im always excited to see when they bring the school kids into the dig and let them experience real archeology first hand. you just know one or two of them had to take that experience and stick with it
That would be such a cool little field trip, even if it was only nextdoor, and you know those kids had more fun playing in the dirt and finding pottery shards than they would have had doing bookwork. No doubt one or two decided that archeology sounded like a fun thing to do when they grew up.
I wonder too, the episode apparently came out during 2010 so if the kids here are around 7-11 they will be in the range of about to go to university or come through university in the last year or two.

A lovely town with lovely people . In the summer of 2000 my son of about 8 months and I as Lt. Colonel John Lilburne ( O.C. Lt. Col Ret of Dragoones ) and my wife were given the honour of leading the Burford Guard and the Carnival procession on Leveller Day . We had driven across the country to honour those prisoners at the Church who were finally executed for their forward thinking and beliefs after the events of the English Civil Wars when the franchise was denied them by the nobility and wealthier sort that still made up Parliament at that time . A wonderful and memorable occasion for my family .
There have been several where it lasted longer than three days, but most of those were planned to be longer. And even the "normal" dig lasts MUH MUCH LONGER than 3 days. When the show stops filming, archaeologists continue with their tasks and finish what they started (they don't leave skeletal remains "half dug up"), and then is the long arduous job of recording everything, cataloging, and finally closing up the dig or turning it over to a local historical society who may continue for months or years. They don't just toss everything in the trunk and drive away come Sunday night.
