    Thank you, I used your other video for this upgrade. Not really a cost saver when you buy a new Series S and a used 1TB SSD, compared to the new all black 1TB Series S. But excellent when you only want to upgrade. Hoping to see a 2TB SSD version soon!

      This will also void any warranty you have with buying the console new, so it's only really worth it buying used, which will anyways save even more money compared to the new 1TB option.

    Hi Great explenation and simple to understand , can i ask if you clone from 512gb drive to 1tb successfully can you keep the 512 gb drive as spare incase of total fail in the future of the new 1tb to put back in without cloning information back to it again ? i presume the partition with the encripted info changes(the Raw 1gb with key ) or does it ? or can you just save backup on pc ,kind regards from Dublin

    • @ElectronicsComputers
      @ElectronicsComputers  4 месяца назад +2

      Once you want to return to the 512GB SSD, you have to clone the boot partition from the 1TB drive. Otherwise, it's not going to work. For example, the Xbox One X had a chip on the motherboard with that bootloader, and you could simply put any SSD/HDD inside your console and install Xbox OS from a USB drive. With the Series X, Microsoft placed that bootloader on the SSD, and it's now encrypted. So, whatever happens to the drive bricks your console, and nobody except Microsoft can fix it. In most cases, they don't repair clients' consoles and instead provide a refurbished one for more than 70% of the price of a new one.

    • @johnpaul5656
      @johnpaul5656 4 месяца назад +1

  • @dpgoverride
    @dpgoverride 5 месяцев назад

    Thanks for the great, easy to follow video! Does this prevent you from updating online? Also, am I understanding correctly that every time you update you will need to repeat this process?

    • @ElectronicsComputers
      @ElectronicsComputers  5 месяцев назад +5

      My method is based on Microsoft's instructions. Your console will receive all online updates and function without any problems. I've a bunch of Series S consoles to a 1TB SSD, and no one has ever reported any issues. As for updates, what I mean is, for example, once you clone the original boot partition and then install offline updates on a new SSD, your previous boot partition from the original SSD becomes irrelevant. So, in the event you want to upgrade to another SSD or revert to your original one, you'll need to clone the boot partition from the new SSD. If you've been using your console for some time and have received new system and firmware updates, you'll need a fresh copy of that boot partition to replace the SSD. Unlike previous generations of Xbox consoles that had the boot loader on the motherboard chip, requiring only a new drive and offline updates without cloning, Microsoft has decided to make the process more complicated with Series S and X.

    • @ElectronicsComputers

      There's only a few models that work with Series S|X, you can't just clone original SSD into any random drive. Technically, you can but in order to make it work you need to tweak the firmware of that SSD which is not easy thing to do.

    • @akop87
      @akop87 5 месяцев назад

      When you clone you're cloning the partitions and data. This helps you clone part of the validation on the boot partition. However the Xbox also checks to look for particular SSD models and that's handled by the SSD firmware.

    Ive been trying to do it every way possible for the last 2 days and I cannot get it to work, I made a backup of the original drive but the original drive stopped booting as well and xbox turns straight back off, console works without ssd and both new and old ssds work too, only installing bootloader partition doesn't boot either, it booted once off the new 2tb drive with data partition missing but offline update kept failing, idk what to do, online says that there's a hidden encrypted partition which ties the ssd to mb but it has turned on up to offline updates from the new ssd so Im just lost, I have no clue why it stopped reading original drive too..

    • @ElectronicsComputers
      @ElectronicsComputers  8 месяцев назад

      After each offline system update you get new encrypted boot partition and the old one won't work anymore. So if you want to return everything back you need to copy the boot partition from the 2TB drive onto your original one and then perform offline system update. Did you buy a modified 2TB SSD or just a random one?

    • @akop87
      @akop87 5 месяцев назад +1

      Sounds like you may have used an incompatible SSD. In turn attempting offline update has changed the MB encryption key. So it no longer matches with the one it paired with on your original SSD.
      I am not sure how to resolve this but for the most part it's currently bricked and might require MS to fix it unless someone else has a solution.

    • @AM-bq4jb
      @AM-bq4jb 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@akop87 Yeah exactly that happened so device is bricked, I then got a cheap series S with broken HDMI to repair instead, but it had like 12 missing pads, I rebuilt the traces but then ripped off the remaining 4 like a dickhead so I just got a series X .. 🤦🏻

    • @akop87
      @akop87 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@AM-bq4jb shit that sucks.... What did you end up doing with the incompatible SSD...
      I'm wondering if your first attempt of the update wrote to the boot partition and if you can clone that to the original SSD (assuming you didn't wipe the 2tb drive yet)
      Might be able to make the S come back to life like that.

      @@akop87 I found out that drive gets re-encrypted after a system update only after reflashing the disk in despair like 40 times 😂 so Im planning on buying the CFE adapter and just plugging it into my series X, maybe I'll fix the series S with broken HDMI traces but this is definitely more likely than paying Microsoft to fix the other series S, I'd rather use it for parts

      Bueno, la única opción para solucionar este problema es instalar actualizaciones sin conexión. ¿Estás seguro de que no hay opción para omitir el inicio de sesión y la conexión a internet durante ese proceso? Si conectar a una red es obligatorio, entonces tienes que buscar en internet una versión antigua del archivo OSU1 que no requiera conexión a internet durante la instalación de la actualización.
