The 2 poor girls who were locked up because they had learning difficulties. Well what do people expect? Superior DNA and all the rest of the rubbish. Of course they had to be locked up. That's all I want to say on the subject.
I'm reluctant these days to hand out a subscription at the beginning of a video just because I'm asked (albeit politely) by the creator. You, kind sir, have EARNED this sub! I can't wait to see more of this channel.
Moral of the story - choose your friends carefully, and treat them with respect and care, and don't expect them to meet your needs and expectations all of the time. Oh and also sexual promiscuity is really not a good idea! Truly!!! Well done indeed again Jon! 👏
These stories you find, are so unique and fascinating...Compared to other historical content creators, who just repeat very well known historical figures over and over, with no real new information being shared. You really dive deep to find these new and unique hidden histories for us....Thanks Jon!
Never heard of her..but this is what makes your videos so valuable. I learn something new every time I watch one...and for a history nut like me it is wonderful...
Thank you Jon superb as always, this lady was a stunning gorgeous woman for sure, but she was ambitious and managed to control and keep Charles happy in certain ways, she knew how to get her own way.😊😊👍
@@HistoryRoadshow Hey Jon, just bragged about you and HRS to my best friend who lives in AZ so she's going to check it out! Told her she could find older episodes on You Tube! We went to high school together and to make you laugh, the school's name is John Marshall in Ohio!
Awesome video, Jon! Your editing game has come so far! And as always all the info. You really make incredible edutainment! Great choice also. A win all around as always! (I hope you're continuing to feel better
@@HistoryRoadshow I assure you, it is! I have plans for a channel MYSELF and the learning curve looks absolutely terrifying! Many of my YTber friends are pressuring me to do it. (I've done a few guest spots, with more to come) I admire your efforts! We are often our own worst critic! Onwards! xxx
She was a horrible woman who had Charles wrapped around her finger. A few of her kids she tried to pass off on him. I felt sorry for Charles's poor wife who had to put up with that witch. She even slept with the King's own son as well. In the end Charles woke up, especially after he met Nell, and she had to go.
Thanks Jon for telling this very interesting tale as well as the amazing work put into this video. Barbara was some woman, seemed to have developed a bit of a swelled head with her fame. She had some cheek to force her into the new Queens household like that with no regard for the feelings of Queen Catherine. Shocking still for us in the modern day to hear Barbara was the one behind the destruction of Henry VIII's magical Nonsuch Palace, depriving us of viewing it's wonderment today.
@@HistoryRoadshow Question, as a proud Brit, what were your feelings on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, her funeral etc? Of course her passing touched people all the world over in different ways, truly the end of an era but I imagine it was somewhat different, more tangible for Brits like yourself, her beloved subjects
Difficult to say really, the firm has always been around and it's pretty much like changing the guard. Monarchy can be good for the country it's probably the only one in the world that's managed to keep going and with success. Yes, it's always sad when someone passes, but as you say the family is a worldwide phenomena. I think it will continue, how? I'm not sure it will have to change and develop with the times.
It is interesting to note that Barbara Palmer had a contemporary counterpart at the court of Charles II cousin, Louis XIV, of France. Madame de Montespan. Like Countless Castlemain, the Marquees de Montespan is remembered as a grasping and vulgar woman. Perhaps it was the zeitgeist of the time (combined with inherent human greed)?
Hardly! Bring for sale to the highest bidder? Getting ahead on your back?! Charles had an amazing strong, long suffering wife, Catherine, whom Barbara treated like dirt, and subjected to humiliation. I fail to see how one can consider that worthy of applause.
I'm related to Barbara Palmers husband . Aren't the Palmers still related to King Charles or any royals?? Sir Robert Palmer is my 1st cousin 12 times removed
Thank you for sharing that! It’s amazing to have such a historical figure in your family tree. While the Palmers may not have current royal ties, Barbara Palmer’s connection to King Charles II keeps the link to royalty alive in history.
Oliver Cromwell was trying to help ordinary people from the rich and immoral royals but the people were fickle and only wanted their parties back. Thus we had an amoral royal lot back again.

Pleasure Shane, I must admit I was surprised that she was even able to use nonsuch to pay off her debt! That's a story in itself. 😊

The Stuarts sure had a thing for the Villiers family.

You make a valid point Jerald, thanks 😊
My great grandmother’s birth name was Sheila Villiers she was born in Coventry and she’s a decent of George Villiers
Her ghost has apparently been seen by many people, sadly gazing out from a window of her house.
The fact that she sold off Nonesuch Palace piecemeal is a travesty
WHAT a woman!😂😂😂🇦🇺...Way to go Barbara!😉🇦🇺

Love the history of times gone by, no phones, no cars, no planes, no gas, no electricity, but plenty of sex.
Great job with the video. Charles II is the illegitimate son of the god Zeus. 😊
Thanks as always Savage 😊
