    A few things:
    1) I don't understand WHY blood pythons have the reputation for being grumpy. We own 5 different species of snakes that includes 3 blood pythons. Out of our 12 snakes, those 3 are the sweetest snakes. They literally refuse to bite or even strike. We have to lay their food in the enclosures for them to swallow because they just won't strike them lol
    2) We also breed Gargs. You said you haven't had good luck hatching eggs. We hatch them like crazy....now. We found that upping the temps seemed to have a much higher rate of hatch success. I'd suggest increasing the heat for yours and see what happens.
    3) I absolutely love what you are doing with this channel. You're educational, entertaining, clean (good for my kids to watch), and you really are straightforward and tell the truth about the animals. I love that. I hope you stick around for years and years. Thank you for what you do!

      I feel like blood pythons aren't necessarily grumpy, but they definitely seem very vocal compared to other pythons. Most blood pythons ive worked with love to hear themselves "talk" even if they aren't necessarily upset about anything. Red blood pythons specifically are almost always super vocal from what ive noticed. Maybe their hissing scares people into assuming they are more aggresive than they actually are? who knows! I love them though!

    • @jpsfish5966
      @jpsfish5966 5 лет назад +13

      Apparently in the 90s there was a batch of wild blood pythons that was super aggressive and that was a large base for the population in the hobby for years. They have since introduced much more tame lines into the breed and the over all temperament has calmed. This is just something that I have heard and read a few places so who knows if it’s accurate.

    • @flayxiii4775
      @flayxiii4775 5 лет назад +8

      @@alexcrowder1673 That is very true. All of ours love to "talk" at us when we go to get them out, but they aren't angry or even a little aggressive. Just noisy lol.

    • @braunvieh1416
      @braunvieh1416 5 лет назад +8

      Its because they're naturally super defensive snakes and very vocal and their body language is harder to read than most. The majority of the hate comes from experiencing wc adults but baby bloods and minimally handled bloods have extreme defensive behavior. A lot of people also keep them in tubs, which is no bueno for one. When they feed bloods strike from below. What they do in the wild is bury themselves in leaf litter near a stream and wait for a thirsty little animal to run atop them so when you approach from above they to tend to give a feeding strike if you're not careful. Mine is cbb but hadnt been handled in his entire 7 years of life before I got him and he was an absolute pain in the ass to calm down. He was a 7year old that had rarely been touched and never had a good handling experience. He bit and musked a LOT. Still does musk if one tiny thing goes wrong. But I've also known a lot of others who were super chill and just lil sweethearts. How you handle them has a huge effect too. Idiots like brian b. For example just get all jumpy around the animal and dangle them and dont support their bodies or respect their space ans behavior and then the snake gets nervous and goes into those defensive behaviors

    I also grew up in Colorado and my first snake encounter was a bull snake. My dad had caught it & told me I could pet it. It bit me. 😂
    My dad explained to me later I shouldn’t have poked my finger directly toward its face to pet it. He explained it bit me because I didn’t approach it correctly.
    I already loved animals and already understood that there are both best and worst ways to approach animals. I accepted it as my mistake and I would often catch wild snakes and spiders found in the area without any more bites. Reptiles truly are rad! 🥰

    • @PumaSquirrel_
      @PumaSquirrel_ 5 лет назад +2

      MrZorlac28 they definitely can be. The most important thing is easing the skink into handling and doing it often enough not to stress them out but to get them used to it over time. Also captive breed are much easier to handle (in my experience), especially if you can get them as a baby so you can start working with them early. They really are a lovely animals!!

    Gusgus lookin like a champ out there. Also its time I get back to begging for the desert iguana video and now the chinese water dragon video. Also I'm curious, have you read that some ecologist think the majority of amphibians are going to go extinct with the coming climate changes? There's some amphibians that show resistance to the chytrid fungus, like the eastern red back salamander and research is being done to try and isolate the alleles that give them that immunity. Do you think there's any hope?

    • @ClintsReptiles
      @ClintsReptiles  5 лет назад +6

      There is always hope, but this is a real threat to many of them. I will cover those guys for sure. Finding both as healthy adulta has been challenging.

      @@ClintsReptiles I see thats fair. Desert Iguanas are primarily wild caughts which is why I want to get some so I can breed them after I get a job after college. Supposedly incredibly docile with handling but skittish. I'm just interested in chinese water dragons cause I was talking to an ex-breeder and he thinks they're the best reptile if you can afford them. I'm hoping for the lil slimy boys. I just started learning amphibian calls! I'd hate for them to die out now! They're too cool.

    I also live in Colorado, in a suburb surrounded prairie dogs, which means lots of snakes, of course. I've seen rattlesnakes, though I never stuck around to identify their exact species, and I see lots of garter snakes from the common garter to the checkered garter, which is my favorite. However, I love the bull snakes as I saw one last summer that had about two thirds of its body down a prairie dog hole and later my neighbor was literally sweeping a baby bull snake out of his garage which I carried back to the field. That was my first time touching a snake and I have been obsessed with them ever since

    I have four cresties and four gargs. I prefer the gargs, but even though I have three female gargs and a male, I am not going to breed them. My understanding is that they can be very rough and I don't want my girls hurt. Both are awesome pets! I also have a tailless whip scorpion, a Mexican red knee trantula, a Brazilian black trantula and my favorite, my male anaconda morph Western/plains hognose snake Aspen. Plus two ESA cats. Some day I would like to own a Pilbara rock monitor, a Hog Island boa (I used to own a BCI male), a pink tongue skink or maybe a fire skink (my daughter has a blue tongue skink) and possibly a super dwarf retic. ❤❤❤ You and your channel. So wonderful to see your personal collection. Gus Gus is my favorite.

    A video on Map Turtles would be great speaking of the little Stinkpot you featured. I had a Ringed Map, he/she was a very cool turtle that eventually started to warn up to me and actually became somewhat sociable for an aquatic turtle. VERY AGGRESSIVE EATERS though haha!
