I agree 100% with this. I got this edition years ago and read through all of it. I recommend it for anyone who wants to read the Bible in large amounts, especially the whole thing. Tim used the correct term: you are immersed in the Bible when you read this. Been reading through Genesis in this version this month, and it is a joy. Thanks for covering this one, Tim!
Thanks, Nathaniel... great input!
I'm in love with this set! 😍 Novel-like, no extra stuff, easy to read and hold, beautiful covers and set up, single column, black letter, no thin pages. I'm thinking about getting it, though I feel a bit crazy with how expensive it is! I think it's the way to finally get into the bible again and read the entirety of it. It just seems strange, I often get cheap/used books. Better to spend money on this than other less important things though, right? 😂 I've been looking at other readers editions but they aren't exactly right so far.
Very nice. I do like that it is over multiple volumes as it draws attention to the nature of the Bible as an anthology of books with different genres and authors. Plus the cloth over board is nice. We tend to get so wowed by leather that we forget the simplicity and tactile pleasure of cloth over board. It reminds me of Everyman’s Library which puts out some really nice books!
Great insight, Tom... this is definitely a special set.
Tim Wildsmith Thank you!
This looks like a great set. I bought the Bibliotheca set on kickstarter way back when. Yes, it puts the Bible into multiple volumes but there are great benefits to that. I think the big one is the one you highlighted, the thicker paper with so much less ghosting. It also allows for a large font in paragraph single column. It removes all clutter & distractions from reading the Bible, from the text itself.
I’d love to get that Bibliotheca set one day.
@@timwildsmith Looks like you pretty much got it. Seems like they copied the idea. Other than the font, translation differences & this esv set having some red headings they look to be fairly similar.
@@Mind_of_MATT Noo, don't discourage Tim from reviewing Bibliotheca. They are both not the same thing, the only same thing is that they are both reader's bibles. But everything else was approached differently. Its worth a look at.
Well done! I love this concept! Thank you!❤️
It's really great!
A good way to encourage people just to read the bible cover to cover.
You made some great points about seeing the big picture. I’d like to get one of these and it’s my favorite translation just so sit down and read
Thanks, Joshua. Definitely a great Bible.
I have this! After using it for a year or so, it's difficult to pick up anything else.
A classic in my opinion.
I am torn between this, biblioteca and words on fire…the price increases are so large!
Have it. Love it!
It's so good!
I just purchased it and love it. The reader's focus really comes through in its construction and readability. I find myself reading large chunks very quickly, as it has so much room to breath compared to traditional bibles, but....
Why did crossway split it into 6 volumes? They could have easily split the 'prophets' into two volumes (former and latter prophets) so it totals to 7. 6 volumes of 66 books of the Bible creates a subtle subconscious reference to 666, while I know is completely unintentional, I can't stop recognizing Everytime I pick it up. It keeps reminding me that this is merely the work of man, not the Word of God.
I thought Crossway was an evangelical Christian company, how could they miss this subtle detail?! Come on. Bibliotecha at least paid attention to small details by making the covers, text block, and print match the dimensions of Noah's ark. Just as an example
I would have never thought about that.
How has the gold printing on the spine of the books held up? Have they started to wear with time?
Looks great... not wearing off at all... but I don't use these every day.
It wears off unfortunately, still, it's an amazing collection.
Everytime I watch one of your videos, I get sad that cool stuff like this isn´t available in german.
Sorry!
@@timwildsmith Well that´s why I learn english. Maybe i´ll be so fluent in english one day that I can just read the bible in english.
Is bibliotheca done better than this ESV reader's bible?
I would day the overall quality, material, and craftsmanship are similar.
