The Best Way To Fit a Sleeping Bag Into a Backpack

- Most bags come with a stuff sack so you can cram the bag into the smallest space possible, but this creates a hard ball of fabric that presses against your lower back. Instead, lots of hikers will simply stuff their sleeping bag directly into their pack. This creates a nice soft base for your back, and fills all the nooks and crannies in your pack.
Pretty risky lol, if your bag gets wet(rain fly doesn’t work, can’t put it on, falls in water, etc.) your down sleeping bag will pretty much completely stop working.
IMO, the best way to do this is a hybrid between the two. Get a compactor back or I like the LiteAF pack liners, and then stuff it in there. This lets you get that soft fit while keeping it safe!
Good tip!
I trust the white guy wearing the Patagonia 😂
This is pretty bad advice, but I suppose if you haven't hiked in the rain and just want to create some RUclips content then it might seem like a good idea. As a minimum when hiking in Northern Europe I would want two or more ways in which my sleeping bag is protected from getting wet.
Its got nothing to do with it sitting in your back and is about more efficient packing. You utilise your pack space better by stuffing your sleeping pad and air mat in. Use two bin bags, one inside the other and stuff them to bottom of bag, stick spare clothes and sleep gear in the innermost bag, squash and compress then twist the top, stuff other gear into the outer bin bag on top of the sleep gear, then close bag

What a load of crap, use a dry bag, change your back if it's not comfortable. Stop giving bad advice.
Which dry bag do you use for your sleeping bag?
Ikea hand truck, velcro strap with steel clip and a strong bicycle rack 💪 and hit the P'tit Train Du Nord 🎉
Cute voice! Nooks & crannies ❤
My pack is lined so while that's a good idea I have one large dry bag for my entire sleep system.
My bivvy sack, nemo mattress, quilt, puffy jacket and other items I need at night go into a large dry bag ready to set up. It's quick to set up and break camp.
We like that idea!
good tip if it’s a hike with no rain, although it wouldn’t be a bad idea to bring the dry sack anyways just in case 😅
Decent pack liner will sort that out though 🤌 admittedly, i have a pack liner and everything in dry bags... cos i'm paranoid that the rain will still get in 😅
Strap it to the outside of the pack. By far the most space efficient.
unless it rains
just put everything on the outside of the pack, lots of space
@@GavinHamm01the cover/bag should be waterproof
most would recommend against strapping anything to the exterior as it pulls the center of gravity away from you
Yes, we generally don't strap things to the outside of the pack unless necessary.
