The golfers had to stop and hope the elk would move on quickly but that didn't happen. What did happen was they all started laying down and grazing. Golfers took a mulligan 🤣

Beautiful. I like that they co-exist with the people in that town and how these animals are being respected. I was at the Grand Canyon National Park last year and I had a cabin inside the park. One morning 6 of them were right outside my cabin door. But from what I read they were not natives to the park but were transplanted from Yellowstone National Park.
One person out of millions who actually understands! Loaded with simpletons and only one person understands. Those houses and streets are sitting right in the middle of a migration corridor. As usual, humans ruined it. Now the elk are forced to walk on asphalt! Wow, I nevr new that... write, simpletons? (Yes, most of you are illiterate as well... 3rd grade drop-out illiterates)!

I grew up there. I just don't understand why they don't take Elkhorn Avenue, it's much wider. And that's where all the annual (rodeo and commercial) parades took place in my childhood.
This is in the fall during the rut. They congregate in the 100's on the Estes (s-tess, not, s-tease) Park golf course to munch on the green grass, take in the sun & feel safe in their #'s. There are a # of herds down there at the same time, but usually the harem bulls let the other bulls know where the lines are, so to speak. One year, they literally did just that! While taking notes, I saw 2 big bulls line up at the far side of the course lawn/fairway & run across, each w/ a tip of their antlers scoring a line in the dirt all the way across to the other side. I was in Estes Park on the way to the RMNP entrance a # of times each fall, but I had never seen that happen before.
Born in Loveland. . . Bèen there and seen thar, lots. Estes Park and RMNP just up the main drag thru Loveland. . . Miss it, sometimes. . . But NOT the snow!
No, when the snowy season hits, they come down to the foothills to browse together.. They fan back out in the summer and head for higher elevations. Come here in the fall if you want to see a lot of elk. They hang out on the elementary school playground and pond across from the Stanley Hotel.
Cockroaches and mosquitoes were around before human communities sprang up. Do you see them as intruders and a nuisance or do you welcome their presence?
It is the way of life, both plant and animal, to move into available territory. The species eventually coexist, or they don't. The Homo sapiens and elk of Estes Park coexist successfully, and both species have thrived.
Actually the elk are not seen as a nuisance. They are protected and they more/less run the town. They are never chased away. Cars and people wait until the elk are gone before they can move on. Ask the merchants in Estes Park how much they depend on the elk!
Elk in Estes are not seen as a nuisance. They are neighbors and they are protected. They are always welcomed and respected by the people living there. I don't think elk are seen as a nuisance anywhere in Colorado.
I have been in Colorado for a year and a half camping all over and I have never seen an elk moose bear I guess this is the only way I'm going to get the chance to see is on video and they got them running through their town that is so cool
Look at those beautiful creatures. Got all their girls in line! Phenomenal! Thank you for sharing. Even just their voices!! May we hear them forever!!
Very cool! Thanks for not talking while filming. No words needed...
I love to see these beatiful animals.

Their voices….so touching, to watch the males guarding the females so so beautiful. What a blessed sight to see
But when the males bugle, the females and babies start walking.

They’re not guarding anything. 🙄 Females couldn’t care less they are there and are fine if not better off without them.
The elk have travelled the same path for centuries. Some things should never change.
Maybe this was their original grazing land. Or worse yet maybe they sense something humans can't
They are in town because they are safe from predators. Mating goes more smoothly without constant vigilance for predators.
I love the person in the car that just patiently waited for them to pass.

Me too. 💕
Not a whole lot else they could do.

A beautiful area in the mountains for sure; I would certainly consider living with elk an 'added value'. Thank you for the video Justin Calkins.
This is an amazing video. Grew up in Colorado and regularly went to Estes Park to witness the rut.
Hope the elk still have the right away!
What a beautiful sight to see. Thank you for co-existing and not evicting them from their home.
After all they were there first !!!
The elk are smart to be hunkered down in town. They know they're safe from hunters there.

That seems strange unless the government was attempting to save them from the coming Yellowstone volcano.
Dale Rider put your aluminum hat back on. They move them to diversify the herd.

Everyone loves a parade, especially a parade of Elk. Judging by how long it took--7 minutes--must have been close to 1/2 + mile long.
Wow...how amazing and disruptive at the same time. They are beautiful, aren't they?
