- In my continuing journey to evolve my artwork I created another spread in my board book collage journal. I have an exhibition coming up in 2024 and I have a lot of work to do to prepare for that exhibit. I want the work to show growth but still not veer too far from my concept of positive thoughts and affirmations. The work I'm currently doing in this journey is helping me to hone my collage skills and showing me what I gravitate to. This is important information.

Just before watching your grid one before this one. Such a difference. The grid is so time consuming ur looks great when it is done. This one though really speaks to me. I found myself agreeing or disagreeing with a potential placement. In most cases though you placed them just where I would have done so it was lots of fun watching it come together.
This is one of my favorites from the recent collages I have done. I think I'm getting better at this intuitive abstract collage. I'm very new to it. I've been doing mostly representational, figurative collage work for the last 10 years. This is helping to evolve my work into something new. My gelli prints are not as bold as a lot of yours are. I think I need a to schedule a work session soon.
It's good to have both. I frequently make neutral papers but I tend to use the bold ones more often.

Are all the papers you use here made with the gel plate or painted directly? The heavier papers look as if they were painted on directly.

Yes this is a mixture of papers that I sprayed paint on back side of rice paper and painted with black on the front. It was a while ago so I'm not sure exactly. But some of the papers are using the gel plate.
