  • Hi All-
In this two part video series you will hear from my best friend Melissa. Melissa has been my best friend since the day I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 disorder 11 years ago. In the first video I will share my state of mind from when I was first diagnosed.
In the second video (coming soon) Melissa will share her perspective on having a friend with Bipolar disorder and what she has learned about mental illness over the past 11 years.
Thanks Melissa for your support! I wouldn't be where I am today without you!
    Enjoy the videos!
As always I would love your feedback and suggestions for upcoming video topics.
    Stay strong!
    Lisa

Thank you for making this video! Showcasing real life examples helped to make things clearer! My friend seems to be in the hypermania phase and is cutting off any relationships who “doesnt understand” her. This is concerning as we see her making delusional assumptions and irrational decisions and yet we just cant seem to get through her. It is stressful and sad (and even angry at times) to see her behaving like this. Hence, i would like to get some advice on how to cope with this, esp from the perspective of a friend!

You are very well spoken and brave to express your experiences with bipolar disorder.

I went on a real estate shopping spree in my early twenties and bought four houses in a couple months!!!! Lost a ton of money. Thought i was gonna be Donald trump. Completely delusional. That was my first episode.

my question for you is there anything I can do or say to get through to him or is he just going to have to bottom out? I am scared for him and I miss him not this crazed online hook up guy he has become. even yesterday he came by was suppose to stay over but his lord and master summoned and he left soon after. I am fed up with him not trying to do better w/his bipolar. I know you can't help someone unless they want to be helped but I don't think he is aware of just how dangerous this lifestyle he has adopted truly can be. I guess I am asking should I give up on him too or what?

      Gregory Dent
Hello again- Thanks for clarifying. I am not a mental health professional, but I did a search for you on Bipolar NOS. It stands for Bipolar Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. I found an article on NOS that may be helpful at www.livestrong.com/article/99347-bipolar-disorder-nos/. Have you asked your doctor for more information on your diagnosis? Maybe he/she can help shed some light on the reasoning for your diagnosis. Just a thought :) Hope this helps!
