for just carving. You covered everything I wanted to know and gave some tips for changes later. You’re replies to the comments helped answered my other questions too. Thanks man!
Great review, thanks. I got the 38 version with 50’ trucks and flipped the hangers to get rid of the twitchiness. I also swapped the stock 90a cones for softer venoms (87 back, 85 front) and kept the barrels. It became much more easier to control on higher speeds with enough maneuverability for cruising.
Yup, sounds good. I didn't like venoms when I tried them, but I always used super soft bushings. Might try your combo next time. It might work. Cheers!

Hey man, thanks for this amazing review. I'm feeling my dro cat 33 a bit unstable when turning on medium speeds too. Can you explain in more detail what you did to get better feedback from the trucks?
Hey, thanks for watching. I used soft double barrel bushings. With a softer barrel in the front truck. I use 85a hardcore barrels in front and 90a hardcore barrels in the back. Hello, and congratulations for your good review. I wonder if this drop cat is good for me. I'm a beginner (finally I know how to roll, move forward with carving and I have quite a good sense of balance), I recently bought a dinghy blunt. My goal was to ride with something fun around town, cruiser chill, with something maneuverable. (I am 1m80 tall, weigh 77kg, and wear a size 45) Only the small 60mm wheels bother me, I have to be very attentive to the slightest pebble or small hole in the road. I rode stationary on drop cats in the store, and I really liked the rocker (but I didn't ride it). Someone sells used (and is put to exchange) his drop cat 33 against my dinghy. But I have questions. -Will the platform be too small? (I saw that the drop cat 38 had about the same surface area as the dinghy for the feet, so the 33 would be smaller!) I figured that the 38 would be better but on the other hand I think that the 33 can be very nice and better for cruising around town, I don't know. -If I only have drop 33, will it bother me because it won't be possible to climb sidewalks without a quicktail? Shouldn't I rather wait to find a cheap used drop cat 38 and keep my dinghy, and put bigger wheels (65 or 69mm for example)? Either I exchange my dinghy against the drop cat 33, or I keep it and I put bigger wheels while waiting to buy a drop cat 38 in addition? (Oh, and I don't know if you can answer that sincerely since you're sponsored by landyachtz, but I can also have a tan tien not too expensive, I can also keep the dinghy, put big wheels, and maybe get a tan tien, but I don't know if it's as pleasant as the drop cat since it has no rocker, on the other hand it has a kicktail which can allow you to climb the sidewalks?)
hey i have a similar board and its great. only thing is at higher speeds turning sometimes the back of the board slips out suddenly. i have grippy wheels so guess the problem is because my stance isnt wide enough? -theres not enough weight on the back of the board? a bit scary. i suck at long boards i think

So I purchased it, but while trying to learn the coleman slide, I found it was difficult to make my rear foot flat. Should I put it on the baseplate of just shift my weight more
do you think pairing this board with 40 degree trucks will reduce the tight rope feel? having 50 degree trucks with the extra rocker makes it almost like 57 degrees. i may be wrong though, just a thought

