Sir, Thanks for video. May I say some words.....I learned about shaving techniques from your video. Cartridge razor gives me nice shave. But not clean and I get light dark shade on my cheeks. So 1 year back I switched to wet shave with following your channel. Lot of items not available here. I get Proraso (3 varieties), EJ DE 89, Merkur, Omega brushes...from Amazon global. I never find blade's sample pack. So I tried with Astra, Shark. derby, Personna... 100's pack (almost Rs. 18 per blade). All are performed great with little cuts and bleeding. After watching your video, I tried with Wilkinson Sword. It also not for me. Once you highlighted its name Gillette Wilkinson Sword "Saloon Pack". It is amazing. Alum block not alarming. Yes, lot of difference between ordinary and Saloon Pack. (Ordinary imported from China and Saloon Pack manufactured in India) Now I have only 20 blades and I booked for more at local shop. Its cost Rs. 25 for 10 blades pack. It is very low price comparing with my imported blades. Sir, your small word change my mind and my searching journey ended with satisfaction. Respect you Sir
Bro, can you tell me a good affordable DE Razor that we can buy in India. Most of the international ones are above Rs.3000. Need something that is medium aggressive and very good build quality. Would be great if you recommend brushes too. I am currently using a local cheap DE Razor and G-Wilkinson Sword Blades. Old Spice after shave and shaving cream. But the razor and brush is the most important of the lot.
@@KINGMJ1990 My favorite Indian razors Parker & Pearl. Both are good in build quality and aggressiveness. Both are under Rs. 2000. Parker's adjustable razor @ Rs. 3770. There is lot of varieties. PARKER available in amazon : JK International (its original seller). Pearl available in amazon and their own site. I hope you satisfied with PARKER or Pearl. Pearl supply everything.. i.e. Brush, after shave balm, cream, gel, stand etc. I like know your purchase 😃
I've finally figured out the one bad thing about your videos, I find all this cool stuff I have to add into my collection! Lol. Great video, as always!
Just buy one of those Proraso travel kits, you can refill any of the containers with like product from larger containers. Blades can be located locally or sent ahead. If you don't like the small brush in the kit, buy an Omega Mixed Midget for around $20. If you want a lathering bowl, buy one of those collapsible "slow feed" dog bowls. They collapse flat have protrusions in the bottom to create turbulence to whip up the lather. If you want soap, just use a good sized knife and cut off a section from a larger bar or halve a small puck. Space and weight are important when flying. Thanks for the video Ken.
For travel I take shave cream in a tube (like toothpaste) and face lather. Handy, practical, safe and compact. And always a synthetic brush. Dries quickly and doesn't mind even if carried along humid.
Great tips and items wish I had thought of those minis that is actually a pretty cool idea. Another tip I have seen for traveling when you don't want to check your bags is to drop mail yourself some blades to your hotel.
Great shave Ken. Soap Commander has these little samples that you can buy that are about the size of an ice cube that are TSA friendly and last for at least 3 or 4 shaves easy and they also have similar sized samples of aftershave balm. As far as what razors to take, the Leaf will more than likely go unoticed due to the fact that it looks like a modern cartridge razor. I was told that anything less than 3 ounces would be accepted and to hit the travel section at retailers.
Great shave and video, Ken! Thanks so much. Yes a little too much water in that brush for the minis, but I appreciate the "we're live and anything can happen" nature of your videos! I'm trying to make it to The Big Shave this year. Would be great to say hi in person.
Great shave. When I traveled to Mexico, I brought a Gillette Good News disposable razor and a Gillette travel sized shaving cream in a bag. Also brought for the trip was a Gillette aftershave gel. That's basically travel shave gear I had for the trip in order to maintain my good looks. Have a great weekend
Ken, thanks again for a greatly informative video. I own a birth year/quarter (1964 J3) Gillette Travel Tech set similar to yours, but I confess to owning it just to have one for my collection, as I have never as yet tried it out. When we go on vacation this summer I will now plan on taking it after seeing that you got a good shave from it. I hope to get some of those minis one day soon, as well to go along with it. I use an Omega small boar brush as my go-to for travel, and it works well. Take care, have a great day ! Rob
Very nice vid w cool equipment. I dated this girl that used to travel with half a suitcase full of stuff for her hair...used to drive me nuts, specially on the way back when the expected me to make room for her stuff in my suitcase. So I hate traveling w too much stuff. My shave routine traveling: close normal shave before departure. Take new 2-3 blade disposable. Trim the upper and lower beard sides every day using the hotel conditioner. Might shave all every 2 days if needed for appearance. Might take a nice small soap if questionable hotel.
