Robotic fibers can make breath-monitoring garments

- A new kind of fiber developed by researchers at MIT and in Sweden can be made into cloth that senses how much it is being stretched or compressed, and then provides immediate tactile feedback in the form of pressure or vibration. Such fabrics, the team suggests, could be used in garments that help train singers or athletes to better control their breathing, or that help patients recovering from disease or surgery to recover their normal breathing patterns. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is an independent, coeducational, privately endowed university in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Our mission is to advance knowledge; to educate students in science, engineering, technology, humanities and social sciences; and to tackle the most pressing problems facing the world today. We are a community of hands-on problem-solvers in love with fundamental science and eager to make the world a better place.
The MIT RUclips channel features videos about all types of MIT research, including the robot cheetah, LIGO, gravitational waves, mathematics, and bombardier beetles, as well as videos on origami, time capsules, and other aspects of life and culture on the MIT campus. Our goal is to open the doors of MIT and bring the Institute to the world through video. Наука
This is a perfect application for VR Gloves.
Holy heck! It would be great for haptic response.
Dear MIT, How is your community so great? Hope to be a part of it!
Super excited .
MIT create new things every second
*two things every second
Three things every second
Imagine hugging virtually
So, if the weaving strands were made of vibranium, we would be having fully flexible black panther suits? Nice
Please make this into a VR haptic suit, yes?
exactly my thought
That will be really helpful for maintaining a proper posture, would prevent lots of spine problems.
MIT rocks and rolls! 💕 ☮ 🌎 🌌
MIT is such an amazing thing
Great content, thanks for sharing :)
Imagine guiding players correct positions to hold during games
Impressive technology!
Damn it's just in its infancy but it's really cool
Özgün Hanım sağ olsun bu masada da varız 👍🏻
Robotic fiber+Nano technology lays the opportunity to design fictional suits 😁🔥
That's really awesome
0:13 - to creators: wow! you can use this to greatly improve swimming suits and make it "smart"! this type of surface convert turbulent flow to laminar like a dolphin skin!
if such material is used in a pilot's suit, the pilot will be able to withstand more G-forces than usual...
soft manipulators and transforming composites are next gen !
also this materials will save many lives with muscular dysplasia...
Love MIT! From "Black Mesa" with love! 🙂
Amazing 👏👏
I hear how my T shirt argue with me about size.)
Wow. Just wow.
amazing
Soft robots are also being studied in the area of total artificial heart. It seems much more coming about it...
Özgün hanım başarılar👍
Ótima Ideia
looks like the same technology used in party horns...
lololol. on point 😆👍
This will be great addition to robotics as its muscles.
Someone please make a suit for pain management with tech putting pressure on pressure points to relieve pain. We can do away with pain medicine.
Robotic fibres? Interesting. Robotic fashion is the future: Next level Nanotechnology
Where can I find a paper on this matter
It can be used for curing hump...
I think very successful products can be created with the electronic system (Software + Electronic).
Congratulations.
This university is a Dream for every student🇺🇸🇺🇸💯
I graduated from MIT in 1969. Reminds me the college life...........
its good you make the discovery but really challenge is to make it into production
Will be just one cloth adjustable to all size like "back to the future" movie????
Could this be used to finally make jeans that actually fit? 😀
Hello everybody! Excuse me can you someone tell me please how can i patent and sell for example new gadget or technology in USA if i not american? Or how can i contact for negotiations and try sell it to Samsung, Bosch...?
I want to make a lungi pant out of it
yok artık
Responsive robotic cloth: Exists.
Me: This might be able to solve the stiffness problem in spacesuits.
Them: We'll help people sing by forcing them to belly breathe.
A corset that squeezes your belly and tugs on your ribs to help you sing isn't going to kill you if it fails. And it doesn't need to be exceptionally robust either.
Generally, you want to prove out a concept and identify potential issues before you invest too much into applying it to a big, expensive project like a spacesuit.
Fascinating and sorta creepy. :)
This maybe used in Spiderman suit which autofits
Back to the future 🥴 anyone remember
mmm. I'm havin some ideas now o_o
No more kegel.
My clothes moving on their own ? ...
I dunno if i could ever get used to that
thanks god someone is there who's skeptical too.
imagine u wearing such a neck warmer, and some external person somehow hacked it and then made it to tighten it to chock and kill. oh gosh :(
One of the first 10 comments!
creepy.................. cool.
:O Can I get these?
I am in grade seven but I want to study into mit
Sell to vr company
PC.
Politically correct. 😉
*The struggles, challenges, and obstacles that it takes to succeed in life are what makes success more valuable. Nothing great comes easy, and nothing easy can ever equate to greatness. Love from a small RUclipsr*💖💝
It looks useful to make artificial muscles
Breathing is not a valid option when it only hold and press the body ... It doesn't help the lungs' expansion
Interesting ....like a boa constrictor! very cunning tactic if you were in a movie that was ww3 silent war on the people ...awsum technology and very dangerous also..be careful out there folks...
Is it ok to be a guy?
nothing new other than repackaging, and a slaughtering to the vocabulary of english langauge
air mechanics? isnt erhe some words for that...im unable to spell...heh
pnematics?
NEw00fRZ nothing, new, nice job reverse engineering science from over a decade ago. >clap clap clap<
HOPE IT WAS CHEAPER THAN THE LAST STUDENTS IN r&d LAB 101
amazing
