      Thanks for watching! And I used the FarOut (Guthook) app as my guide. Mostly to determine how far away water sources and camp spots were. But it was useful. Ken Smith's Buffalo River Handbook is also great for adding context to the land and trail, if you're into that kind of thing.

      Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! We got lucky crossing Woolum. Don't know if we could have done it if the river was 2 inches higher.

    Thanks Mitch for a great narrative! It was really helpful ( and beautiful) We’re heading out to do it Christmas Day 2023. My hiking buddy is working the sassafras award and this all she has left in Arkansas. Still has the Qzark Trail to do…

      I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the video! And I hope you had a great Christmas hike! I couldn't imagine a better place to get out on Christmas than on the Buffalo River.

      @@OzarksMitch I have done the OHT up to Woolum but had to stop there because the river was too high. Couldn’t cross the Buffalo or Richland. So this is next on my to do list!

      @OzarksMitch  2 года назад +1

      Well shucks! You've done more of the OHT than I have! I still need to complete Fairview to Woolum. You're in for a treat though! The BRT section will blow you away.

    what month was it?..looks like the perfect time of year for the trail...before the summer ticks

    • @OzarksMitch
      @OzarksMitch  2 года назад

      It was mid March. March into mid April is my ideal time. Water is typically flowing, spring ephemerals are blooming, trail isn't overgrown or covered in leaves, and mostly no biting insects. Though ticks are more dependent on temps than anything. If it's mid 60s some will be out and hungry.