Thanks Ken that was really interesting. I keep changing my travel gear. Before it would be straight razor, strop, big soap puck etc. Lately more cartridge and cream. Fun to change around though. Take care!
Great shave Sir 👍 Indeed, bring the DE razor and pick up a couple of blades when you arrive. No throwaway nonsense - good for the face and good for the environment! 🌎
Thanks, Ken. Great video! One question I was hoping you’d answer-what kind of razor would you bring if you were NOT able to check a bag and therefore could not bring D/E blades (assuming also that you did not have time to stop and pick up some blades once you arrived). The very tightly scheduled business trip comes to mind. Sometimes you don’t have time to check a bag, wait for a bag, or make any unscheduled stops. Thanks.
Hey Ken, great video and shave on shave options when travelling. As a fellow Bond Aficionado I'm looking forward to your Bond tribute shave. I have the Floris shave soap and Aftershave beautiful stuff, funny it was Skyfall that got me into traditional wet shaving.
Nice shave! I've heard of Floris as there are some reviews out there (even on youtube fragrance channels). First of all, EDT or EDP are not to be used after the shave as the alcohol concentration is higher than in the case of the A/S splash and they also lack the healing/calming ingredients of the A/S. What you can do you can buy an A/S balm and the EDT (eventually the smaller cheaper bottle) so you can put the EDT after the balm, both sporting the same 89 scent. You can get the smaller bottle for around 60 $ and the balm for around 30 $.
Great video , did my first de travel shave last month in Cuba , pretty neat experience. Going through customs they did pull my shave kit out of my travel on to make sure there were no blades in my razor
Nice shave Ken. When I go travelling I take my Merkur travel box, with either the 34c, the 37 or the Progress along with some blades. It was designed for their small razors of that size. I also decant some TOBs cream into an old Proraso pre shave tub and pack my small Edwin Jagger brush. It's almost like being at home. :) Here's to the 10K!
Great info Ken! I will have to get some of them Gillette safety razors you have been showing us over the last few years. I have enjoyed wet shaving. Thanks for all the videos.
I have two of the Travel Techs, both J4s, my birth year. They are cute-looking little things, aren't they? Actually the regular ball tip handle is simply a bit longer than its travel cousin, and is plenty small and portable anyway for travel. The Tech's mildness might be offset by the use of a feather blade for some.
Great shave Ken! I use the Parker A1R when I travel and it does right by me. Was impressed with the soap. That is a handy travel tool! Keep it up. Looking forward, as always, to the next video.
Nice shave Ken💈 I've had one of those travel razors for years and never used it, may give it a go now just to see how she shaves. That inch and a half long handle seems non intuitive, but I guess it works eh. Those mini soaps look like the right idea and obviously work as well. Great video and comments. Enjoy!
Nice shave! I only tried the minis once but they give a pretty decent lather. That razor has a short handle... not made for a club fisted guy. I asked for vacation to go to big Shave also. Hopefully it will be dealt with this week...
I have that same razor in my travel Dopp kit - it is one of my favorites, I like shaving with it better than most of my other razors - even better than my 34c for a mild shave. Great video - been wondering about the minis - gonna try them out now.
Congrats again on 9k Ken! Well deserved 🤙 This is actually great timing as we’re starting to plan for some traveling fun next month and later this year. Floris 89 is really good especially the EDT.
I love that little razor & I wish the pacific shaving company made their product with much more attractive scents! 😕 🤷🏻♂️ I reviewed the shaving cream, aftershave balm & shave stick for Stan & was very pleased with them, they’re great performing products you can pick up locally.
I go to Cuba or Mexico for 2 weeks evey year . I take a little can of shave cream . One disposable razor . I only shave maybe 4 times . Don't over think this . Lol. .
