She and Jewel are very similar. Both had rough starts, both were songwriters, both had major debut albums that went diamond, and both are from Canada (well, Jewel was from Alaska but still). They even have a very similar style of conducting interviews. Never noticed until now.

And Ontario (where Shania is from) is certainly NOT northern Canada. The majority of us in Canada live within 200 km of the U.S. border because it's just too cold to live any farther north. On another note, I've always been a fan of Shania. Her music is awesome and I think she's lovely :)
I don't know if Mark Mullet?, is the backup singer but I don't think I've heard too many backups add as much to the lead singer. every song he sings backup is distinct and very good.