do you think pairing this board with 40 degree trucks will reduce the tight rope feel? having 50 degree trucks with the extra rocker makes it almost like 57 degrees. i may be wrong though, just a thought
Yeah it solves it. I was riding it with 42.5/30 Ronin's at one point and it felt pretty damn great. I'd really recommend you try it 40/40
Do the dropcat complete comes with shockpads and washers? If no, do I need to get them to make my deck last longer? Thank you for the review!
No shockpads, no washers. I'd suggest some washers for the bolts, but not super needed
@@downhill254skate I see, I am 6f7 ( i know I'm tall), is the dropcat 38 tall enough or I should go for something longer like the switchblade 40?
@@ToXiPCGaming they're about the same size, just go for the one you like.
Is there a difference between the two drop cats? The seeker and the illumination. The white one and the green one.
If they're both the 33inch, then only the design is different
@@downhill254skate I’m getting it! I’ll let you know my thoughts in a few day!
Edit: the seeker to be exact
@@downhill254skate I got he board! I only went on it for a minute because it’s night time but it seems a little more stiff than I thought 🤔
@@andrewbernier4676 How much do you weigh? I'm about 71kg/155lbs now. Board isn't super flexy but has enough give to cushion the ride
@@downhill254skate I’ve used the 33 drop cat a bunch now and I’m enjoying it a bunch! Still very good quality and I’ve been using it nonstop for the past 2 months. I can even take a good sized hill with it. Should I switch out the wheels if I’m going to learn how to slide on it?
What company bushings and name are those on the board (the white and green ones)
Hardcore barrel bushings. 87a and 93a is what I use these days. 85 and 90a are what are in the video
@@downhill254skate I am 135 pounds so you think 85a and 88a would be good (I don’t do to much downhill and like to carve)
@@marcovicidomini4749 85/90a is best
Great review man. One thing I’m curious about is what size board I should get because there is a drop cat 33 and drop cat 38. I’m 5’11 and I wear a size 12 so I’m wondering what you think would fit best.
38 is the safest choice. Thanks for watching
@@downhill254skate would the 38 also be quick turning? Because I honestly wouldn’t want something that’s sluggish as u said in the video for bigger boards
@@moswag2431 It should turn quickly enough. Because you're taller, the 33 in might be a bit cramped.
@@downhill254skate ok thank you for clearing that up
Do you think orangatang bushings would work with this board, and which ones
You'd have to figure out the duro for yourself according to your weight. But you can't go wron with the softest infront and harderst in the back.
Any idea if 165mm trucks would fit with the standard size wheels without wheel bite?
Yeah, should work. Might get bite. Used 165mm Ronin's without much issue
@@downhill254skate Thanks for fast reply. My daughter wants to buy a drop cat but wants to use 165mm Paris V3’s that we have sitting here so was just wondering if it was going to work or not.
@@Alan_27ATH should be alright :)
Is the standing platform still more spacious length wise than the original Dinghy?
yes
@@downhill254skatetysm for the videos and for answering my question just ordered it rn i cant waaaaaaaiiiit!!!
What do you recommend, the Drop Cat or the Drop Hammer?
Depends on the time of riding you want to do
@@downhill254skate Mainly just cruising around the neighborhood, maybe go down some slight hills and carve alittle?
@@vincentngo9494 The drop cat isn't the best for anything speedy. The drop hammer is ok for cruising, it won't be as good as the Drop cat. Kinda hard to find a board that does it all ... but the Drop Hammer would suit you best
I haven't been on a board in about 15 years when I was I rode a normal board so I don't have any experience with longboards. I'm 6'1", 220lbs, and have a 13 US shoe size. Would you suggest the 38 or the 33? I'll eventually get to some hills, but nothing crazy. I mainly just plan to have a chill cruise. 30mph or less at max. or is there another board you would suggest? I've been on reddit asking and several people to me to check you out.
I'd suggest going with the 38! I'm happy loads of people said to check my out. Yeah go with the 38 and maybe get aftermarket bushings, would be best for your weight
Another question. Should I replace both bushings on each truck? For instance, do I need one cylindrical bushing and one cone on top, or are two cylindrical bushes per truck okay? Thanks!
Yes, you should replace all. You might be ok replacing just one, but for best results replace all
@@downhill254skate so it doesn’t matter if one is cone shaped? The entire board can just have cylindrical? Thanks for your speedy reply!
@@99wessman yup! It can be cylindrical (or barrels as most skaters call them). Mine are all cylindrical. Running 87a Infront and 93a in the back hardcore barrels. It feels amazing!
@@downhill254skate thanks man! You’ve taught me so much! Just made a new life longer rider
Is this board good for 5'6”
Yup!
Do you think you can fit venom cannibals (76mm) on it?
Yes ... probably
There's another RUclipsr running a 33 Drop Cat with 85 mm Caguama wheels.
Great review, thanks!
Do you recommend any brand of hardcore bushings? Or is that the brand itself
the brand itself. right know I have 90a HC bushings in front and 93a HC in the back truck. Loving it!

In the clips you showed, was that downhill? I'm currently looking for a board that will cruise further/faster than my current Amazon board so I'm trying to guage how far/fast you were going. Thanks!
It was a mix of downhill and flat paths. This board will certainly cruise faster and further than most amazon boards
@@downhill254skate Awesome thanks, that's super helpful!!! Now I just have to wait till it's back in stock 😂
Hi, may I ask the standing platform is exactly 20" or is it more like 22-22.5 inches. Is it possible for you to measure it? Would really appreciate that. Thank you!
About 20
@@downhill254skate Oh... was told it was 56cm which is 22 inches... alright! Thank you !
For a beginner, would you recommend the Drop Cat 33 or the Drop Hammer?
Should be Drop Cat 38 vs Drop Hammer. Honestly both great boards so go or what catches your eye the most
@@downhill254skate would you say the 38 would be better suited for a beginner as opposed to the 33? and why would this be. thx
@@connorlarkin2148 33 if you're small, 38 if you're over like 5ft 8
@@downhill254skate I see. Thank you!
@@downhill254skate But you mentioned 5ft 8 to 5ft 10, the 33 would fit fine??? I ride a Surfskate and my stance is approximately 24", understand that the nose and tail truck area is about 7 inches on each... which makes the total standing board about 19-20"?

What board shouldi buy for crusing The landyachtz drop cat 33 or the dinghy turbo flight. I am beiginner and I want aboard to skate place to place 2-20 minute in roads and small side walks sometimes with sharp turns.

The turning with the drop cat is good?
Either the drop cat or the Landyachtz ripper. Go for the ripper if you think you'd need kicktail.
